There were so many intriguing storylines and supernatural elements which turned out to be pointless. What was Jon's whole purpose? He was brought back from the dead by the Lord of Light for what? His brother turned into the 3 Eyed Raven to reveal his true origins for what? So he could cause Dany to go Mad Queen because she was threatened by him? But was she even? It seems like him not putting out and her friend losing her head was sufficient enough to turn her.

What is the point of the Wall and the Night's Watch if the night king and the White Walkers are dead. The wall and the Night's Watch entire reason for being there was the protection from the Night King and White Walkers.

What are they supposed to be doing now?

...another failure of the season eight storyline.

Ostensibly it would be explained to protect against Wildling raids. In reality, it was a life-sentence in prison without an actual prison.

The show didn't make it clear but I'm pretty sure Jon didn't even stay at Castle Black. He just abandoned his post and decided to live life as a Wildling. It wasn't even clear who if anyone was in charge at Castle Black. Maybe Jon had so much respect there that they just let him leave.

I don't think there was anyone in charge. Bran most likely knew there was nothing to keep Jon from leaving, and no reason for him to stay. In fact, every but Grey Worm probably knew that.

Jon's watch died when he died. When he was sent to Castle Black, he didn't say the oath again, so he didn't abandon his post. I think the Night's Watch that remained just let him go rather than force him to take the black again. It was probably a pretty easy decision since the Wildlings there outnumbered the Night's Watch by a significant margin even if the Watch wanted Jon.

My guess is that the Night's Watch from then on gives new recruits a choice. Take the black or go beyond the wall and never return.

Without Jon and Bran the Night King murders everyone.... how is that ending?

She turned on Jon because he was the true heir.....her whole claim was null and void

If Jon would of killed the night king It would of made sense but it was arya instead. The writers got caught up on giving us the unexpected, a trait that's well established with got. The problem is theres always a lot of substance before the unexpected. These guys just do it to do it.

As of now Jon was resurrected to unite the people of Westeros to defeat the night king and ultimately kill the mad queen. It sounds good on paper and that's about it.

The best part of the finale was Jon giving ghost some love and Drogon grieving for his mom.

Beric had been resurrected numerous times and he wondered what his purpose was too. Jon was pivotal to success, but didn't mean he was destined to "win", he was the pawn, the spark that was needed to set others in motion. Jon's purpose was to bring people together and fight for those that can't fight themselves. Beric tells him as much when he says "You and I won't find much joy while we're here, but we can keep others alive. We can defend those who can't defend themselves."

Arya "prophecy" isn't about major deaths. She's going to kill lots of people (all her time with the faceless men). Mel just repeated it and emphasized blue for that specific situation. No need to try and associate the other colors to other characters.

That was my original though as well, that it simple meant she'd kill a lot of people - until Melisandre specifically stressed blue eyes, during the Battle of the Dead. I think the blue eyes comment was specific to the reanimated, but the brown and green probably didn't mean anyone in particular....but just in case anyone feels otherwise, there's someone to name.

Where in the Castle was Arya, when she decided to go after the Night King? I have to believe Bran specifically chose that location so that the White Walkers and dead would be facing away from her location.

BTW, that's an ugly castle....and the big holes in the tops of the towers don't seem to make any sense for a place that gets a lot of snow.
