Grier's great game and gets cut

Every QB misses passes. I don't think we should try to take away from the game Grier had to make the Lance trade look better. However, we do need to realize that it is one game. Like with Lance being taken in the first round, Grier showed some things that got him drafted in the third round. He has/had some potential and occasionally it shows, like in this game. But he's in his fifth year and you get to the point where you need to see more than potential. Lance is in his third year. He gets a little more time to see if he can progress before he suffers a similar fate as Grier.

Didn't he also miss parts of both years due to injury? He does have the skills to give a look. I think if Grier gets picked up...it will be to a PS.

I've got him going to ours. I just think most teams have No. 2s more consistently better than him and QBs they want to see if they can develop as No. 3s.

We tend to overvalue our players. For example, I thought it was a mistake to cut Ben DiNucci last year after he had a good preseason and felt that someone would claim him. Nobody did, including us. He had to go to the XFL to earn another shot at the NFL.

He earned a shot in the USFL...that is what tonight did. This doesn't move the needle going against defenders that 80% of them won't be in the league on Wednesday.

When a defense has to worry about the QB taking off and getting a first down, it changes everything. It is a huge problem, especially if the defense didn’t game plan for it. That will keep drives alive, wear out the defense and keep your defense fresh.

That makes a huge difference.

I hope they let Dak run a good bit more this year. That has been a big difference from rookie Dak, who ran a decent amount. He is a much better passer now… keeping drives alive with his legs will make the offense very difficult to stop, IMO.
