Garrett > Payton

He was better than Payton last night. For their respective careers...no way.

It appears that Payton is struggling with the same thing Garrett has struggled with...no commitment to the run and a lack of a running game in general combined with a weak defense.

If you want to give props to Garrett, then you really need to give props to Linehan, Marinelli and Callahan.

Good post, and I can agree with everything you said. A part of what tickles me about these guys JUST praising the coordinators is this.

Linehan's head coaching record:
8-8, 3-13, 0-4

Marinelli's head coaching record:
3-13, 7-9, 0-16

Combined: 6 seasons - 21 wins - 63 losses

Garrett in 3+ seasons - 24 wins - 22 losses

But its all the coordinators and none of Garrett? Laughable.

My job here is done. I got my seven pages of posts. 5 of them from khiladi.

:flagwave:

You tell me? I merely guessed. I honestly don't care. I love the Frederick pick and defended that pick from day one when so many were crying about it.

Maybe you should read the links I provided. Jerry consulted Marinelli and changed the draft pick at the last minute to Frederik. They had Travis slotted in the second round. The fact that the Garret and Tom had Floyd, a 3-4 tackle, slated for a 4-3 is even more absurd, considering that Jerry had to consult Marinelli in the end. That's why their was confusion in the board room.

Garrett's offense was based on a power-blocking scheme. It has nothing to do with him. This is a zone-blocking scheme with plenty of pulls and sweeps, a product of Callahan and the picks, probably McClay.

and BP wanted Spears over Ware and the point is? Oh that's right if Dallas loses then Garrett is the joke yet he has his team ready to play and kicked the crud out of New Orleans but that is other people. Fricken JOKE.

Being a HC and a Coordinator are two different things. And their situations were far different (coaching at Detroit under Matt Millen and the other coaching at STL).

This is the best I've seen the team look since 2009 and better than any time under Garrett. In fact, Garrett just got his first 3-wins in a row of his career. And I don't think it's a coincidence with Marinelli and Linehan becoming the coordinators.

But, it's also important to applaud Bill Callahan. I think he's done a terrific job with the O-Line. Leary and Free looked great out there. Before Callahan, we were getting people saying that Dallas couldn't figure out how to get O-Linemen. Free had to take a pay cut to stay in the league and Leary was an undrafted free agent. Tyron is looking better than ever, Frederick is looking like a *steal* and Martin looks like a great move.

Thank you... And this was the guy Jerry refused to let walk to the Ravens this off-season...

The scary thing is, Romo is just getting started under Linehan and this OL. I only see them getting more efficient and better. He's even running for 20 yard pick-ups when he sees wide-open field. He was totally in control of the field last night. It wasn't simply scrambling to keep plays alive.

Though the Saints defense isn't that good, we looked different.

True, funny how winning teams and coaches seem to have very good staffs. This is not Jason alone but then it was not Jimmy Johnson alone either it was a alot of quality coaches who worked long hours to build a winner.

If we had gotten blown out last night would you be blaming Garrett? Or would you say he's just a cheerleader and blame the OC and DC?

Nevermind, we know the answer already.

Give it a rest. Enjoy the win!

Nobody enjoyed the win more than I did.

Our offensive line looks great. They are the reason we are winning, I hope they can stay healthy.
The commitment to running the ball is what many have been wanting for quite a while.

Our defense is playing better than expected.

Which of those two is Garrett in charge of? Which do you see him running during the game? Be honest and tell me what you see him doing during the game.

What is his expertise in all of this?

We did need to throw a red flag once I think in the first half when we created a fumble after a Saints reception, which was ruled incomplete. But that never happened.

You guys can defend him with all of your cute little insults, but it is what it is. They have neutered him to the point that he just stands and watches the game.

Jimmy never called a play does that mean it was all Norv and all Wannstead and Butch Davis? As HC you are in charge of it all, if your staff fails it is your failure it they succeed it is your success. There are several HC who do not call offense or defense but they are responsible for the entire team.

JG has been stripped or most of his duties. He just supervises. But sure give him and the rest of the coaching staff credit. They out coached the saints last night. Rob Ryan sucks.

Guess who out coached who? Yup, Garrett and his staff took Payton and his staff behind the woodshed. 3 wins in a row while sitting at 3-1. Haters going to make excuses and continue their hate, but I'm enjoying this!

Are you?

Did you really have to throw the hater moniker in there? Seriously.

I personally think it is ridiculous to bring Jimmy Johnson's name into a discussion about Jason Garrett. But since you have.

There was no doubt what Jimmy did for this team, no doubt what he brought to the table, no doubt whose team that was. The team took on his personality.

So again, what does Garrett bring? What is he directly responsible for during the week or on game day?

They have taken everything out of his hands that he could mess up. So now he stands, smiles, spits a little, and claps a lot.

We could do better.

I can agree with you to a great extent on your first point, but I think the whole different situations thing is overblown because I don't think ANYONE has consistently won under Jerry since Jimmy left. Good golly look at this team's history since 1996. Why in the world can't people just admit, that if this thing gets turned around, Jason Garrett DESERVES a lot of credit.

If you can't see that this team is taking on what Garrett is selling, you are willfully blind.

Stripped is a ridiculous statement. Garrett made the choice (however reluctantly) to become a walk around head coach. Proof? He took duties back from Callahan last season.
