It matters less in the playoffs. Dallas' depth helped, but Dirk Nowitzki won the title for us playing almost 40 minutes a game. Without that, depth doesnt matter. Likewise, if SA plays Duncan, Parker and Ginobili 25-30 minutes a game in the playoffs they won't make it out of the west.

You're understating it their depth helped tremendously. Dirk had a great run no doubt, but he did have some off nights. In the Finals he only shot 41% I believe, but thanks to huge contributions from guys like Terry, Barea, Stevenson, even Peja played well at times.

Peja didn't log a single minute in the Finals, Stevenson played 15-20 MPG for defense and Barea's minutes shrank as the Finals progressed. All that is beside the point however, the Mavericks won the Title because of Dirk. Without him and his big minutes, it doesn't happen.

The Lakers were deep from 2000-2002. Horry, Fisher, Fox, George, Grant, Harper, Shaw...but they wouldn't have won any of those titles playing Kobe and Shaq less than 30 MPG in the playoffs.

Show me where I said they didn't win because of Dirk? Of course they did, but they wouldn't have win without their depth.

But they could have certainly won it with LESS depth. DeShawn Stevenson and Peja Stojakavich were not the difference between winning and losing the Finals. Without Dirk, you could have 10 Jason Terrys and it doesnt matter.

If the Spurs win the title, it won't be because Gary Neal or DeJuan Blair played well and allowed Duncan and Ginobili to rest for half the game. It will be because Ginobili, Parker and Duncan played a ton of minutes and played very well in those minutes, which is my question: Can they hold up under the pressure of increased minutes?

It's going to happen, it always does. No point in arguing that. Can they withstand it is the issue.

Rooting hard for the Bees tonight. If they beat the Paperclips tonight we clinch the 3rd seed and can rest the big 3 Thursday.

I fail to see how we would need to change our rotation patterns much to beat the jazz and clippers! Let me start by asking you, who was dirk's backup? Answer that question to yourself and you will see WHY he needed to play so many minutes! And another thing, as it stands, 11 blazers>>>>>>>>12 jazz, 11 lakers >>>>> 12 clippers! So again, we should be able to get to the conference finals fairly easily, unless the grizz beat the clips (fingers crossed)

Ugh the Grizzlies will almost certainly beat the Clippers so you won't have a cakewalk to the WCF at all and neither will the other team that makes it which would most likely be OKC or us.

Whoever wins the West (I think there is 4 true contenders the Spurs, Thunder, Lakers, and Grizz) will have a very difficult road.

The thing that gives me hope is how well the clips have played since that lakers game, if they don't win I hope they will at least beat each other up for 6 or 7 games

ya, i think the hornets just ran out of steam, they dont have many good players going. thats how teams tank, shut down half the roster and the rest are just too tired by the end of games! you know those players want to win

Stern trying to screw us over one last time. Obvious tank job. Oh well Clips last two games are somewhat tough. @ Atlanta & New York.

Who are Sterns Darlings this year in playoffs? I see OKC and Heat getting special Ref attention. More money More money. Stern is all about money.

Definitely OKC especially after the Artest/Harden incident yesterday. After that happened the officiating was just downright awful.

Your own thug player is the one who is screwing you over.

He didn't screw us over at all. Yes what he did was dumb, but unless he's suspended for the rest of the playoffs which I doubt then we should still be able to beat Dallas or Denver without him.

As predicted, Houston choked when it counts. I wonder if they wanted to lose those games to get more out of the draft this year. New Jersey was supposed to get Houston's first round pick but it is lottery protected and they will get Dallas' first round pick if the Mavs can win their opening playoff series. Add New York's first round pick and that is 3 picks in the first round.

I guess I can pull for the Mavs for the next few weeks

damn! they probably have enough fire power to move up a LOT in the draft! id trade those three picks and a player, maybe lowry, and try to move up to get thomas robinson and resign dragic!
