There appears to be near unanimous disagreement with your concept through two pages. I've never seen so many people in agreement about a thread topic being wrong.

And OP isn't shy about starting new threads. Wouldn't be surprised if he just abandons this one and starts a few new ones with the hope of pushing this one off of the front page of the fan zone, lol.

Yes, he has a predictable but very odd posting pattern. He'll disappear for significant periods of time but when he returns it will usually be 3 new threads within the first few hours.

Sad fact is that we are much less successful picking DL vs picking OL. BUT looking into it farther the reaching has hurt almost as much. And frankly there is NO excuse for going anywhere NEAR Gregory. Someone that fails a drug test at the combine- where EVERYONE KNOWS THEY WILL BE TESTED- needs to be completely ignored. The BS about value is just that; someone who does what he does and with his history is someone you avoid no matter what.

The premium picks (top three) support the exact opposite.

DBs (25%)
Byron Jones
- Solid starter in first year at FS
Chidobe Awuze - Starter at CB (Nolan Carroll will be suspended and the reviews so far are good)
Jourdan Lewis - Hopeful future starter at Nickel

OL (17%)
Zack Martin
- Top Guard in the NFL
Chaz Green - injured, but looking like the possible starter at Guard in 2017

RB (8%)
Ezekiel Elliot
- arguably the Top RB in NFL

LB (8%)
Jaylon Smith
- Looking like he will be starting in 2017

DL (42%)
DeMarcus Lawrence (two picks)
- Current Starter DE, suspended and injured
Randy Gregory - Wasted pick
Maliek Collins - Starter DT, possible
Taco Charlton - Hopefully our future starter LDE

This is feelings based, but I colored them according to their impact on the team:
Blue (33%) - They are locks on this team as starters for years
Green (25%) - Good work ethic and upside. I feel like they can be blue with time and investment
Black (16%) - They have the skills to start, but injury/off field issues cloud them
Red (25%) - Simply a bad investment

Their only three bad picks (two wasted on Tank) were on DL, which sticks out like a sore thumb when compared to the others. The two possibilities on why are: bad evaluating OR they reached in desperation. Given the trade up for Tank and the red flags on Gregory, it is pretty obvious that they reached. Considering their success rate when they did not reach/gamble, one could make the determination that they would have been stacked at three other spots had they not tried too hard to fill their DL needs.

Suspensions for dui/dwi don't happen until there is a conviction.

Now imagine what would be said if these guys all turned out to be exactly what we had hoped.

Lawrence- creating havoc at RDE
Collins- well, cont doing what he does at the 3T
Charlton- overpowering guards at the DT
Gregory- collecting sacks at LDE

I'm sure this would be a different thread.

of course. Just as if the ones we used on the OLine had come up empty. But the contrast Is so great that it is hard not to whine about It.
I guess it could be argued that there is just no way we could be as successful on both lines. Laws of probability and luck just will not allow it

A year or two ago there was a brief period where the front page of the fan zone was like his own personal blog.

It's good to see we have a wide variance of opinion among the Cowboys faithful. The chicken littles still see the sky falling while the more hopeful fans like myself see the Cowboys being serious contenders for the next several years. We are over the hump of the 8-8 years, folks and we are light years removed from the 5-11 seasons of the Campo Era.

Dallas was number 1 in rush defense and number 5 in scoring which to me is the most important... number 14 total...not too bad for a sucky D.

I love how people defend this team as if we've been knocking on the door of a championship the last few years...

We've been to the playoffs twice in seven years under Garrett and he is 1-2 in the playoffs...

We've been investing in offense since before Garrett was head coach and we've ignored defense the entire time to no avail. The investments we did make on defense were always in the secondary instead of up front where most plays are determined.

Which DL would you have taken instead of guys we have taken in the first round?

This thread was trolling at its finest. No other explanation for the stupidity of the premise. We've failed with some of the investments, but we've spent more capital on DL than just about any other position group the past three years.
