Gibbs steps down *Merge*

Get ready for another Jason Garrett rumor.

Doutful. They have two highly paid assistants on the staff who have been biding their time for such an opportunity. Greg Williams?

I can relate. Parcells did not meet my expectations either. With some coaches I don't have them. With coaches like Gibbs and Parcells I think it is impossible not to.

Agree, but the temporary high and excitement brought on by the hire is a really fun experience. The Skins fans were delirious that morning and who could blame them? It was like going back in time.

Can you imagine what this board would be like if Jerry re-hired Jimmy?
It might not work out, but the excitement on this board would be off the charts.

I would probably be in the minority. I don't think Jimmy did that great of a job in Miami with the salary cap and don't think he can relate to today's players they way he did back then. He had separate rules for different players and I don't think that would fly today.

NOoooooo!

Geez, I wake up, wipe the sand outta my eyes and this bad news? :D Well I suppose I can pray for a Gibbs 3.0 in two years.

Jimmy did a terrible job in Miami. He was a worst GM than Jerry during the time, trying to find another emmitt smith, thus going through too many RBs. And that final loss? Worst than the botched field goal that ended the Parcells era here.

Guys-

All this speculation is fun but the reality is the next head coach is likely going to be Gregg Williams. For better or worse :)

I agree. The last thing JC needs is a new batch of coaches with different systems. He's been in this one for two years and still doesn't know what he's doing. I doubt they change it on him again.

Gibbs' looked at next year's salary cap situation and thought "I'm outta here".

:D I don't see why Gibbs is retiring, I mean he won a couple of Skin Super Bowls against Dallas. I thought beating dallas once a year was all that mattered.

True. It could be Patrick Ramsey all over again.

He did try to go for a quick fix and reached for RB's. But I'd take Jason Taylor, Zach Thomas, Darryl Gardner, Sam Madison, Patrick Surtain, etc.

I'd take Jimmy's drafts over JJ/Lacewell's any day.

Honestly, I used to buy into this salary cap crisis stuff myself but this has been Chicken Littled since 2000. This had nothing to do with Joe leaving and we will somehow be under the cap again, somehow (don't ask me how).

You know how the skins fans been reading signs into everything about the number 21? I just hope they won't say Joe Gibbs initials are JG and Jason Garrett's initials are JG! Must be a sign from God!

WILLIAMS HAS NO GUARANTEE by Michael David Smith

A league source tells PFT that contrary to popular belief, there is no guarantee in the contract of Commanders assistant head coach-defense Gregg Williams that he will either be Joe Gibbs' successor or receive a bonus payment from owner Dan Snyder.

Multiple media reports have indicated that Williams had been promised either the head-coaching job when Gibbs left, or, at minimum, that Snyder would pay Williams a million-dollar bonus if he were not offered the job upon Gibbs' departure.

But in reality, there is no such deal in place. Although Williams' contract pays him a higher salary to run the defense than some NFL head coaches make, Williams won't necessarily get a big check from Snyder if he isn't named the Commanders' next head coach.

Exactly!! After winning the Superbowl in week sixteen it was time to go out on top. :lmao: :lmao2:

The new Commander fan mantra: Joe Gibbs last win as a Commander was a mega-butt whooping of the cowboys! What a legacy. :laugh2:

Dunno, some of us just think y'all been mortgaging off your future. I mean you'll have to pay eventually.

They will never have to pay as long as their dumb players keep signing dumb back logged contracts and Snyder keeps showing absolutely no loyalty.
