You likely aren't getting immediate impact pass rush players in the draft. They are rare.

The Cowboys have basically created this situation with a combination of questionable draft choices, injuries and lack of any real veteran additions via FA.

What you see is what you get and I expect 2017 will be much like 2018. Not good enough.

Sad but true

Yikes, well it was fun dreaming about ya Nick Perry! But the draft is the only likely solution to Dallas' pass rushing woes....

sigh...

Help is on the way. Lower first rd pick sack totals. Hope ours ends up like Mercilus or jones.

So does every other team.

Always try to get better. Use every avenue of talent acquisition.

The point is we have used adequate resources for the position and we will not be able to sign an FA war daddy like everyone is clamoring for.

It's time for some of the deadbeats to start earning their pay.

Anyone who thought Dallas was going to be able to get a good edge rusher in free agency simply hasn't been paying attention to the NFL and how they do it.

Really good edge rushers just don't come out in free agency unless there is some problem... and if there is a problem, Dallas isn't going to sign them anyway.

It was always going to be the draft to get a stud edge rusher... if they can manage and the board falls right.

people need to get over this DE obsession, because the problem with the DL is the inability to get pressure up the middle consistently and the lack of collapsing the pocket and forcing the QB outside
collapsing the pocket from the inside is what we need, run defense is what we need, someone two take up two blockers so Mayoya, Collins, Irving, and D law can face 3 blockers. I really think Collins would benifit the most, and he's got the shortest distance to get the qb, rb, whatever. If he flushes him out we either get a sack from someone like Irving, tackle for loss or the ball thrown away and make them waste a down.

people forget last yr was Mayowa and Irvings first yr getting significant playing time and they showed alot. I would allow them to grow instead of bringing in another rookie.

We need the guys already on the roster to step up.
What if they simply aren't talented to do it?

From what I see, they are not a bunch of deadbeat gold brickers. They try.

Sometimes that is just not enough.

Chandler Jones and Melvin Ingram will be franchised; Mario Addison has resigned. Unless we go after rotational DE's like Jabaal Sheard or Demarcus Ware, looks like our outside pass rush help will have to come in the draft. Which makes trading Romo to flip first round picks with HOU or DEN (if a rookie DE we like slips) all the more important.
There Cowboys were never going after a big name free agent anyways

Probably have to take a run at a cheaper option like Andre Branch.
