I don't think one person in this thread has ever said that.

I'm just messing with y'all don't take it so seriously. Everyone knows West is wide open technically any of the 8 teams can make it. I'll exit this thread now.

Well I will say it here and now....cause I am a homer and I have bled Silver and Black since I was a fetus......As long as the Spurs have Pop, Duncan, Parker, and Manu, they will be contenders to win it all. I will also say that if they can stay healthy, they will be a top 3 seed going into the playoffs, if not the top seed. The division is theirs to lose.

GO SPURS GO

BTW, it is tough but I will pick OKC to squeak out the division over Denver or Portland. I see the Lakers winning their division, but the Clippers will make it interesting.

Spurs win a good game vs Denver, but then turn around and lose to OKC....well lose is putting it nicely, they got ran out of the building in the 3rd quarter.

That game is the perfect example as to why my expectations are tempered. They whooped us. And yes we were on a back to back, but they were on a back to back to back! We were never a threat to win this game. Even when we crept close, the would fire off ten point runs. That's the best team in the West, IMO.

Still, I like where the Spurs are going. We need to figure out how to win on the road though. 0-3 is not inspiring.

I felt our ball security was horrible....and they seemed to try to force things that weren't there, which led to turnovers.

OKC is definitely playing like the top team in the West right now.

Talk about an overreaction. Right now there is no clear cut best team in the West. There's several teams in the mix. The two Texas teams, the two L.A. teams, OKC, Portland, Memphis (If Zbo gets back healthy) and Denver. Basically any team who makes the playoffs has a chance.

Again I think y'all are putting too much in the regular season. You look at the two Finals team's last season neither looked great in the regular season. The regular season is pretty meaningless especially in a shortened season.

The mistake the Spurs made was turning it over. Don't turn it over force OKC to play half court ball and they'll struggle.

Of course there's several teams in the mix. Including the Spurs. And OKC is the best out of all of them RIGHT NOW. It's not an overreaction....it's a fact. Nobody's crowning anybody in January. Calm down.

Man, you are super annoying. Go bother the Mavs fans or something.

OKC is a good basketball team. And apparently deep too. Don't feel bad.

Didn't see the game tonight, but I heard TJ Ford got hurt, and we committed a season high in turnovers. That's a bad loss anyway you slice it. And 0-4 on the road now?

Yikes.

ya, we were winning most of the game, i hope TJ isnt out long, he has been very good so far this year. as long as we win about 60% of our games without manu, we should be ok to make a push for seeding when he gets back.

Spurs need a legit big man ASAP. Give us Parker and either Splitter or Blair and we'll give you Gasol and Blake.

When Manu gets back:

Blake
Ginobli
Jefferson
Gasol
Duncan

They've got a better chance at winning the West with that lineup IMO.

Jackson was struggling all season, and last night he decided to return to his Assassin form. Leuer did his best Fred Roberts impression. Delfino, who has been a waste of time and space his entire career, went Manu Ginobili on us. Bogut, who was supposed to be a pile of rust, cause he hasn't been playing in a long time, dominated. And finally, Jennings was simply Jennings.

Spurs lose by 3, miss like 10 FTs, turn the ball over a lot, leave the Milwaukee shooters wide open, mostly in the 1st half...

Still when we got the ball at the end, a timeout would have been nice. Instead we run it down and Jefferson is left to take a very difficult shot, as he was the only 3pt threat on the floor. If we call a TO, we can get Neal, Anderson, and Bonner on the floor.

Oh and Ford did leave with an injury in the 2nd quarter. We were starting to take ownership of the game, and then he pulled up lame with a strained hammy. Immediately after, the Bucks scored 5 straight and the Spurs seemed to lose their mojo for the rest of the half.

We dont need a big in a vital way, even though we will be signing Malcolm Thomas today. We need a PG.....the only healthy ball handler we have on the roster is Parker now. Manu and Ford are both hurt. Neal is ok, but still not a long term answer.

Last night's game was like A Tale of Two Cities.....it was the best of times, it was the worst of times.....

The first half was awesome for Spurs fans the world over....what a great 24 minutes of basketball, capped off by the half court shot by Danny Green. 63-49....

Unfortunately, in the NBA, a game lasts 48 minutes. Miami absolutely prison raped the Spurs in the second half. They outscored the Spurs 71-34, with Lebron outscoring the Spurs 17-12 in the 3rd Q alone. The Heat went 12-15 in the second half from beyond the arc...they simply could not and would not miss......of course it helps that the Spurs employed the Anti-Defense Defense last night. After the 3rd open 3 of the second half, I was pleading and hoping for someone to cover a Heat shooter. Unfortunately, my pleases went unanswered.

Also, Parker needs to do a better job of getting his teammates not named Duncan involved in the offense. He needs to stop forcing the issue and taking bad shots and turning it over in droves. His play in the 3rd Q helped to magnify the negative situation.....because the Parker led offense was so inept, it made the offensive explosion by the Heat even worse. BTW, I hate Mike Miller, wish he was a Spur, but I hate him. He has been a Spur killer since Memphis.....Why can this guy never miss against us, sheesh.

The Spurs should have won the Milwaukee game....They were in it at the half against OKC, but then got blown out in the 3rd Q. They had a double digit lead against the Heat at the half, but completely imploded.....

At home, the Spurs are a juggernaut. On the road they are simply a NOT.....They need to figure out how to play an entire 48 minutes on the road, or else they will wind up being a middle of the pack team.

Luckily, Manu will be back in February and Ford hopefully by March.

Tonight it doesn't get much easier. Orlando is one tough cookie.....Howard beasts the Spurs.

Would like to think the Spurs for beating Orlando. Maybe losing to a Manu less Spurs team will finally convince Otis that this team is simply not good enough and to trade Dwight already.

What do you think it would take for the Lakers to get Dwight in a lakers uniform?

Bynum + fillers. Magic have no leverage at this point to ask for Gasol/Bynum because of the injury to Lopez which basically kills the Nets chances of getting him via trade. Bynum isn't Dwight, but he's the closest to him in the league today. Orlando would be fools not to take him.

If Dallas didn't have a team I would go for the Rockets. San Antonio not so much. But any time a Texas team is in contention, I hope they do good.

i dont think the magic will trade dwight for just bynum and fillers, but i also dont think the lakers would give up bynum AND gasol. if the lakers get him, it will prob have to be a three way deal unless one of the two GMs gets drunk and does something stupid.

as for the spurs, im really glad we got our first road W tonight. After lasts nights complete choke job it was nice to see the team recover from that and beat a good team on the road. more than i can say for the cowboys! (cards to giants game)

it would be cool to still have a perfect home record going into the rodeo road trip, winning at home will help with the growing pains of having such a young team (ya i said it! look it up!) besides Duncan/ginobili/parker and jefferson.

If I am not mistaken, the Lakers have 2 first round picks this year, one of them being Dallas'. Unfortunately, both picks will be in the 2nd half of the first round where all the scrubs are. Even if a 3rd team gets involved, I see the Lakers sending Bynum and those two firsts.....maybe even Josh McRoberts.

well, its that time of year again. this year the rodeo road trip will be tough, usually its a great time for the team to make toughen up and make a run, but i dont see that happening this year. Manu will be out the entire trip most likely, timmy will probably get some nights off or be rested for huge chunks of games, and i doubt TP will be logging lots of minutes also. Another thing is that its a lot earlier in the season that normal because of the lockout. here is the schedule, its pretty tough!

Mon, Feb 6 @Memphis
Wed, Feb 8 @Philadelphia
Sat, Feb 11 @New Jersey
Tue, Feb 14 @Detroit
Wed, Feb 15 @Toronto
Sat, Feb 18 @Los Angeles Clippers
Mon, Feb 20 @Utah
Tue, Feb 21 @Portland
Thu, Feb 23 @Denver

so thats a pretty rough stretch of 9 games! i would be ecstatic if we came out of that stretch over .500, but if we can go 4-5 in that stretch ill be happy. Hopefully everyone stays healthy and Ginobili will return pretty soon after that trip.
