From EaglesWire: Dak Prescott's standout play could haunt the Eagles

The big difference is that the Eagles paid a price that will cripple the team if Wentz doesn't become a top 10 level QB while we paid a price that is reasonable if Dak becomes a successful QB2.

That's just icing on the cake, isn't it? It's even better that some Eagles fans are mad as hell how things are turning out.

Do the Eagles even have a high volume message board? Every one I check out is just a pile of trash with zero activity. Only the Giants and Commanders have active boards that I've seen.

I don't get why people keep saying tap the brakes? I mean don't we all have reason to be excited?
Ya It's tiring as if being excited about a rookie is the first sign of dementia. We all see the traits are there.
If Dak isnt our future QB I DO NOT believe that will be the cause of climate change.

Eagles fans probably have a lower literacy rate. Makes it tough to read and post. Try finding a forum that's picture based, they're likely there.

You must have far more faith in Romo than 99.999% of the country lol.

I'm pumped about Prescott but in a way i'm kinda hoping he bombs tonight so this hype train will cool off a little and this can get back to being about Romo again.

If Prescott goes off tonight i'm afraid we will here his name all season.

McNabb was more accurate than I think people give him credit for. Yeah, he'd occasionally throw a dirt ball, but most of the time he was pretty on point. He was pretty damn good for a long time.

On another note, I had no idea that Goff was currently thought of as 3rd on the depth chart. Damn.

He was below 60% which was 5% lower than league average. He was statistically inaccurate and Shanahan finally benched him permanently because of it. He never played disciplined football but when he was athletic enough he could overcome inconsistent mechanics. He was always a sloppy player.

I don't think you remember the Eagles running the division for a decade.

They never got over the hump but 10 win seasons were nearly guaranteed for a stretch. All of which was McNabb -- but alcoholism did him in.

That big walrus looking dude with the belt on the sideline was/is pretty good to! ;)

If the Eagles miss on Wentz, they are in big trouble. Even if he's a hit, it could take them a while to build an offense around him.

Their first rounders in 2014 and 2015 are not looking good. Of course Wentz was their first rounder this year. And next year they won't have a first. So that could be four years in a row where they haven't found a legitimate starter in the first round. Philly could be entering a dark age unless Carson can bail them out.

They are spread out over a crap ton of message boards. There is no one or two dominant Eagles sites out there.

Completely bombed their first round pick two years ago, although I wouldn't throw dirt on their WR pick last year, at least not yet but the trend isnt' good. If you look at their last 6 #1 picks........... not great.

They hit with Lane Johnson (although he's one more failed test away from a two year ban) and Fletcher Cox. But they also drafted Marcus Smith (bum), Danny Watkins (out of football) and Brandon Graham (decent, but not great).

To add even more insult to injury, Eagles former coach has high praise for Dak (and Romo).

I know.. I just know that in Dallas something like having a promising young QB can turn into a huge distraction real quick.

You watch.. Anytime Romo does something wrong we'll start seeing people clamoring for Dak. The broadcasts will show him on the sidelines constantly. It will get out of hand.

So tonight... I'm hoping Dak has a bit of a Rookie performance.

I used to look down on McNabb's game because I thought he was so overrated as a passer from watching him 3-4 times/year. Then I sat down and recognized how well he took care of the football. I have to admit, he was a pretty good player, overall.

Still don't like him as a person, though. And he choked on his biggest stage. Also, I hold the suit coats with the elongated front panels against him. Those are awful.
Yes yess! Lol and I hold his strange girating dancing against him. I can't forgive him for implanting that imagine in my head as I will never be able to erase it from memory!!

But he definitely took care the ball even perfecting the dirtball so that the other team couldn't get their hands on it.

Back in 07 before we played the eagles in december there was a similar article about Romo and how mcnabb and reid had blown their chance of winning a Super Bowl. I think it was from the philadelphia daily news.

They won the game and then the giants copied the defensive strategy and beat us in the playoffs.

The end of the day this type of thing means nothing, but prescott's play has been great.

Barf.. Why did you have to post that?

At least we beat the crap out of them that day. Felix Jones to the house.

Understood. I however hope he has another stellar outing. I like that Tony might feel a little pressure. Competition is always a good thing.

Hey if he goes off again i'll be ecstatic but I don't feel like this is a toy that the media will just let us put back on the shelf.

The guy is becoming an NFL lightning rod over a couple of pre-season games.
