I'm opposed to signing Hardy but what kind of $$$ are we talking about to secure his services? Is he really all that?

he was found guilty, he appealed and the woman(witness) disappeared, and there's information she was paid off to disappear..why the case was dropped.....he's a slug and should be in prison for what he did....amazing cowboy fans like you jump through hoops to give a player every break and blame the woman

He was found guilty from a bench trial. In NC that is the first step that sorts through a lot of cases. Once he appeals the verdict is immediately vacated, not when the charges were dropped. Every American citizen has the right to a jury trial and that is what Hardy asked for. The idea of a pay-off is the rumor but it is unsubstantiated. The alleged victim had also dated the rapper Nelly and was called a gold digger by people that knew her. She wasn't very reliable and that is why NC dropped the charges.

On the field? He's a hell of a player. And he's young, and reportedly a good teammate. He's probably not going to come at that much of a discount now, though. He'll end up in high demand and he'll be expensive.

Didn't she say on the stand that her only injury was a broken toe nail? Which witnesses claim saw her kick his car tire that night?

Yes, her words. From the pictures on her Facebook page she didn't appear to sprain her credit card charging hand.

Also amazing that a known gold digger who then went on a vacation and shopping spree gets your benefit of the doubt...

The first trial would essentially be a grand jury trial in most states. This is why the verdict gets vacated once you go to an actual jury trial, so it's not like he was appealing a guilty verdict.

I do know for a fact that he would immediately help our pass rush. I wanted him last year before CAR tagged him. Since Suh is out of price range, Hardy is the one guy I would spend big money on.

And Hardy fills the true biggest need. Our defensive tackles weren't world beaters, but they did their jobs just fine, especially in comparison to defensive ends who could never get there.

Hardy is the one proven producer who will hit the free agent market, and if you want the best, be prepared to pay.

I would be.

Thanks for the reply. So based on this information, can the Boys really afford Dez, Murray and Hardy and still fill the other holes on the team? Wouldn't signing Hardy make the return of Murray less likely?

He's the one guy that I would rework Romo and Tyron Smith's deals to get.

Kick the door in.

I think the only thing that could make the return of Murray less likely is Murray, and an exorbitant asking price.

Greg Hardy meet Calvin Hill.

Mr. Hill will in your jock for the next three years. Mr. Jones will insist on it.

I haven't seen anything reported that there was an actual civil settlement in this case, either, by the way.

If there were one, wouldn't a confidentiality agreement be part of it? So hearing nothing about it doesn't mean it didn't happen, of course.

If Murray comes back, it's going to be at the team's number, anyway, I think.

They have to do Dez, and the issue there is going to be the guaranteed money. I don't imagine it's going to handicap us against he cap this season. And I think they have to be looking hard at a premium DL in VFA this year. It's the biggest defensive weakness, and there's no realistic options for helping it enough for next season via the draft. The only other option is to go for small upgrades along the DL at several positions, which I think is also very much a possibility.

Of course. All I know is that a quid-pro-quo agreement to avoid jail time is reportedly illegal in NC. And people keep suggesting there was a civil settlement, and I haven't seen anything either way to indicate there was.

Frankly, I'd have paid her off in Hardy's situation, guilty or not. He's got too much riding on this offeason to have it hanging over his head. I just don't think we have much accurate information about what all really went down, one way or another here. Whole lotta grey area.

there was about as much evidence that he beat that chick as there was for the Dez video.

Yes, but for all the controversy, what she accused him of doing, for the judge to give him that original guilty verdict of a misdemeanor crime. Really odd system they have there in NC imo.
