We used to have a restaurant down here in South Texas named the Brush Country Inn....it was close to the King Ranch....they used to serve a huge chicken fried steak called The Saddle Blanket....I had it a couple of times....delicious.

i've heard that Mary’s Cafe in Strawn is the best around, next time I go to Possum Kingdon Lake I am going to try it out.

That sounds incredible!! Used to be a place by the Sonora airport called the Devil's River Inn that served KC Steaks for 2 stacked about a foot high crusted in garlic. I think the steak place may still be there as part of another motel but likely new owners and no idea if it's cooked the same as it used to be. We flew down there one day just for that during my IFR training days. All the airlines were deviating around a CB with tops to FL350, and I was about to key the mic to do the same when my instructor said "oh let's fly underneath it and see what happens." Well you already know what happened LOL A kick in the arse and a loss of 1000 ft in 5 seconds from the microburst. It was your typical high base west Tx thunderstorm so no danger of hitting the ground but that was quite a ride.
Fortunately I heard the Western Sky steak house in San Angelo is still there and still does huge garlic crusted steaks as well!!

I'm smoking a couple briskets.

Wife said she's keeping the sides, a secret surprise.???

So I'm returning the favor and keeping my beverage a surprise. Maybe some beer, maybe some bourbon, maybe some rum. Maybe all 3. If it's the latter, she probably is not gonna be happy with the surprise!
:igglestrophy: and my liquor cabinet.

Spaghetti food today for a continuous feed through the game. Angel hair spaghetti, with a boat load of pork/beef meat balls in a garlic and mushroom sauce thickly in it. A garlic bread folded toast and cold peach tea.

Our Cowboys should keep me good and hungry for this one!

The best CFS that I ever had was at a place called The Cottonwood Inn in La Grange, TX. It had this fantastic yellow gravy and the steak was tender as it could be. The restaurant is no longer there though
We ate CFS in a joint in Colorado once. Just don't. The cream gravy was green. We walked out without eating and left the "food" on the table. Only one thing peeps go to CO for and it ain't CFS. :muttley:

I brined a couple salmon overnight and put them in the smoker this morning. Fall tradition. We’ll have brown beans, hot German potato salad and deviled eggs for sides
Did some Salmon like yourself this morning, along with some asparagus and mushrooms. The wife gets back about gametime, salad to make it through lunch while awaiting the boys. Also my companion the iced lemon water. Big change from my normal nachos and beverages. Go cowboys, we are behind you 100 percent.

That looks like it came from the Boomerang

I used to go to San Angelo every summer for Wade Phillips clinic, I'm pretty sure we ate there once. Good stuff...Blaines Pub downtown is a classic bar...I still have one of their T-shirts..it reads, Rehab is for Quitters! Lol

Love me some German potato salad. Lived there for 6 years as a kid. My Mom passed the recipe, tips & tricks down to my wife. Hardly ever have it anymore, but done right it's awesome. As for devilled eggs that's a regular for the holidays.

Started off with homemade buttermilk biscuits & omlets. Looking at burgers for after the game.
