Roy Williams blasted Garrett and defended TO... If both number 1 receiver's blame Garrett, then why is TO being criticized? Roy openly said Garrett used him on one slant the whole season, and that was the Eagles game, the very last game of the season. And the slant is his bread-and-butter...

I think Roy was just following suit, because he was the 3rd in line to bash Garrett's O

Apparently you don't know.

Steve Mariucci and Terrell Owens continued to work together until Mooch was fired following the 2002 season. So Mooch stuck it out through whatever difficulties they may have had, unlike what people here are suggesting we should do with Owens because Wade Phillips/Jason Garrett supposedly can't "handle him."

He also benched owens. He also said that he made it through the rest of his time in SF with owens, Certainly not that it was a pleasure to do so.
Not by the look on his face or tone of his voice.

So you googled some thing eh?

There are also a ton of people who say we will never win a thing with owens, so far they are right.

their O still got smothered in the Super Bowl

Are you honestly going to tell me that the Giants would have smothered that offense nine times out of ten games? They didn't get smothered the first time. The Giants played the best game of their lives....
don't we still have Roy Williams on the roster?

You mean the same Roy WIlliams that blasted Garrett and said that Garrett only threw one slant to him his whole time, and that was in the final game of the season. The very bread-and-butter route of Roy WIlliams?

you don't need a top 5 WR to win a Super Bowl, and you certainly don't need 2, top 10-15 WRs to do it

Ah OK... You need top WRs though, right? They do help more than they hurt right...

:laugh2:

Do you have NFL Network, by any chance? Mooch defends Owens basically every time his name comes up. Does that sound like something someone who just "made it through his time with Owens" would do?

He benched Owens exactly once, and it was following that infamous star incident. That had absolutely nothing to do with anything Owens had said or done to Mooch personally.

Of course... So you have the franchise QB, who never bashes anyone, the HoF WR, and now, the Pro Bowl WR who played in a similar system in Detroit, who was traded to be the replacement WR for TO when the latter retires..

I think that is pretty telling isn't it, the relevance of the people criticizing Garrett..

Again, what exactly has Garrett done, prior to the Cowboys, other than QB coaching the likes of Joey Harrington?

He was suspended and fined one game for nearly inciting a riot!

And Mariucci is supposedly some tough guy because of that?

He lost complete control before he was fired in Detroit.

Like Wade Phillips, Mariucci is a nice guy.

And we know where they finish...

What riot? There wasn't one punch thrown. I honestly can't think of many coaches who would have sat owens for what he did. It wasn't a big deal to any one but a few Cowboy players and their fans.

I doubt JJ would have. I know Phillips wouldn't. Jones would have made a movie out of it.

I would like to know who was primarily responsible for eroding the relationship between Mariucci and Owens AND when the division primarily between the two started? Do you know the answers, iJordanTaber?

 ;) :)

So? You want to go there, do you?

Keyshawn Johnson WAS kicked off a team...the very team he DID win something with (Tampa Bay).

The Jets never won anything with Keyshawn Johnson. But the Bucs did. And then they kicked him off the team.

Keep trying. Maybe you'll get it right one of these days.

I think Terry Glenn was kicked off a team too, but i'm not sure.

I agree.

And that proves my point about what the real problems are around here.

Jones, Phillips, and Garrett are either unable or unwilling to deal with their players in the manner they need to.

you don't need top WRs

if your team is based on your O, you are not going to win the Super Bowl

You picked a bad time in history to try to prove the 'receivers don't matter' mantra.

the Giant O stepped up as well

They had one miraculous catch from Tyree, with Eli manning doing some miraculous avoidance of a sack, and an easy pic dropped by Asnte Samuel that would have been returned all the way to end-zone... Liek I said, that was the game of their lives....

9 times out of 10, it most likely wouldn't have happened. The Patriots put up 38 points the game prior.

the same Roy Williams that makes having TO on the team moot

So why didn't Roy WIlliams produce this year, when teams made an effort to take out TO, not Roy?

you don't need top WRs

if your team is based on your O, you are not going to win the Super Bowl

Top WRs improve the odds dramatically... They help more than they hurt, TO included...
