I just get amused by the perspectives here. Does anyone here know what the #1 criticism of Linehan was at Detroit? He was PASS HAPPY. lol. And now, all of the sudden, he is Mr. Run Game in Dallas? Overruling a pass happy Jason Garrett? Just silly.
Accessing articles from 2007 and 09 Misery makes for a busy man.
So Garrett is pass happy until this season, .. and now he has changed his whole offensive philosophy all on his own? Let's talk about silly.
Look, you like him as a head coach, .. I don't think he brings much to the table.
Guess who out coached who? Yup, Garrett and his staff took Payton and his staff behind the woodshed. 3
I like to go back to show this has always been a problem with Garrett. We could go to last year when Garrett abandoned the run against Green Bay, despite Murray going off. How about 2010 and 2011, when we were amongst the last in the league in play-action.
It's not very difficult... It's damn easy refuting you guys...
I was saying back when everyone was up in arms about Garrett's play calling (the run game), IT IS ABOUT THE OFFENSIVE LINE. He CAN'T do what we want him to do with play calling because he doesn't HAVE THE LINE to do it. No one (relatively speaking) would listen. It is just too easy to "blame Garrett." So whether you agree with me or not, I haven't changed my tune on that. I thought that when they got the line fixed you would see a commitment to the run game, whether he was calling plays or someone else. We got the line fixed and that is what we are seeing.
Its wonderful to win the argument in one's own mind

This isn't accurate.
There were numerous times - clearly pointed out - when this team WAS running the ball effectively. But Garrett just didn't have the patience to stick with it and would get pass-happy under any circumstances and then have a lame excuse for it on Monday morning.
This team is better off having him as a walk around coach and not calling plays. If that's what works best and allows the team to win? Great for everybody.

And to put blinders on when you're getting your clock cleaned.
More power for Romo and Linehan means less power for Garrett. Linehan will truly run the show on offense with Garrett having far less say.
Jones revealed that Garrett was essentially the offensive coordinator last season, even though Bill Callahan had the title. Garrett even called the plays, especially in the red zone, despite the Cowboys' constant public statements that Garrett was giving up play-calling. That became a problem for Callahan.
Now Linehan will have final say on the offense. Garrett will focus more on the defense, special teams and all the other responsibilities of a head coach. It seems like Garrett's role changes every season.
Linehan & the oline is making everyone look good right now. Including....Jerry Jones.... And we know he is terrible at his job.
It's clear the coaching STAFF has improved.
I look it as a group effort. They all work well together. And it is a welcome change.
