In today's salary cap limited NFL can you really invest in all areas of the team? I mean you can't have an All Pro at every position. Sometimes you need coaching to make a difference. We have not had that for a very long time. The last time we saw a "coached up" was Tuna first season when he took basically Campo's 5 - 11 roster and made the playoffs. Since then, we have have not seen coaching like that. Sadly, I think we have a HC that needs an All Pro at every position to win when it counts.
It's certainly a question that can be asked.
For all of the accolades, the fact is that the Cowboys offense is loaded with talent, arguably better than anyone else in the league. It's not news that they're great, it would be news if they weren't.
The part of the team that did overachieve was the undermanned defense.
And as good as last season was - and it was great - the team came out in the playoffs looking unprepared and ultimately lost in the first round after being the conference's top seed.
Going into 2017, the team looks well-stocked from a personnel standpoint and hopes are justifiably high. Barring injury, if they fail to go far, I think coaching should be brought into question.
