Because organizationally he was a disaster. And because most of the time, team management--who works first-hand with the coaching staff and is right there basing decisions off of an analysis more complicated than a won-loss record--knows who's doing good work and who's doing bad work.

One of the big reason I heard was this OBJ has been a cancer in locker room and McAdon't did nothing but kissing OBJ's arse.

So, what did them in this year?
Poor O-line, lack of running game, Eli getting older, defense not playing up to last years standards?
Before they lost Beckham, they were a mess.

Yep. Gonna be a big hypocrite and post an unnamed player as a source, but this sort of quote is pretty tough to overlook:

"McAdoo has lost this team. He's going 80 percent on Saturdays (in practice) before we get on a plane, it's wild," the unnamed player said. "Changed our off day. He's dishing out fines like crazy. Suspended two of our stars when we need them most. Throws us under the bus all the time. He's ran us into the ground and people wonder why we've been getting got."

Oh give it a rest. Mara is a spineless coward. He's using McAdoo as a scapegoat trying to say he wished he was in NY and not the owners meetings to be involved in the Eli situation. This is why Jerry is loved by past players and coaches. Because he doesnt do Cowardly bull like this.

Weak.....If I was a player I'd love someone who overpaid me way past my prime to. The Patriots's owner is loved by the team's fans, I wonder why?

Isn’t he the same coach that went 11-5 last year and swept the Cowboys?

Was he an organizational disaster then?

If so, how did Garrett and the Cowboys get swept by a coach doing bad work as you say?

Why didn't Jerry Reese just look into a mirror and take responsibility, remember tough times in the past and just go on?

All this seems unnecessary.

Man you are on it today. I literally laughed out loud, but you're wrong he will do all those things, just at home and without a paycheck.

It's impressive how the Giants spit the bit with their new regime, spent ~$100MM or whatever it was on defense in FA, imploded in embarrassing fashion, have to start over from scratch, and are now being held up as a paragon of bold management.

I just don't understand how some of you process information and arrive at decisions.

Exactly
Why don't the Giants want to keep getting embarrassed by the same GM and HC year after year?

What is up with holding the under performing people accountable and firing them?

Crazy

Even Garret's 2015 squad without Romo wasn't this bad. McAdoo doesn't have any excuse.
Uh yes it was, the 2015 team only won 1 game without Romo. The 2017 Giants are already ahead of that pace.

He didn't get fired last offseason, so I would imagine he was not the outright disaster then that he turned out to be by year two. Regardless, he was just canned for being an organizational disaster. That's not exactly a feather in his cap, no matter how 2016 went.

And the Cowboys were 13-3 last season, so forgive me if I don't worry too much about getting swept by the Giants who are now in total disarray.

Going to a team that doesn't have a QB again. Why would he ever

They have a QB. He just doesn't arrive until April.

They won't be idiots like the Cowboys and assume Eli's playing for 5 more years so they don't "need" that blue chip QB prospect at the top of the draft.

Fresh GM, head coach and franchise QB prospect. I envy the Giants.

The Giants might be tougher to beat next sunday after this. The team, organization and former alumni are going to close ranks around Manning. Could be an emotional game...at least in the first half.

Our GM/owner still wants to prove to everyone that he's a "football" guy, so what does that mean? Take Jason Garrett for instance, Jerry didn't just hire a coach he hired someone who's success is attached to his reputation. For Jerry it's not about drafting the players that everyone else would've drafted it's about outsmarting everyone and drafting that sleeper that turns out to be a probowler. That's why, as a GM, he keeps under performing player around to give them all the time to prove him right. The same thing goes for Garrett, that why he has a long leash, remember he hired him before he hired Wade. When you're not trying to prove anything and just trying to win championships, you fire under performing coaches and gms. It's just that simple, at least it is in most places.

I generally reject that 'Jerry's ego' narrative out of hand. He's too good a businessman to let his $5BB product be run by a guy he doesn't believe in just because he wants to prove something. Plus, it doesn't make sense. If he didn't think he had the right guy, it's in his ego's interest to bring in the right guy so that he can prove he's capable of building a perennial powerhouse. That's much more of an ego boost than being right on Jason Garrett would ever be. Not to mention that multiple other teams were also impressed by and willing to make Garrett their HC, anyway.

The idea that we reached precipitously with Garrett just isn't accurate. Had we not hired him for the HC gig when we did, more than one other team was interested in doing so. Our fans just want to say that he wasn't ready because Jerry made the comment about having invested in his training because Jerry is an emasculating idiot sometimes.
