Or that to ---My understanding is it is much easier to buy a shotgun then become a Navy Seal.

Of 138 people only 19 made it through class 195.

Two stories ---we where doing building searches one night--pitch dark --we had made it about 30 foot into the building when someone racked a shotgun ---it scares whats in you out.

That's some good pucker factor right there.

#2 Part of the training we did at night involved running from target to target with someone yelling in our ear..The combination made it extremely difficult to shoot straight.

They always preached to us. Practice like you fight. Live fire exercises can prepare you for some of that.

Once again -buy a pump shotgun -if the sound of you racking a round in doesn't work ,you don't have to shoot very straight to get the job done

Yep. And less worry about penetrating through walls.

I think some people are getting the term "Burglary" and "Home Invasion" mixed up.

Quite a bit of Law Enforcement stats will tell you that Burglaries typically occur during the day and the primary motive of the criminal is to avoid a confrontation and relieve the victim of their valuables.

Quite a bit of Law Enforcement stats will tell you that most Home Invasions occur between 6 PM to 6 AM and the primary motive of the criminal is to ensure that the victim is home for the purpose of rape, murder, theft and to get the victim's ATM pin numbers, which was the case with the Doctor and his family up in Connecticut last year.

People who buy guns for Self Defense are doing so to protect themselves against "Home Invasions", not Burglaries.

Burglary is breaking into a home or business to steal something from the building. Once a person becomes involved it becomes a robbery if the property is taken (from someone) by (or with the threat of) force. A home invasion is a robbery

I agree shotgun is the way to go

Side note. Saw a program where they had a Navy Seal run and obstacle course and was expected to make a kill shot at the end he did it in like 22.5 sec with a head shot. Next they put him in a large tub filled with Ice Water he stayed in for 1 hour then got out of the tub ran the same obstacle course and another head shot at about same time.

A Home Invasion could be a robbery but not necessarily always a robbery.

Sometimes a person who commits the crime of Home Invasion is there for assault, terror or rape.

Also, a "robbery" infers that the crime has been committed and is over with.

That is why police advise victims of Home Invasions who are able to get to the phone to say, "Home Invasion" or "Burglary in Progress".

Call and tell them to bring an ambulance or a hearse

I'm not going to get into semantic and I think that Home Invasion is a serious subject that I don't want to joke around with.

I will say this, most people who buy guns for Home Defense buy it to protect themselves from Home Invasions, not burglaries, which typically occur when the victim is not home.

Of course it is serious however I have no problem joking around even with the most serious issues. Life is too short not to lighten up sometimes. Of course people buy guns for Home invasion because we are home in a burglary we are not home so does not matter if you have a gun or not.

True --In Texas a home invasion without someone at home becomes a burglary if something is taken. If you break in for the purpose of committing a crime -the offense is that crime be it rape, robbery what ever. You can classify it however you want to but legally once it fits the elements of that offense -that is how the case is filed.
A burglary becomes a robbery if someone is home and that person is confronted.
A theft of a package of gum becomes a robbery if the thief runs over alittle old lady on the way out of the store .

Police rarely expect you to classify the offense for them.
A robbery in process is not anymore past tense then a home invasion in process or a burglary in process

Get a revolver---go somewhere where you can run hard for about a block -pick up the gun and try to hit the target--

An untrained person will have the same trouble pointing a handgun and shooting an intruder

If you want something to save your life --buy a shotgun --

I actually understand what your trying to say and it makes sense.

Thanks -Under extreme stress a point and shoot weapon(shotgun) is far more likely to hit the target then a aim weapon(handgun)

The one exception is sometimes a woman or a child that has never handle a gun--they will simply Point (not aim) and shoot and hit right where they are pointing

Parents killed and toddler injured in home invasion

PIMA COUNTY - The search is on for a killer after a mother and father are murdered and their 3-year-old daughter injured in an overnight home invasion.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department said the suspect forced his way into a home in the 78-hundred block of West Spiney Lizard Place which is near San Joaquin and West Bopp Roads.

Deputies said Manuel and Cynthia Orozco had been shot to death. Their 3-year-old daughter was also shot, but survived with life threatening injuries. A 10 year old daughter was also in the home but not injured.

Residents in the area said the victims moved into to the home about 8 months ago and have never caused any problems, just a few family parties one of which was on Sunday night.

The neighbors didn't want to be identified but said "Since we already have a neighborhood watch existing it was pretty much a shock because we're not used to any sort of crimes that are notable like this."

Neighbors said it didn't take long for word to get out what happen and they said the most disturbing news was the toddler.

They said, "They're just so innocent. I mean how could you do any harm to a child. It's terrible. This is our future. These are people that are going to take care of us."

Neighbors said they are left with a whole lot of questions; questions they said have to be answered. They said, "We can't move on until we do find out. I can't move on. I'm gonna be thinking about it. Just this morning I've been playing it over and over in my head."

And they said just learning what happened isn't enough. They added, "We'd like to see an arrest soon. I'd like to see these people brought to justice right away."

At this point the Sheriff's Department has no suspects but said there was a light colored pickup truck seen leaving shortly after the murder. They also said the suspect was a male, possibly wearing a red long sleeve shirt with blue jeans.

If you know anything about this murder call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.

Man that sucks.

Would be interested to know how the perp forced his or herself into the house.

Like an old man told me at the Gun Range, he considers a Security System as a form of response but his gun is for an immediate response.

Actually, his thoughts are inaccurate as Dallas led the Nation in crime a couple of years ago and I believe it was a few years in a row.

As a whole Texas is much safer. But there are parts of Dallas I wouldn't visit in a tank.

If you do go with a security system do your research well, and be very wary of ADP. A friend of mine's business, after being broken into without the alarm going off, had the whole ADP system fine tuned by a company security specialist. A few weeks later, after hours, someone drove a truck through their window to do a smash and grab. The alarm did not go off. Again. They are no longer an ADP customer.

Also, ADP is a remnant of Tycho, and has their signature disregard for business ethics.

I look at it like this. If I have my gun with me, a child can't find it accidentally. If I have it with me, something like Va Tech isn't going to escalate. At the very least I am going to make a guy like that focus on me and not the defenseless. They are targets, not threats. He'll focus on the threat.

Luby's

Killeen Texas.

Those two in a google search and then take a look see at the public testimony that led to Texas having a concealed carry license law as another example of the Virginia Tech situation you've mentioned.

I think it was a daughter of the victim who told the politician when asked who she felt she needed to protect herself from, "People like you, who we elected and to protect you who won't protect yourselves" or something to that effect.

If one person in that Luby's had a firearm with them, the situation would have ended with far fewer deaths. IIRC, the guy kept shooting until he personally ran out of ammunition. 911 did no good then, no good during the riots in LA, and no good when society breaks down like it did in Louisiana after Katrina.

Maybe a tank, but not an LAV or Amtrack.

Reports have come out that stated that the supposed rioting and looting in New Orleans was drastically overblown.

Most of the people you hear about going to jail now are nurses and police officers who abandoned their post.

I don't know that adding more guns to an already chaotic situation is going to help.

And no way should students be allowed to bring guns on College Campuses.

Regardless of whether or not it was overblown - it still happened. When you're not prepared and some type of disaster strikes people do things out of the ordinary. When disaster strikes it also gives people who want to do bad things - an opportunity to.

There are real world lessons all around us. Haiti, Chile, etc.

I don't know that adding more guns to an already chaotic situation is going to help.

I'd rather have the means to defend myself from people who choose to become outlaws and brigands in times of chaos.

And no way should students be allowed to bring guns on College Campuses.

Why?
