Folk May Be Released or Put on IR...Kicker Search Underway

I bet he could at least make a 24 yarder.:

It hurt that they kept showing the pregame warm up kicks. Folk was horrible. That was embarrassing. :(

What about Buehler? He may not be the long term answer but he has to have been practicing and improving over the year. Who could we bring in that would be better? He certainly has the leg and he might just be able to win the spot out right.

Supposedly he looked pretty bad in practice this week when they had him try a few. That's unfair to him considering he hasn't been practicing them all year and they only give him a few kicks to see what he can do.

How could Beuhler be any worse? He played at one of the elite schools in the nation. They said he missed worse in practice. Was he drafted to only kickoff.
What the Folk?!!!!!!1:bang2:

This is the same coaching staff that had Miles Austin on the bench. Maybe Buehler is just a bad practice player like Doug Free.

Its funny the battles you pick when you know exactly what he means. ;)

Which is exactly why I ignored the post.

Dang I liked Nick Folk - remember the bomb he hit in Buffalo? :(

Twice. :( Hopefully they just shut him down for the year and he can get back to his normal offseason routine without the hip surgery to jack it up.

Let me finish watching the game and I'll get the pic up of why he missed the 24 yarder. It wasn't injury, unless the injury causes him to take longer steps. His plant foot is just too far ahead of the ball to kick straight.

I know, and it makes no sense. I understand the need to have someone who can kickoff deep. But I can't understand why you would need to draft someone just to kickoff if they couldn't kick FG's. I really can't believe we couldn't either find a free agent who was capable of kicking deep or draft a guy who could kickoff and was an accurate FG kicker. We went years without drafting a kicker, now twice in recent years we draft two and neither can make FG's? WTH?

He kicked FGs just fine at USC. He just hasn't done it at all this year until they told him this week to try and make a few and obviously, he was rusty. IMO, he'd be fine if he had been kicking them all season. I'd imagine kicking is like a golf swing. You can't take a few months off and expect to just jump right in and be good at it.

I hope he goes on IR and gets a chance to win the job back in camp next season. He was too good for 2 seasons to be a total bust, if we release him next year we may regret it.

It's hard to blame it on the hip surgery when he was lights out to start the season.

It's all mechanics and between the ears. Just like with Vanderjagt a couple of years ago.

I'd do this. He's useless this year, but I wouldn't give up on his whole career right yet.
Last night I said in the chat to cut his arse, but upon reflection I see the value of waiting, sending him to a sports shrink, working with him or whatever is deemed appropriate to get him back to mr. reliable.

So did we cut him or what?

Dos anyone know if we can actually IR him?

Suisham was at 85% this year I believe. Not great, but 100 times better than Folk this year. Elam was under 70%, closer to 60% I think.

Agreed.

I was totally pissed last night and posted that his arse should have been cut in the lockerroom.

However, now that I have though about it and calmed down I think IR or just deactivating him would be the best option. Lets send him to a shink or get that hip checked out again or something. Let him then compete next training camp for the job and if he is still ****ed up in the head, cut his arse then.

Yea, he was basically cut due to him costing the Skins the game against the Saints.

I would take him right now over Folk.

Remember how proud Jerry was of himself for drafting Buehler? Seems like a lot of teams have guys who can boom kick-offs deep AND hit FGs. Part of the reason Folk hasn't been cut or IR'ed or whatever is they just don't want to admit failure.

From hero to zero in two short years. Sad, and damaging.

actually, I've learned not to assume folks know what they are talking about on this board. For example, year after year we get the "put him on PuP" suggestions for guys who get hurt in pre season.
