I don't know if he is any good or not, but 4 interceptions is pretty decent for a safety.

I'm guessing strong safety, I don't think the Boys want Hamlin at that position this year...

Sensabaugh is replacing a guy that was shot twice and everyone is worried about his character. Funny stuff.

Davis has been described by many as a high character guy. Parcells said it even

I searched for lists of the top 2009 free agents and looked at 5 of them. The only one he even appeared on had him listed as the 38th best DB. Is this guy really any good? Is he just being overlooked because of his off the field issues?

I read an article from a Saints slant (they were interested in him, too) that said he was the Jags' best defensive player over the last 5 games last season...

Cowboys to add safety Gerald Sensabaugh

The Cowboys took a step toward filling a hole in their secondary by agreeing to terms with safety Gerald Sensabaugh on a one-year deal Tuesday.
Sensabaugh, 25, started a career-high 13 games last season in Jacksonville and was credited with 82 tackles to go with four interceptions and four pass deflections. A fifth-round pick in 2005 by the Jaguars, Sensabaugh played in 50 games with 24 starts and had 168 tackles and six interceptions.
He has played mostly strong safety but started three games last season at free safety. Sensabaugh, 6-0, 204 pounds, played for secondary coach Dave Campo and special teams coach Joe DeCamillis in Jacksonville.
Having cut Roy Williams and with Keith Davis testing the free-agent market, the Cowboys had a major need at secondary. Ken Hamlin has started the last 32 games at free safety but there was little depth behind him. Patrick Watkins is coming off reconstructive shoulder surgery and Courtney Brown and Tra Battle have little experience. The Cowboys also signed Jerome Carter in January.
Davis has visited Kansas City but could still return to the Cowboys because he plays a vital special teams' role.
Considering the need, his youth, his interceptions, his speed, the 1 year only deal, and what could prove to be an upgrade over Roy Williams, I like it. I do wonder now, though, if the Scandrick rumor was more media bs. I don't think this acquisition was meant to replace Killa Keith, and this guy looks like he has the size to be effective in run support and the hands to be a hawk in passing situations. Whom ever we have as both Safety positions, I'm hoping they can be every-down players. I hate the situational approach, as I don't see the logic behind showing a team your hand (e.g. this player is in, we expect the run, if this player is in, we expect the pass). I'm not sure we should make the pre-snap read that easy for the opposing QB.

I hope they make Gerald the Strong Safety. Hamlin is not a SS, as evidenced by the one after another missed tackles at the end of the Baltimore game last year.

I don't think the cowboys think they're signing ed reed but he's a quaility vet signing at safety that we need for depth. He's a better safety than KD and he's an excellent ST'er.

More info on his recent arrest:

On Friday, Jacksonville Jaguars safety Gerald Sensabaugh Jr., a Kingsport native, was arrested for driving on a suspended license.

At about 1:41 p.m., Kingsport Police Officer Amanda Lunsford said she saw a black Bentley drive west on Center Street, turn onto Dale Street and circle the block.

Suspicious of a Bentley in the vicinity of Kingsport’s public housing, the officer said she ran the tag and found the car was registered to Sensabaugh. The Bentley pulled up outside Crew Cut Barber Shop, 806 E. Center St., and Sensabaugh went inside.

Lunsford then checked Sensabaugh’s driver license and discovered he’d been suspended for “multiple violations” and failure to satisfy a citation.

He has a history of speeding, she said, which could have resulted in a suspension due to the points accumulated on his license—although she added that his failure to satisfy a citation alone could have been what led to the suspension.

Lunsford then went into the shop and arrested Sensabaugh on a charge of driving on a suspended license.

Scandrick addressed it in a video on here yesterday. Apparently the coaches did talk to him about the possibility and he said he's willng to do whatever the team wants.

Sensabaugh sounds like a good signing as far as on-field production. I like what Jerry has done so far this off-season.

BIO: Led the team in tackles as a senior, posting 78/1/5. Previously a three-year starter at ETSU.

POSITIVES: Well-sized, hard-hitting safety, best defending the run. Quick locating the ball, takes good angles to the action and flashes on the scene. Strong at the point of attack, displays a closing burst of speed and wraps up tackling. Flashes skill in reverse and does a solid job reading the quarterback. Disciplined and remains with the action.

NEGATIVES: Struggles in coverage or when pulled over the slot receiver. Does a lot of face guarding and slow turning back to make a play on the ball. Not fluid in his hips and lacks a sense of timing in coverage.

ANALYSIS: Possessing solid size/speed numbers, Sensabaugh comes off a solid senior campaign. Must develop a feel for coverage and improve his ball skills, yet would be an effective strong safety.

PROJECTION: Late Sixth Round

I really liked Sensabaugh coming out of college, but after his multiple arrests during the past few years, I was glad we didn't draft him.

I sure hope our front office did their homework this time. They claimed to not have known about some of Adam Jones' prior incidents that were widely publicized, and Sensabaugh's incidents were much less publicized.

Is there any way you can copy and paste the dialogue here? I am unable to access it from my work computer.

Good mix of respsonses, but some posters actually said they wanted to keep him at $5 or $6 million per year. Others were ready to say goodbye because of his 3 arrests. More positive posts than negative IMO.

I really liked Sensabaugh out of college for us and he makes sense now. Regardless of where he signs, the gun incident has likely cost him a lot, so there is value. Totally believe we're signing him. Reality is, our recent housecleaning efforts are boring news. The media will "TMZ" this, and we'll make headlines for signing "Gatt-Man Jones"...

Why are they running his plates just for circling around the block....

Suspicious of a Bentley in the vicinity of Kingsport’s public housing,

I posted a short article from the local area up a few post. The reason he was in the area was to get a hair cut.

*I'm sure the officer already knew that the Bentley was Sensabaugh's, he's a local and its a small enough town(44,000)
