Garrett talked Jerry into rebuilding the offensive line with first-rounders. That is completely not what Jerry Jones does.

Garrett talked Jerry into a youth movement. Jerry doesn't like cutting guys like Gurode, James, Newman, Barber, Brooking, Spears, etc. But he did.

But it's not just Garrett. Stephen Jones has pushed Jerry to let Garrett and McClay build an approach to stick to. It's working.

Garrett didn't want Randy Gregory according to Cowboys reporters. He didn't want Greg Hardy either. Not sure on his feelings on Ro McClain. (Garrett has no patience for these types of players, whereas Jerry has an affinity for them because he has so much in common with them.)

Garrett isn't making all the decisions, but he has a major influence, which is more than what Wade Phillips had, or any other coach that would have come in here.

That is why Garrett should coach this team. Because nobody else would be given any say at all in personnel if a stadium doesn't need funding.

Point well taken. You also have to remember that fans don't view players as people with lives outside of football. Fans think because he's a professional NFL player that his mind is on football 24/7 - 365 days a year. There is a reason players are often referred to as "pieces."

We're all "pieces."

The best family man provides for his family above all else, first and foremost. That is woefully missing in America.

Do any of you KNOW what his family situation is/was? He has had custody issues right? What if it had something to do with that? Can you make the judicial system conform to your time line? Can you make the mother/s conform to your time line? You all come on here and says he isn't focused when in reality you have NO CLUE what his mind set is. Would I love for him to be at the completely "Voluntary" workouts? Yes I would but if he isn't there that is well within his rights per the CBA. If he has an injury or misses part of TC then I can see that as an issue.

But, as long as he balls on Sundays then I am ok with it as a fan.

Well you know how it is on here... some think they have it all figured out.
We as fans and being humans are far from perfect, but yet some feel they need to judge situations unknown to themselves. And expect the entire roster to be perfect and all pros at that. In spite of them, the players, being humans also.

I have not heard of what McClain's situation is, but it is getting old. But I am not holding that as an issue against him. But I do agree, as soon as Smith is ready, he will be given the chance to replace McClain, and give the team options to move on also, or not if they choose not to. Can never have enough good LB's, or CB's too.

I disagree about the pieces thing. I don't refer to anyone I work with or members of my family as "pieces," that's almost exclusively a term used for sports when referring to players/positions.

I do agree about men providing for family and how that's disappearing, but that's an entirely different can of worms.

Tony Romo's collarbone
Barry Horn: The most important question [about Tony Romo] is how long will he stay healthy?

Brandon George: That's the big question mark: can he stay healthy? The injuries have come, obviously, when he's been hit and fallen on that shoulder. So that's the key thing: how can he take the hits and how will that preventative surgery help? That Mumford procedure is supposed to help prevent further breaks, but there's nothing guaranteed. Obviously he gets hit the right way it could happen again.

Is Rolando McClain committed enough?
Kevin Sherrington: We had a guy missing from Valley Ranch last week and that was Rolando McClain.

I dont believe this nonsense for a second. Garrett simply doesnt have control over personnel here and never will as long as Jones and Jerry are in command. No doubt he has some input.

Personally I think whomever did the draft is a moron so I am actually give him a free pass on this one.

Well, management looks at metrics, rubrics, margins, functions, and ROI. Employees are pieces to a puzzle. Period.

Why would a football team be any different?

You do have valid points and it's not that I have no empathy towards what could be affecting his life.

But the fact is, those incidents have typically come around the same time of year for the Raiders, Ravens and us. The fact is these personal issues/incidents have become distractions for McClain, as they would most, in the past at the time of year where the other players are trying to start getting whatever edge they can.

So that's where I am saying he just isn't focusing. Whether he makes it that way himself or his circumstances do. It is what it is. Mandatory or not, the competition/other players are training and getting an edge being at practices where he is not. He should be entering his prime as of now and talent wise, was drafted as a blue chip prospect 8th overall at LB.

Goes to show how much talent he has because if he's this good practicing as is, imagine if he was able to get 100% in training to refine himself like the other players?

That's the point.

Tell that to the rich kids hooked on heroin.;) Your point in general is correct but a bit dated, etc. You have to do both. Provide and be emotionally available/present.

Please explain why Garrett wanted Floyd on Draft Day and did not get his way. He did not want to wait for FBeard. So he did not talk Jerry into passing on Floyd to rebuild the OL. This is reality. Garrett was surprised that we were not picking Floyd. He even stopped playing footsies with Charlotte during this period of time.

The "love your kid" part should be automatic if you're human.

I hear ya, was speaking more from personal observation/exp. Feel for some of them; had everything provided to them but are empty inside due to the lack of parenting presence/guidance/love, etc. A lot of their fathers would justify their parenting by simply providing, etc.

And Jaylon Smith does nothing to get you those 9 or 10 wins this year. That's my point.

But they believe they would've had 9 or 10 wins lats season fi it wasn't for Romo getting hurt. This team did not go into the offseason thinking they were a 4 win team. They came in thinking they are contenders.

The longer Garrett flops, the more his homers argue that every potentially good decision made is showing him gaining more control.

Let's ignore the fact that Ramsey was higher on he board, but the decision was actually made by Jerry to go with Zeke. Even Frederick is a result of Jerry squashing Sharif Floyd on advice from Marinelli. But that's spun into Garrett finally building the OL he wants.

Hell, even the story before this year's draft was "if Jerry gets his way.." And he did and Elliot is here.
