That is absolutely absurd. Even if McFadden is everything he's hyped up to be he adds very little to this team. An extra yard per carry out of a backup running back isn't going to "put you over the top." That's ridiculous.
i'm sure if we got him he wouldn't be the backup for very long.

That depends on a lot of things.

Barber is so good at minor things like blocking and such that he will be one tough mother to beat out.

But if they want to be strategic about it like they were with Julius Jones and use Barber as a shot of adrenaline then they may go back that route sometime during the season.

Why on earth would anyone ever consider spending two 1st round picks on a backup RB? Seriously, a backup RB. A guy that'll be lucky to get 150 touches all season, and who AT THE ABSOLUTE BEST would have about 1 yard per carry more than a back we could draft in the 3rd. Is 150 yards per season worth two first round picks?

why on earth would anyone consider spending a 1st rd pick on a nickel or 4th string CB?

also, McFadden would greatly out produce any other back we could possibly draft, and his impact goes well beyond just "touches"...every play he's on the field defenses will have to account for him...he's the only player in the draft like that

Peterson made no difference for an other below average Vikings team too right?

Come on Theo, you are not this naive...you dont want to draft the guy, fine...but dont try to do some mega spin job downplaying the guys potential impact. He's the most explosive player in the draft hands down and he would have a huge impact on our team in ALOT of different ways

Thats the thing.

If people really think Jerry is bringing in Pacman Jones and is going to use the 22nd pick on a 4th string Corner than your just not connecting the dots.

This is a valid argument, but I would like for him to trade for WR either for our 2nd rd pick or our 2nd and 3rd round picks. And then trade our 2 #1 picks to get McFadden. I think that Oakland may be a generous trade partner and take that trade. We have had success trading with Oakland in the past. And it would help save some money. But of course that means it would cost us a lot of money to sign McFadden. One counter point to the 4th corner argument is what if Newman leaves via free agency? What if Pacman doesn't pan out? Well, that first round 4th string corner could be starting after one year.

Good post.

On the "what if's" about people leaving and stuff I just dont think Jerry is going to think that way.

In my opinion his thought is Superbowl or bust and will strike while the Iron is hot and will do some overspending if need be.

If he wanted to play it safe he wouldn't bring Pacman Jones here in the first place.

We're going for a Superbowl and 4th string rookie corners just aren't going to get you there.

4th string??? exagerate much? who is third? with everything surrounding Pacman right now, he would just be a luxury for us and that would be all until hepans out, then for how long?

we have no 3rd string CB with or without Pac. That means three wideouts in our opponents line up and we would be screwed

Dude get real.

Pacman is not coming to Dallas to ride pine. He is going to play and play over any rookie we draft.

and how long will he remain on the field?

we draft a CB, I will bend a little and say we draft a CB with our 2nd first round pick if Pac comes....

In my opinion not very long thats why I wouldn't take the gamble on him in the 1st place.

But Jerry Jones is taking the gamble on him and if you guys really think our draft strategy isn't going to change with the addition of Pacman then your fooling yourselves.

if they get Jones, they arnt using either of those 1st rd picks on a CB

notice I didnt say "DB"...I said "CB"

if they get Jones they'll make a full court press to get an impact offensive player...it might or might not be McFadden...it might be a trade for a proven WR

and yeah you cant trust Adam Jones, so I do believe we should draft another CB, just not in the 1st rd...and probably not in the 2nd rd either

You know its funny, the only people that are talking about us trading those first for McFadden are here on this board. Every single piece of press lately has been about how we are looking at WR like Chad Johnson, RW and Anquin Boldin. All of this certainty that you guys is based on nothing. There is no historical basis for this, there is no factual evidence at all. Its just rabid McFadden fans that create this in their head.

Also McFadden would not start. In case you forgot we have a probowl RB in already. So by that logic, why would we use both first rounders and a second to draft a second string RB.

Its so baseless on so many levels. But hey if it makes you feel better to make up stuff you go right ahead.

He's definitely not, though I have a feeling that whatever deal he gets to come here (if we trade for him) he is going to be highly incented to stay on the field and out of jails & courts

I tend to think that if we trade for him and he is reinstated, he will be on the field alot this yr unless he gets hurt...and he probably will have a pretty significant impact on our defense and special teams

Stephen Jones seemed to think drafting McFadden was a possibility didnt he? Does he count? And you cant read an article on the draft that hasnt had some speculation about the Cowboys trying to figure out a way to move up for the guy...it might not happen, personally I think the Raiders will take him and that will be the end of it.

Barber wasnt technically a starter either now was he? Hey I've never claimed he would start anyway, I know he'll split time with Barber. And thats just fine by me. We'll have the best RB tandem in the league by far

Who's making anything up? Anybody who posts anything in these forums is voicing opinions...there's not a single poster in this forum I know of that has any real inside scoop on whats going on at VR and what they are thinking about doing.

or he could go to Baby Dolls with Nelly and cause a riot.

Seriously if you are willing to put the effectiveness of your defense on Adam Jones or some third tier CB you are crazy.

Its funny, so many people are willing to bank on Pacman Jones so they can rationalize trading most/all of our first day picks when a two months ago people wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole.
