LOL probably break it up into commercial (AT&T keep for Sport bars) and residential ( bringing Apple, Google, Facebook, etc for huge separate $$$$$$)

Roger Goodell, NFL strongly contemplating ending DirectTV’s Sunday Ticket

On Friday, Commisioner Roger Goodell says he is looking into a streaming version of NFL Sunday Ticket and it sounds like the NFL might take advantage of an early opt-out of their contract with DIRECTV for NFL Sunday Ticket that runs through 2022, which would be just before the 2020 season, Darrelle Lincoln of Total Pro Sports reports.

The NFL is considering splitting up the rights to make games more widely available now that people don’t only watch at home.
I applied to a local community college so that I could get Sunday Ticket for $99/yr. I already have my MS but a $30 application fee and an hour at the college filling in paperwork, I will be able to stream it for super-cheap.

I had NFL ST from 1997 until 2012, even when I lived in DFW area. I stopped it in 2013, didn't want to, but they were so rude and insulting, I cancelled everything. All I wanted to do was go to ATT U-verse as I was out of state, so I could use NFL ST on my mobile devices, and family in my house could have a more reliable cable service. In 2015 u-verse was so screwed up I went back to DTV since ATT owned them now. And got it for free for 2 years. Then last 2 years they would not do a thing for me. Well they did finally give me $60 a month off my bill for a year. But now will just probably change to Spectrum. After this last time they insulted me when DTV was having issue, my boxes.
I'm like you (have ST since 1998, still have it); there are usually multiple threads on Fan Zone each Aug-Sept about ways to deal with DT operators, representatives, etc. Ive followed advice there and have had success by calling and going through the gauntlet of 3 or 4 of Direct TV sales types, and getting to a tactful, cooperative "retention specialist"-you have to hunt for one, after you tell them you cant afford ST any longer. This year I actually got reimbursed for the Ticket and about $200 other reductions, so I could remain "a loyal subscriber". the process takes about 45 minutes or so, but saves $ Totally agree, the AT&T direct tv is pretty sorry compared to the old direct tv, pre-2000 or so.

I just want a Dallas Cowboys (individual team) package. I don't need to see all of the games each week, but I do want to watch all 16 Cowboys' games every year, no matter where I live.

Agreed. i paid for the season ticket for years. Even in NJ I get all but a few games on national TV. Last year I chose not to get it and went to a sports bar for the Detroit, Atlanta, Indy and Tampa games. The other 12 were on regular TV. About the same $300 cost but came with beer and food. I have been saying for years. Just have the games ala cart for any DTV customers. $25 each. I think they end up making more in the end.

No question the Cowboys could have their own network package.....similar to Notre Dame
you mean similar to the LHN ie Longhorn Network.. :) dont bring an Eastern team into our TX debates when we have one already to copy..

lucky I dont care since I live in DFW and see every game..ive never used the NFL ticket even when it was free as there are already too many games on besides the Cowboys to get my fill..i guess for restaurants and bars who use this to provide all the games on any given day it might hurt..
RG is tool anyway..not sure how he was brought back..

Same. I live a few miles from the stadium and luckily watch the Cowboys on local channels. I can see how it sucks for fans who don't live in the DFW area.

You guys gotta learn to hustle the DT people. Never speak to the first person who attempts to help you. Always tell them you wish to speak to customer retention, customer retention has much more options at their disposal and will do anything to keep you as a customer. I got the Sunday ticket for half the price last year and they also threw in HBO in for 6 months free and the Starz package for 3 months free. Been doing it for 5 years now. Also dont ever renew the contract with them ot makes it easier to negotiate during football season.

I think with viewership being down this is how they can attract more viewers.

DTV and cable companies are not going to be around that much longer with streaming taking over. I had the NFL package for several years but never paid full price for it. For those who still want it, call them and threaten to cancel your DTV and they'll give you at least half off. I got it free a few times. If you don't get that offer, hang up and try it again with a different rep.

Awesome. The NFL's distribution strategy hasn't evolved with the times. They are learning the hard way what the internet does to distribution models that aren't consumer-centric. Free streams are exploding online and there's not much they can do about it.

Except... make their games more accessible and ideally à la carte. The fact that I can't pay $9.99 for a Cowboy game that's not on in my area is just insane. People will pay for quality and to forgo the hassle of finding a free stream. If you let them.

Actually now you can use chat to talk to them. Someone on these boards let me know that and used it. Worked well and got money off my account for a year. And you don’t have to talk to someone.

Am going through a bunch of crap with them now. I have had directv so long that when I got it I installed it myself. Back in the day you could by it in a box from Walmart. It came with 2 boxes and a dish and some cable. I installed it and pointed it and owned my own equipment. Years went by and went to high definition. They came out and put up new dish and a new high def box.

Used my old box in bedroom. Well the old box bit the dust so I broke out my other old box and called to have it turned on. All they want to do is send me a new box. Saying that they can’t activate it. Really? My other old box worked fine until it broke down. I get all my local channels. The access card from my other old box worked but they shut it off. So if they can’t activate my other old box then why can’t they let me put my old card in the other box and have them reactivate that access card. It was working. They just want to give me new equipment so they can charge me. I get all the local channels already but can’t get the other channels.

I hope they do. And they get more options for everyone.
Even though I get all the games. But if I ever decide to move back to Florida it would be nice to have options.

AT&T and DTV have really became bad and hard to do business with. Their customer reps are rude and will insult you.
I get all the games but this is a smart move
The nfl should just start their own streaming service
Carry all the games, nfl network and all
Have team channels for all press conference
But at the very least it should be spread around and give people more choices

Good! Nfl Sunday ticket sucks

I live 500+ miles from Dallas and they told me “Dallas is a regional broadcast so we can’t show it in your area”
you think direct tv makes those rules???

You can bet on whatever alternative Goodell comes up with will end up costing the fans more money.

Sadly...your probably right. They will just rename it someting else...and rebrand it. But you will end up getting the same crap @ twice the price.

I also want to see the NFL ending the exclusive license with EA Sports Madden. I’ve stopped playing Madden since EA nabbed the exclusive license.

NFL2K for life.....

Yeah, I got personally burned with that exclusive license. I was working on a competing NFL game at the time and our project got canceled because of that deal. I hate EA...

lol, that one's not happening anytime soon.

They make a lot of money from EA, whereas fewer people are using Sunday Ticket every year.
