Hard to move on from this "crap" when black men are still dealing with crap on a daily basis.I'd say both sides have made their point, now let's move on from this crap and play football.

This response is always hilarious to me. There's crooked cops with a badge and a gun who take an oath to protect their community yet harass and sometimes murder the people in it, but there's people like you with the "But what about black on black crime?" cop out.I agree "Hands up don't shoot" was a complete lie. Even the Obama justice department cleared that shooting (and all the other high profile shootings).
The "injustice" is inner city violence and black on black crime that has been IGNORED by the media and most politicians.

So if money and fame means you should shut up, then shouldn't Trump ****?
FYI, Pat Tillman would have been the first to take a knee.
Can I ask you a serious question? What do you do to help or even understand the plight of Black Americans or any minority for that matter? I ask because people are so quick to point out the "distraction" that this is causing and want people to do something, not talk about something. Do you believe their is even an issue at all?The protests are stupid, nonsensical and far more about attention than any plight facing black Americans.
But you know what I'm beginning to think is even worse? The grown men melting into giant puddles over what other grown men do during the national anthem. It's a sad, embarrassing display not fit for anyone outside the seven year old and younger crowd.
People need to sack up and find more important things to worry about.
I am not the one to bring him up for one and secondly, I was repeating what his wife, friends, and family said and that is showing respect. Unlike those misrepresenting what he believed in.Don't speak for a dead man. It's one of my biggest pet peeves, you have no clue what he would have done - it's been over a decade since his death. Show some respect.

What happened to Eric Garner is murder. What happened to Freddie Gray is murder. You can live in this fantasy world where all cops can be trusted but you obviously don't live in the same world as others nor do you have to deal with what they deal with on a daily basis. Is that 1st degree murder these cops are committing?
There's literally 5 times as many whites as blacks in this country so that's a silly statistic.Black athletes complaining about police brutality and injustice.. yet more whites are shot by cops each year than black people!
The cop out is you thinking because someone commits a crime a cop is allowed to hand out justice a he sees fit. You're picking and choosing your scenarios. Countless of black men have been severly beaten and killed by cops and they weren't reaching for a gun. This has literally been going on for decades. The cop out is ignoring the gang violence problem in inner cities. The media ignores the 30 shootings in Chicago over a weekend but spends weeks discussing how a known drug dealer lead police on a high speed chase and then reached for a gun only to be shot by an officer and how the officer acted improperly... get a grip on reality man.
I'm not here to say all police officers are saints. There are bad people that wear a badge and there are good people that make poor decisions or reactions.
Again, you have NO CLUE what his stance would be on today's political issues. You have no idea how he would have changed or who he would have become.
Again, stop speaking for a dead man. I don't care WHO started it - you are not him, he's not around to make you shut your trap. it's the same crap when I see people using Hitchens to push their goals.
They are not alive, do not speak for them. Leave them out of it.
One more time, HIS WIFE, HIS FRIENDS, AND HIS FAMILY SAID IT.
Funny how only those who disagree with the truth about the man take exception.
The protests are stupid because the cause they are protesting is largely a lie. Statistically, there isn't an epidemic of black men being killed by police. Moreover, among criminals blacks are LESS likely to be killed than whites.
It's all based on a false narrative
...it doesn't matter WHO said it. HE didn't say it, he is not alive, he is not here to tell you how current events shaped his opinion. What a guy thought 14 freakin' years ago in a different political climate is irrelevant.
They are not him, he is in the ground, may he rest in peace. He is not here to speak on what he would do - point to those who are alive, not a man who can't defend himself. And NO I DO NOT CARE his loved ones speak for him. That is still not him. Leave him out of it, and that's what you should have said with whoever brought him up.
BOTH SIDES, stop using a dead man to further your agenda. It's tactless and, frankly, pathetic.
I understand what you're feeling, but the reality is football is a predominantly black sport and for these athletes this is the best way they feel they can bring attention to what's going on in their community. Right or wrong.Football is one place where skin color doesn't matter and ability and skills do. Is it really hard to separate issues of race inequality from sports? We've all got full lives outside of our enjoyment of watching this game. Does the fact that genuine unfairness on issues of race still exists in the US mean it has to permeate every discussion in every walk of life? I don't think so. It ought to be ok to both feel strongly about something and to not talk about it in the context of sports, or entertainment, or exercise, or whatever.
And that goes for any number of important issues that I care deeply about outside of football that I also don't want bleeing into the NFL.
So I guess that means every quote from history is off limits? No ideals of Lincoln, MLK, or our founding fathers...after all they are all dead.
Get a life and stay out of mine.
Every group kills their own more than others so what is your point? Just wanted to get that out eh like it meant something. It also hasn't been ignored or people like you wouldn't know about it.
Sure, every group kills their own more than others.
But the fact of the matter is 6% of the population (black males) are responsible for 40-50% of violent crimes.
It's hard to ignore when every major inner city has been turned into a war zone. Come take a walk through the Wards here in New Orleans and tell me again how inner city violence doesn't cripple black communities.
If you claim to seek social justice and choose to ignore how crime has devestated black America and don't see that as something that needs fixing, then what is there to talk about?
