Gil is in trouble

I see nothing wrong with his comments, outside of the timing of them. He’s fundamentally correct — Haskins did make a lot of questionable life decisions. Society is just too soft and defensive
Yep, I wouldn't have said anything, but it wasn't really trashing him, it was just the timing. But some act like it's their family member.

True. But Mr. Gil Brandt was invited on a podcast and asked for his opinion.

Is the timing bad? Yes.

Was what he said true or false? Very likely true.

If Dwayne Haskins got killed for being run over because he decided to jog on a highway, well, he did invite death. That's on him. His own actions caused his own death.

Here is some more truth. You’re being an insensitive prick after somebody was killed in an accident.

Neither Gil or you was there and don’t even know what happened. It’s not the time to spout off.

It’s hilarious that you think that Gil or yourself is in a position to state “the truth” when neither probably knows a damn thing about what actually happened.

That's the bad thing (well, one of the bad things) about social media. You put something out there and you can't really take it back. It was the right move to apologize, and everyone should accept it and move on. He can't take back what he said, but at least he realizes it was wrong.
Takes a big man to admit that you were wrong.
Nice move, Gil.

I don't see what all the fuss is about, he clearly stated that it was strategy but described Haskins immaturity and the issues he had off the field....so the notion because some talk show host asked him a question, he shouldn't answer it..

But the only reason he is apologizing is because there is a virtual mob forming with virtual torches, rope and a horse...he probably didn't even type that apology himself, some PR professional was the likely author.
Trying to give him the benefit of the doubt.

He stated opinions, and he's apparently a mind reader, and made assumptions about what happened that are now known to be false.

There's a right way to answer such questions when someone dies tragically. Apparently, neither Gil nor you understand that.

He stated what he knew about the player from background on the player in college from talking to people who coached him and other scouts, who have infinite more knowledge about a player than you or I do....He stated right off it was tragic when a young man dies, or did you miss that part because you only hear what you want to hear.
