I also think that Jenkins is a #1 pick, making #1 money and Scandrick is a 5th round pick making 5th round money plays a role as well. If you play Scandrick at CB and sit Jenkins, you would have to pay Scandrick starters money when he resigns. Jenkins, you would have to pay as well or you would probably lose him to FA. The other thing is that Scandrick has played some safety before. I don't know that Jenkins has but whatever. It's the off season.
Jenkins was always the one they were grooming to start. He always played on the outside and Scandrick always played the slot.

I'd much rather see them experiment with Alan Ball than a very talented young corner like Scandrick.
Ball weighs 176 pounds, he'll get killed at safety. I mean literally killed, Jacobs will end his life on the field.

That doesn't sound like a good solution. Scandrick is CB material. Why would you waste that type of skill at the safety position?

DUMB.

What do you mean?

Eugene Wilson was a pretty good corner at Illinois and the Pat's drafted him in the second round-- he almost immediately became their starter at FS.

Is it really wise to take a good corner and move him to safety? Always seemed like the sort of thing you do as a last-ditch effort with a corner who has lost his wheels.

No.

The Patriots drafted Eugene Wilson in the 2nd round, who happened to be a pretty good CB at Illinois.

He became their starting FS very quickly.

It's not an unheard of move.

I guess I have to say it again...

The Patriots drafted a talented corner in Eugene Wilson in the 2nd round and he quickly became their starting FS and did a very credible job.

If Jenkins becomes the starting corner opposite Newman, where would you want Scandrick? On the field or on the bench?

I prefer the field.

Roy Williams was the next Ronnie Lott....

If the game was played the same way today as it was when Ronnie Lott played, he might have been the next Ronnie Lott. Unfortunatly for RLW, and for us, it's not so he wasn't.

Just as an aside, I never liked the pick with Roy. I think he's a good guy and all but I'm just not a fan of taking safeties that high in the draft. That's just me.

I think that is a fair comparison...they wanted to get him on the field...and it has been a big success. I hope we can do the same.

I'll say mine again too...Scandrick is a Baller and needs to be on the field :)

HUGE success.

Such a huge success that NE let him walk because he kept getting dinged up. And then in Houston last year, he got injured. Again.

Sounds like this is mostly about getting your best players on the field.

If and when a team goes three wide, it wouldn't be at all surprising to see Dallas stay in a base package. Let Scandrick cover the slot, and go with Hamlin as a single high safety.

The way things are now some of the big CBs who play the run well are going to be put at SS. I think FS is going to stay more cover than run but they are going to be ask to provide run support.

These kinds of moves just makes the front seven to be more important than it already is.

He was acceptable. Played on 2 SB winners.

Regardless though, it doesn't mean that a CB can't be an acceptable FS.

Injury's are another thing, but he was a good FS. its the NFL they will get banged up. Look at Henry and T-new...how many games have they missed over the last three seasons...too many.

The league is going more and more to five and six cover DBs and a cover LB while putting as much pressure up front as possible.

Unless we get a couple more quality corners I don't like this idea cause now we'd be turning an area of strength back into one of weakness.

and who will play cb # 3-5? i'd rather play pat watkins at FS and leave CB depth good.....

What?!

You can't be serious. Watkins couldn't tackle a deflated blowup doll.
