Stannis: "If you had to choose between Rhaenrya, & Aegon, who would you have choosen?"
Shireen: "I wouldn't have chosen either, Its all the choosing sides that made everything so horrible."

RIP Shireen.... Those words may prove to be prophecy.

Judging by how things have been in the show, and how they give us lead up scenes, I think Olley or however you spell his name is next to betray Jon. He just has that look in him like he's full of anger.

Absolutely.... Jon has too trust, and is much too kind... Stannis pointed that out when he kept Allister around, and allowed Olly to stick around for the meetings between them...

Shall Jon's lessons... be his ascension.

Yes it is pretty obvious ( i say this and now watch them take a different route lol) that Olly is going to be the one who does the thing. Those that have read the book get it. Funny thing is...I don't think there is an Olly at all in the book.

Either way they have made it pretty obvious that he is the one going to do it.

The writers did a poor job with the Stannis character imo. It removes our struggle to identify him. The stone, but passionate character they gave him is now rendered useless, because the act he led is easily the most terrible act on the show. I don't know which way the book is going with this.... but I don't think this was wise character development. Some might say he had no choice, but the writers had a choice in the direction they were going to take this.

Oh, I can think of plenty of acts which were worse. This one, while done well, didn't really register as a major event for me. Of course, I've never cared all that much about Stannis anyway.

Also, as far as the books and this scene go, apparently this is something that will happen, but hasn't happened yet (and based on the current situation in the books, not in exactly the same way).

I guess the whole idea of making Stannis seem more human this season was to lull us into a false sense of security when it came to his daughter and the red priestess.
I don't think that was in the book and if it was I missed it so until last night I did not think it would happen.

However as I have noted before, if you see the start of each episode when they go and show previous topics...you always get a good idea of what is going to happen. Well when they showed the leeches I knew his daughter was in danger. When he made Sir Davos go, he knew it, I think Davos knew it and of course I imagine most of us figured it out at that time.

I normally watch the episode live and I will watch it again in the morning before heading to work (early riser). I had to fast forward through that part with the screams. Oh and now that the mother finally waked up (little late) I wonder if that will play a part going forward as we all know Stannis still wants to get with the red woman after the first time but she keeps spurning him. Stannis' wife was ok with them being together but now maybe she has woken up after not caring and not really liking her own daughter before. I doubt it but that is something to wonder about going forward. Hell, Fury Woman Scorned and all lol.

The other part...making Sir Meryn Trant even worse than he already was. I understand they want to make a bad guy and he was that already. I can understand where they want to make him even worse in order for Arya to justify it to her teacher and the many faced god's acts of assassination. But man did we have to go there. I know it could have been worse and heard the girl crying or something but still...ugggh that with Stannis and his daughter.
Future book spoiler....

Per the show runners, GRRM told them to kill off Shireen that way. Presumably because she's going to end up dying in similar fashion in future books (though she and Melisandre are still back home at Dragonstone.

Yep. I'm incredibly torn watching these last episodes. I hate getting ahead of the books, but there's no way I"m not watching the end of this season. For the final season, maybe, I wait until the final book comes out, if I can, but it's hard to stop when you're already this far along the story line.

They're at the wall.

There's lots of different ways to skin a cat. Er,..sacrifice a daughter.

That scene was horrific, btw. I was convinced Davos was going to take her with him against Stanis' orders up until it was obvious he wasn't.

I know there is at least one more season. Any thoughts after that?

The last 2 weeks have been riveting and disturbing - which is why this is the best show on television.

Jon is too much like the rest of the Starks. They are the only honorable , decent people in the show. Those are bad traits when playing the game of thrones.

For some odd reason, I had respect for Stannis up until this past episode. He seemed like a man driven to become king, but I thought he had some honor.?i was wrong.

- Arya was supposed to poison and kill the Thin Man, but just before she is about to carry out the deed, she sees Mace Tyrell and Meryn Trant, well that changed things. Arya eventually tracks Trant to a brothel, where she learns that he is a pedophile. Trant is on her list of people she wants to kill, hopefully she'll kill Trant. She does have a problem though, she lied to Jaqen. She tells him the Thin Man was not hungry and did not buy her oysters, not sure Jaqen bought that. Arya might be in some deep trouble.

- Jon and Tormund return to the Wall, accompanied by the surviving wildlings from Hardhome. Jon has had a bad week, he needs a nice whirlpool bath.

- Well it is official, Melisandre and Stannis need to die. I mean Stannis just killed his own daughter for crying out loud, that death was hard to watch. That has to be the worst TV death I have ever seen, Shireen burning to death at the stake while she screams for her parents to save her was horrible to view. I have been saying this since season 3, can we please kill this Fire Woman. She and/or Stannis better die in the season finale. I hope Davos kills Stannis, Davos will not let Shireen die in vain. He will kill Melisandre and/or Stannis, no way that he lets that slide by. Kick some butt Davos

- Seems all is fine now between the people of Dorne and the Lannisters, we shall see how long that lasts.

- Jorah finally gets Daenerys love, ok well not really but she forgives him. Then all hell breaks lose. Once again, the Sons of the Harpy go on the attack, and they are about to kill everyone, then bam, Drogon to the rescue.

I wonder why that the dragon didn't first clear the area before landing, might turn out to be a big mistake......hope he makes it.

It's only a feeling but I would not be surprised if Jaqen orchestrated the scenario where Arya discovers Trant at the harbor. It could be a test within a test to discover whether she has the will to assassinate Trant by assuming the guise of one of the brothel prostitutes--something she abhors. Pedophilia is his true weakness, one which Arya could exploit to get through his defenses and kill him.

Davos will hate what happened to Shireen but I doubt he avenges her by killing her father. He is very loyal to Stannis. Also, time was tight but he could have tried smuggling Shireen out of Stannis' camp as he did Gendry, who Melisandre wanted to sacrifice as well.

I agree its time for Melisandre to die (horribly) but I wonder if that's an easy task or actually possible? Beric Dondarrion believed in the Lord of Light like her and he keeps coming back to life after being killed. Or I think he's still alive somewhere. I don't remember anyone finishing him off permanently in previous episodes.

I think Prince Doran has a hidden agenda for the Lannisters, one which he doesn't want Ellaria to disrupt with her own plans for revenge. His son may be part of the plan now that Jaime will escorting him and Myrcellla back to King's Landing. Or maybe there will be a peace between Dorne and the Lannisters as you say. Doran seems lilke a calculating but wise ruler.

I think Drogon instinctively thought her mother would take the hint and jump on his back soon after he landed. He could have flown back up at any time and fried the Harpys (sp?) long distance and out of range of their spears but he chose to stay near and defend her on the ground. I think Drogon will heal quickly. Or I hope so at least. It's merciless but I wouldn't mind if Dany freed her other children and told them to burn Meereen to the ground. The slaves should be happy for their freedom. The masters should be happy some of them survived their blood purge. They're all ungrateful. I say cleanse the earth and move on from the murderous oops family forum.

I think it is is a test to see if Arya is still Arya or will follow orders.
She derails herself because of her anger and hatred.
She wants to serve Arya, not the many-faced God.

I love Arya's character by the way!

Doran has heard of the new Queen rising and is placing himself in proximity of King's Landing (via his son) to assist with the fall of the Lannisters forever. (think Reigns of Castamere).
His son has won Myrcella over to the point she is really not much of a Lannister at all.

Dany is pretty much clearly destined to be Queen of all. The question is will she last once she gets that throne of swords.
Tyrion may be the best possible adviser to her.

Drogon will be fine. He is a dragon! and he flew away just fine once Dany finally hopped aboard.
Maureen deserves to end as ash for sure.
