I don't know if it's the same way in the books and/or if the intention is to show that life has just been getting harder and harder for everyone, but has anyone noticed that every character has lost the personalities that made them interesting as of late (particularly this season since the writers started deviating from GRRM)?

Jamie used to be a very cunning and manipulative smooth talker. Now he's pretty pathetic. What was the point of that scene last night? His niece (daughter) walks in and he asks her to come home, she says no, and he says "uhh, ok", and she walks away.

Cersei has no personality anymore either. Her monologues are boring and repetitive. She talks about her much she loves her kids and her motives are no longer clear.

Tyrion is boring now. No more sense of humor. Doesn't say much.

Daenerys is annoying now. I used to want her to rule. Now I'm kinda hoping someone kills her. She seems like an idiot now. She's no longer inspirational. She's just a boring immature high school girl.

The Lady of Thornes, the queen's grandmother, used to be one of my favorites. She was hilarious, strong and could talk with the best of them. Last night she basically had nothing intelligent to say to the High Sparrow.

I don't know. As I said, maybe it's the intention to show that everyone is defeated and a shell of their former selves. But no one is interesting anymore and the dialogues are boring. The characters and the dialogues are what used to carry the show. Now it's simply just waiting to see what happens next.

The subtext in the dialog is not as in depth as it used to be... ill admit that.
It was like a code, I used to love reading into the subtleties.

I thought the dialogue last night was excellent all the way around.

They have ruined Tyrion this season . He has always been extremely smart and he was entertaining to the point of taking over the show . What happened to the booze-loving , woman chasing dwarf that I liked so much? There was dragons on the show, but they must not make any difference in the storyline. Jamie was a cool guy and he is pathetic now. Reek has become the main entertainment . That really shows how bad the show has become this season. I forgot Jon Snow, he has potential, but they do nothing with him. This whole season is s mess IMO.

/Agreed

Jon Snow, is really the only one I care about. I think, in the end, it is either him or his half sister that controls the iron throne.

I won't address everything you mentioned.. but as for Tyrion, I think he had to have a character shift.... Murdering his father was his crossroads (crossbow), and now he's embarking on finding out why he actually exist.. (for years he was told he should be dead) This is why the philosophical conversation between him and Jorah was interesting.

Tyrion told him that he always drinks, and wasn't able to finish his sentence about what he would be if he didn't drink, before that he couldn't close with the young woman at the ***** house, and didn't know why... Jorah asked Tyrion "Do you believe in anything greater than ourselves, do you believe their is a plan for the world?" Tyrion responded "No".... Jorah went on "Neither did I, I was a cynic just like you. Than I saw a girl step into a great fire with three stone eggs..... she emerged unhurt with three baby dragons singing... It's hard to be a cynic after that.."

There is a lot to take out of that.... the symbolism of three, the symbolism of fire, the symbolism of song....... but the fact that Tyrion had only read about Stone Men, had only read about Dragons, and now he's seeing these things, means there is a place for him, so change was inevitable... You may not enjoy him as much... but I think his change was on the horizon...... as Valis told him the world need talented men like him.... because he's well read and strategic.... can't be a drunk and a whoremonger forever. And Dany said in episode 1 of this season... "Im a queen not a politician" ..... Enter Tyrion.

mind you, the book series is called "A song of Fire & Ice":D

Lancel has a lot to say.....

If it wasn't for Little Finger... this whole show doesn't happen.... he started it all...... He is Chaos...

gifts all around...

Lancell ratting out Cersei.... Queen of thorns will get some satisfaction.

The gift poom poom for Samwell.... (who will travel to the citadel... his time at the wall is running short.... he will "keep reading", and Aemon told Gilly to get baby Sam south, which mean big Sam as well)

The gift of life for Braun in the form of serum, not to mention a flash from the hottest sand snake (she's bad!)...

The land where J. Snow is traveling to, where the wildlings are is called "the gift"

and finally, gift himself....Tyrion...

I'm surprised more people here aren't giving Sam more love for what happened in the last episode--more love in addition to what he got during the episode, that is.

No, I think snow is her nephew. As for his sister, the one who married the halfling.
