Nfl is dying. Multiple reasons. Kids also losing interest in playing. 10 years from now will be a vastly different pinache
It's not dying but it is changing and the incredible growth that it enjoyed for so many successive years is not happening now and much of that was due to the growth of fantasy ball. They went from ignoring that to a full court press embracing it because of the increase in viewers.
The NFL went from promoting the violence and collision aspect of the game to the pretty catches and flips into the end zone. When ESPN was forced to stop "Jacked Up", they saw an immediate decline in ratings on the pregame show that featured that popular segment. I loved it, was my favorite part of the MNF pregame. Could have been called The Roy Williams Show.
This is not new. When ABC moved MNF to ESPN, they did that for one reason. They were losing 18-34 males to Turner's wrestling on Monday nights. They even tried bringing in a comedian as the 3rd guy in hopes of bringing them back to no avail. Too many preferred the fake action to the real action of the NFL and this was well before the CTE issue.
At one time, baseball was America's favorite pastime and that got replaced by the NBA with Johnson/Bird an then Jordan and the NFL. The NBA has withdrawn with even the possible GOAT playing and the NFL is losing audience and many parents are refusing to let their sons play organized football.
The NFL will not die, it will always have it's followers, just like baseball still does. The NFL enjoyed many years of phenomenal growth but that is shifting on them and they have to adapt. That said, they're going to get the richest TV/Streaming contract in history coming up because while it might not still be the 500lb gorilla, it's still the King Kong of live TV.
