Genuine outrage

Can only tell you is that not only does the coaching staff think you're wrong, they believe strongly you're wrong. Time will tell who is right.

Going by practice reports, and of course last season, nobody with eyes could strongly disagree with that. He is struggling thus far in camp according to those writing about it.

That's the thing. You don't watch the games carefully and rewatch and scrutinize Costa on a per snap basis. You just throw out 5 or 6 snaps out of over a thousand snaps during the course of a season that looked especially bad aesthetically and form an emotional response rather than an analytical. This is typical of emotional knee jerk fans who form these agendas against persona non-Grata players and paint these laughable caricatures of them falling down and crapping their pants on every snap.

Whether this ignorance is intentional or not, it is most certainly inaccurate. His bad snaps alone constitute more than "5 or 6" plays, and his putrid play defined entire games at times. To suggest anything else is to turn a blind eye to the obvious.

Swell use of the term "persona non-grata", though. It takes some of the smell out of this post. Oh, and Phil Costa is the very definition of a "laughable caricature".

That is my feeling towards the mindset that it is in any way acceptable to have Phil Costa snapping the ball to Tony Romo. Costa is to the center position what Tyler Perry is to comedy, a waste of space who is atrocious at his chosen craft yet for some unknown reason is beloved and defended by large groups of people.

We have championship aspirations and yet our front office and coaching staff are still considering starting Costa at center? Costa has no right to even be on the team much less starting, and continuing to risk the health of a great player like Romo over this stiff is appalling amost beyond comprehension.

Whether it be Bernadeau, Arkin, ANYBODY ELSE...this staff has to find a way to find someone better. It is a necessity. No longer should Romo be forced to jump up and catch his horrible snaps, no longer should he have to scramble the moment he gets the ball because a defensive tackle tossed Costa aside like a fifth grader and no longer should our backs be forced to bounce it outside because t-rex arms couldn't hold a block for longer than half a second.

Why does everyone do this thing where they take the popular position, but then create a straw man that pretends that everyone is against them. If you took a poll, more than half of Cowboys fans would say that they want to replace Costa. Another quarter are pessimistic but willing to give him a chance. Maybe a quarter of fans (probably less) saw enough improvement to be cautiously optimistic.

It's fun to be on an island, I guess, but calling Costa "beloved" and then following up with a bunch of exaggerated criticisms is pretty dumb. Way, way, way too much negative hyperbole in this thread. You're going to have a coronary this season if remembering an average but young player's performance last year gives you fits like this.

no matter how it shakes out (kowalski when healthy or Bernadeau if possible) let's just hope it isn't Costa because he doesn't pass the sniff test: he stinks. Anyone that denies that is clueless or trolling IMO...what hurts the most is this cripples the offense to an extent they won't have much of a chance in that first game vs. the giants def. line: 4 weeks away and our interior oline is a mess....:bang2: :bang2: ...........THANKS JERRAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this thread is stupid, Tyler Perry is plenty funny.

Your credibility quotient dropped like stock in 2008 with me for this statement.

Milton Berle in drag was funny.

Tyler Perry in drag is.................................................not.

Over the first 8 games, Costa was the 32nd best starting center in football. Over the last 8, he was the 25th best center in football. You and I have different definitions of "pretty good". I wouldn't call being one of the 8 worst center in football on your best day "pretty good" but then again, I also thought Alan Ball was pretty pitiful back when it was cool to say that he improved late in the season. So what do I know?

The Patriots scored 500+ points with Center play that was barely better than what Costa provider. We can afford to have one weak link on the interior offensive line in today's NFL. We just can't have three.

This is stupid. Go back and watch the second have of last year. He was a pretty good center. This is a litmus test like Romo is a litmus test. People that think Costa can't play center are just pointing out that they don't know what the hell they're talking about.

I don't think Garrett agrees with you.

I would like a better center too, but I have to agree with Theogt and the others, your post was/is stupid.

Slant, there could be many extenuating reasons for the results Costa turned in last year.

I am hoping conditioning was one reason he stunk on ice.

I will give him the first part of this season before laying into him. I understand your concerns and hold them myself. But we are not talking about Alan Ball, who should never have been invited back.

We may be later in the season, but I'm willing to wait and see.

Milton Berle was boring, not funny at all. I'm not saying Tyler Perry is funny either, but him in drag and Martin Lawrence in drag, is at least humorous/amusing Milton Berle was not even close to that.

Those shows was so boring, I hated that time of the night.

You are going to have some fans defend him just because he is a Cowboy. These same fans will be the first to put him down when he is replaced. He is putrid at the center position. Anybody thinking otherwise, knows very little about oline play. It is all a mute point. Dallas does not treat the line as a priority. The team attempts to bandaid the positions with jags and castoffs. The sad thing about this is that Romo is the one who is paying for it. Fans will use other teams lines to justify this line being bad. That is no concern of mine because other teams don't run the same offense. Last year this offense was very limited by line play, but I guess that is okay with some people. They think adding another player at the sexy positions will improve everything.

I can't help but wonder (I am not predicting this) if by season's end people will be praising Costa for a solid season turned in?

I know it happened to me once before with Kyle Kosier when we first got him. Maybe Costa can be the one to surprise people this time? I am too cautious to say he can or can't. Just wondering aloud.

I'm getting the feeling Coach doesn't think so.

I think the coaches felt like a good offseason and he would improve, but he is still having the same problems. He did work hard, but he just doesn't have the talent.

I won't pretend to know what he is thinking about Center. I personally would not have kept Costa.

they thought Costa would be a decent center in 2011 as well.

So their judgement certainly is not 100% is it?

with the cap problems not likely to get any better in the next few years and everything else, they might have decided to just grit their teeth for the time being on center.

Did Dallas split the penalty wrongly assessed by the hypocritical league over two seasons, or did they just take the 10 mil hit this year?

I hope karma steps in and Dallas knocks the snot out of the Giants twice this year because of that ****** who voted to punish us for biz as usual.
