Former Bears GM Angelo rates Romo 15th best QB in 2013

Pretty funny that he had not a single thing positive to say about two quarterbacks he ranks fairly high (7.9) in Stafford and Romo. Stafford's notes look like they should be attached to the worst QB in the league.

Otherwise, the list looks basically like an ordering of the best teams in the league with a bit of variance. Nothing original to see here.

I agree, but the author only had limited space to convey what he was talking about: Romo's boneheaded plays.

Can't wait for the day the NFL welcomes a QB who never makes boneheaded plays. That'll be something!

No way in hell is Alex Smith, Colin Kaepernick and Cam Newton better than Romo.

If Romo had their defenses he'd be in everybody's top 5-6 QB's list.

Well guess what? Romo doesn't and will never have their defenses.

This year, those guys played better than Romo.

What a horrible list. His little brief descriptions of some of these guys are way off, and sometimes just plain dumb.

And what exactly is he grading? Is this supposed to be a ranking of 2013 performances only? Or the QB's full body of work?

If it's 2013 only where the hell is Josh McCown? He had basically the same number of completions/attempts as Rogers, Bradford, Ponder, Weeden, and Pryor, and all of those guys are ranked in the top 32 (and McCown's 2013 performance was waaaay better than some of those guys).

Also, if we're looking at just 2013 no way in hell should Cam Newton and Andrew Luck be anywhere near Drew Brees or Philip Rivers. Newton and Luck should be much lower. I could go on, but I really don't feel like wasting my morning looking at this goober's list.

And, if we're looking at full body of work I shouldn't even have to explain why this guy's list is poo poo.

Amusing quote from the wiki;
"Angelo was fired by the Bears on January 3, 2012. The reason for his firing was due to a combination of poor drafting and questionable free agent signings..."

I love when lists like this are put together by someone with "former" in their title/name....trying to stay relevant and naming tony a middle of the pack QB is nonsense; but, it gets hits!

"He has a blind spot. His instincts are just average and his accuracy is not consistent enough given the amount of times they let him wing it and that’s what he does...wing it. His mental toughness is suspect and physically he is the danger zone given his two back surgeries."

Blind spot = inaccurate, flat out wrong and that's not my opinion.

Instincts = just average? If anything his instincts is what defines his style of play.

Accuracy/consistency = he is closer on these. It is a problem.

Mental toughness = yeah! he does do the Eli sulk. Many do, it's just disappointment not lacking toughness.

Physical = I think Romo is in trouble here. I do t see him just retiring one day. I see an injury retirement.

Argue about the number all you want but his description of Romo's game is spot on

Exactly.

I'm not a Romo apologist..

but he is what he is.

Never going to be a prototype QB..

never has been.

Has more than a few flaws and often is the reason the team can't advance.

he's in the league of the Danny Whites, Craig Mortons and Don Meredith.

he's capable, has quality teammates but at the critical position of QB..

the team actually doesn't know whether Good Tony or Bad Tony.shows up to play.

We have to grow out of this phase of Romo as the focus of the team.

Its killing us slowly, folks.

The lengths some Cowboy fans go to lick other teams nuts while disrespecting the Cowboys is sickening.

It's honestly disgusting. I swear this place turned into the "Seahawks" zone after the SB. Thank god that phase of the offseason is over. The amount of gushing that goes on around here over "teams that our fans wish we were" is gross.

His accuracy is among the best statistically in the league. Thats a fact. So he must "wing it" pretty good.
And he doesn't flinch or get gun shy. Much like a CB has to do, he forgets quickly when he throws a bad one. He's won games with broken ribs, punctured lungs and herniated discs. I think questioning his toughness, mental or otherwise is not one of his weaknesses.

Romo's big weakness is trying to do too much. His biggest screwups is when the rest of the team is not helping him out.

That guy Angelo is currently unemployed right? Imagine that.

Can't wait till our next qb and see if he gets the same criteria.

Couldn't disagree more.

Romo is "often the reason the team can't advance"?

Truly laughable. I guess he should start showing up more on defense.
