Gibbs steps down *Merge*

Dunno, some of us just think y'all been mortgaging off your future. I mean you'll have to pay eventually.

You would think that is how it would work but like I said, this has been going on for years. 2006 was supposed to be the year we had to pay the piper. The salary cap is something that very few of us truly understand IMO. While our front office has often infuriated me with some of their moves, they are apparently masters at manipulating the cap every year.

So you're saying the new CBA did nothing to save your team's ***?

Seriously?

Honestly, I used to buy into this salary cap crisis stuff myself but this has been Chicken Littled since 2000. This had nothing to do with Joe leaving and we will somehow be under the cap again, somehow (don't ask me how).

It's easy. They sign FA's and in 2-3 years they dump them and sign more. Like I heard they'll save $6.5 million if they dump Brunell and another $8 million by not bringing back Springs. Not to mention the way the cap keeps going up.

It's not a big problem if you don't mind a contantly revolving roster where you only have a vry small handful of core guys and the rest of just moving parts, not to mention a major lack of depth.

So Skins fans will go from Sean taylor is a saint and the best safety in all football history, to Joe Gibbs is a saint and the best coach in NFL history.

Sorry guys Taylor was an above average safety with a lot of potential and Joe Gibbs was a good coach who should have stayed in nascar in the first place. His second go around was anything but historic.

Come on, I don't like Snyder either, but give him a little credit. Don't you think Snyder anticipated the new CBA with it's larger cap?

There was no way the owners were going into that year without a new CBA.

Well, I am glad you guys know the ins and outs of the salary cap and have cleared that up for me.

Couple things, certainly the new CBA helped out the Commanders, however there is no way that the league was going to let the Cowboys, Commanders, Patriots, and Texans have uncapped free for alls.

Bach, actually the Commanders do have pretty good depth, as much as most teams in the NFL, so that statement is uninformed. However they do rotate certain players in and out however considering that Brunell has been on the roster for 4 years, Portis 4 years, Springs 4 years, etc. I would say the 2-3 year rotation is only really at certain positions OL depth, WR depth, DB depth, etc.

Personally, I had a feeling after the Bills game that Gibbs was going to retire, he looked and sounded if he was becoming a shell of his former self. The fire in his eyes, and the pep in his personality were gone.

Williams would be an ideal replacement simply from a continuity standpoint, however at this point who knows. I do know that I would prefer them not to go after some of the early speculated coaches like Cowher and Carroll.

What do you want to know regarding the cap ?

Nope, no credit given. This is Danny Boy Snyder. I refuse to give him anything other than the usual..:skins:, :suxskins: and an occasional :dissskin:

I understand the basics of the cap but the entire process is way over my head, that is my point. I will leave it to capologists out there.

:D Just as long as you guys keep your hands off of Garrett, or else I'd hate the Skins for the first time in my life. :D

:D What if Snyder decides to be the new GM of the Skins?

they dont need a gm, they already have the worst personnel man in the league in vinny cerrato.

lets all hope it stays this way.

No charge.

So, a friend here at work who is a Skins fan brought up a possible candidate to replace him that I think has some merit.

Russ Grimm.

The Careers of Parcells and Gibbs at the end are so similiar, both Coached 4 years, both made the playoffs twice, both bought their Franchises back to a decent level and both at the end looked burned out from the grind.

It's a sad day for Giants/Cowboys/Eagles fans everywhere. You will be missed Coach Gibbs.
