Golic: "The Falcons are better team and they will go down to Dallas and prove it"

I am not upset with Golic here because at least he shows he can go the other way and applaud the Boys when he thinks they are going well.

We aren't playing great football right now and he judges us pretty harshly but he has shown if the team performs he will change his tune not stick to bashing them.

All that said I'm not so sure we have played as bad as it seems.
The Giants and Denver are now a combined 11-1.
KC plays people tough every week.
TB has fallen off the face of the cliff but we did dominate them in the second half to win easily.
Carolina isn't very good but the Boys performance against them has been about what most good teams has done. They lost to DAL by 14, ATL by 8 and Philly by 28 in a game where the Philly offense didn't need to do much and didn't.

ATL is coming here and that is a fairly even match up. Dallas needs to win this one to prove where they belong in the pack.

Guys guys, if Wade Phillips wakes up and assigns Carpenter to Gonzalez man on man all game, he will be SHUTOUT.

Nail him down Carpenter, nail him down.

IMO, this is a very evenly matched game. I give the Cowboys the edge with the home field advantage and coming off the bye though. The Cowboys need to press the coverage as Ryan doesn't hold onto the ball long and likes to run quick routes to his receivers. Gonzolez moves around a lot looking for a mismatch. If we can keep Ryan under pressure and play solid man on man, our D has a good chance of keeping their scoring chances to a minimum.

Solid analysis. We definitely have to disrupt Ryan's timing back there.

I agree but I think the main key with Alt starts with the running game and Turner. Most of the passing comes off play action I think Dallas needs to slow down the Alt running game and put Ryan into sure passing downs. When looking at Alt games when Turner is getting it done the Alt offense is very effective but when you stop Turner the Alt offense falters.

No pun just the fact the Alt game relies heavy on Turner. Because of Turner, Ryan is able to stay in 2nd and 3rd manageable downs. Turner is a very tough guy to bring down in games I have seen it take 2 to 3 guys coming in to bring him down he will not go down easy he will fight for every yard. In doing this Ryan sees many 2nd and 5 and 3rd and 2 situation which are easier to deal and makes the play action allot more effective. You stop Turner and the Falcons offense is not as dangerous

Yes, they are

Atlanta has been a MUCH, MUCH better team than us so far this year. They beat a good Chicago team and destroyed a good SF team on the road. Matt Ryan is playing a lot better than Romo, they are playing more disciplined and committing fewer penalties and have a much better TO margin, etc.

I'm honestly shocked that we are favored by 4, because nothing so far has given any indication that Dallas will beat Atlanta on sunday.

I think a "cleaned up" Cowboys team beats the snot out of Atlanta. And if we are not "cleaned up" I still think we have a shot to win.

Let's hope they "cleaned up" some things in the bye week and start playing to potential.

I'm on record. 28-20 Cowboys. It's definitely not an elite unit, but the Cowboys D is much, much closer to being where it needs to be than most people on this board think, and Atlanta will find that out on Sunday afternoon.

This team hasn't been "cleaned up" in over a year. I doubt they start this weekend.

I think that's the right mentality that will win us a 6th championship: Hey we lost against great teams.

There were times we wanted to be the best team. And that means you have to beat the best there are. With our Coaches we slowly establish the mentality that losing against the best is something we can live with.

Sometimes it seems that some fans (like you ?) think losing against good teams is something to showcase with.

Then again those fans are going nuts when our team doesn't play with heart. Fans get mad because their beloved player gets criticised because he didn't play a good game.

Winning is a habit and it starts with setting goals and self criticism not with backslapping sonnyboy.

No back slapping here. Just offering the other side and some balance. The Cowboys are not what I believed they'd be. I'm not satisfied nor am I convinced we will turn it around.

I just get annoyed at overly negative imbalanced arguments. OK the Cowboys haven't beaten a quality team, but they haven't lost to a poor one either.
We can sit here all night and belabor the negative and what this team isn't. And that's ok because they may be a long way from SB caliber.

But perhaps they aren't.

Perhaps they are only a few plays away from 5-0. They're certainly closer to 5-0 than 0-5. Closer to 4-1 than 1-4.

It's my opinion that many fans on this site mistake a positive outlook as complacency.
Just because I come on this site often offering the glass half full point of view doesn't mean I don't want my glass filled to the rim.

This must play better to compete for a championship. No one can argue this point.

I disagree this team sucks no point in trying to sugar coat it.

Why torture yourself? If it's so bad being a Cowboys fan, then why put yourself through it? What's in it for you?

All true, but I think many on here are forgetting something. Atlanta is going to have a very difficult time shutting down OUR running game. Of course, that's assuming Barber and Felix are fairly healthy.

Do you even know who the TE for the Bears is? What a joke of a post this is.

Yep, Greg Olsen. Former Miami University TE. Solid TE with some athletic ability, nothing great.

Also, how is AMERICA'S post a joke? More than half of your posts are all about ridiculing your fellow Cowboy's fan. Now that is a joke.

Dude, you are comparing a 1st string to a 2nd string. Check the Bears depth chart:

http://www.chicagobears.com/team/depthchart.asp

Click on TE - Olsen is listed as FIRST STRING. Of course you expect him to have more catches. Not saying Olsen isn't GOOD, but come on, the upside and athleticism that Marty B brings is certainly better than Olsen.

To actually compare someone to Marty B, compare him with there 2nd string, Desmond Clark:

Desmond Clark 6 catches 63 yards 10.5 avg 24 long 0

Marty is pretty comparable.

Congratulations you found dictionary.com.

It's not grammar smack. You don't use the word like you know what it means.... I've noticed the last 3 times you've used it, you have used it wrong. That's a problem with your understanding of vocabulary. There are plenty of indications that Dallas can beat Atlanta on Sunday. You either don't want to see them, or you don't know what the word means.
