To a long life well lived, Gil was a legend and the Cowboys fandom is lessened with his passing.

R.I.P. to a true legend. Thanks Gil for helping to make the Cowboys what they are today. You will be missed.

RIP to the Godfather.

Although Jerry fired him before I was born, I do appreciate his contributions to the franchise, to the NFL, and scouting as we know it. You can't tell the story of the NFL without mentioning Gil. I enjoyed his segments on Sirius NFL Radio for as long as I can remember.

Huge loss for the sport.

Last of the guys who built it from the ground-up - wow just memories now. Still an authority on prospects in his 80s - the man just loved his craft! ... Gil might like to be remembered with some "winning" Cowboys footage here from 1972 - Gil on the sidelines from 1:33-1:50 footage below ... Thanks Gil for all you did!

We've lost the last of our forefathers who made this franchise great.
Yes, our original HOF Triplets( Tex, Tom & Gil) who established and built the most Iconic and well respected ran model franchise in NFL of their era.
RIP

This one is tough. I met him at the Hall of Fame in 21 and he signed a helmet for me. I thanked him for an amazing childhood and several Super Bowl wins and hall of famers. He got he biggest smile on his face. I hope I made his day. That man was class and a legend all rolled into one. The architect of the Dallas Cowboys!

Did not see or hear the news before I focused onto this thread. Gil Brandt will always be an integral part of this franchise's history and legend. It is stupid to ever think it but I sorta thought he would outlive us all, like he was an immortal. His legacy will live on forever for those who knew him.

Rest in peace, Mr. Brandt.

I loved listening to the godfather, what a man and a true cowboy, hope jerry keeps that roof open so he can watch the season coming up. As I’m sure they will do something to honor him
