Three things I'm pretty sure of:

1. Jerry Jones is not going to sell the team.
2. Jerry Jones is not going to hire a GM.
3. Jason Garrett will be the coach next year.

Understanding these three immutable truths, I can:

1. Change teams.
2. Remain a Cowboys fan yet become disinterested
3. Hope

Even though I understand the definition of insanity (doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results), I also recognize that though it's the faintest of possibilities and virtually impossible, lightning CAN strike twice.

So here's to hope - both in the draft in whom we pick and a new season and the possibility that we could discover some of that 92-93 magic. I'll prepare my lightning rod. ;)

Hey nothing wrong with Fantasy Football and being a casual Dallas fan. (al beit with no Cowboys on the Roster cause they suck)

But, change Teams.....is that really an option? If so who, if them why and if lighting strikes twice in 20 years is it really striking twice. The definition of insanity is the inability to differentiate between reality and non-reality. In life one thing stays the same, CHANGE.

Nothing can save this team from Jerruh, but he may step down as GM at that juncture Garrett may as well do the same.

Watching their offense function just brings to light how bland, uncreative, and plain crappy our offensive play design is. They're route combinations are designed to confuse defenders and make them second guess their coverage assignments, whereas ours are predicted on simply outrunning defenders in one on one coverage.

That's what happens when you have a real QB .. remember what happened to them last year when Palmer went down and they didn't have a proper backup? same story as we had here this year ...

The question was, why a team would push hard to get him. Nudge maybe, but not push hard, especially since he has a contract.

Because of the ownership dispute amongst family. It's supposedly known that the ownership has allowed him to pursue opportunities after the season.

No, it's not.. They already clinched a playoff birth and played top level defenses during that time...

We were struggling for a long stretch and sucked against scrubs, when the records mattered and we needed only two wins.

Nobody is talking about maintaining greatness when you lose your franchise QB.. That's a straw man argument..

And it was Arians second year.. He has his team playing top level football a second year in a row... Hell, his first year when they didn't make the playoffs, you can argue the same with him being 10-6. And in a division that had the 49ers and Seahawks as the top two teams in the NFC..

We've had our franchise QB with Garrett going on 4 years now as HC and 8 as OC..

Sean Payton is two years older than Jason Garrett, so the idea that he is some younger up and coming coach than Payton certainly isn't credible. He is obviously a better option than Garrett.

Consistently productive offenses that utilize players that were probably never as good as ours. Greater emphasis on speed and scheme. The Saints offense went to garbage when their offensive line deteriorated and they've never had a great defense.

You bring Payton and Carmichael here and you pair them with Marinelli.... you'll have a great team.

I also wonder if this team wouldn't be better with a man blocking scheme.

The guys who gladly waved goodbye to Payton years ago now proclaim him the savior.

Round and round we go with these coaches. One of them has to be it.

And if that is true, the very next year they were rue-ing it when Payton embarrassed Parcells in live TV, when the latter's defense couldn't stop s basic screen and Payton set the blue-print for beating the Cowboys by attacking Bradie Janes and the rest of our bum LBs in space..

I'm wondering what's up with the title 'Hard push for Payton. Romo's only hope?'

What is the infatuation with Romo and a ring? I get it that Romo has played well for most of his career. Does the team somehow owe Romo anything? Are the other 52 players playing for a 'Ring for Tony' or are they playing for a championship for themselves and their teammates. Does Jerry owe Romo anything other than the $100-130M he has paid/will pay him? What about the other players? Romo does not trump the team. My take is that this thinking is detrimental to the team. Romo has been paid very, very well. He has been numerous times part of a team that had a window of opportunity. Two or three times he got hurt. I get it that injuries are part of the game, but you have to find a way to stay healthy, too. This was a good team this year with a good chance and he got hurt. It isn't like Romo has had to play with a bare cupboard. He's had good players to work with generally.

I don't get where people think Romo is entitled to a ring or something. No one owes Romo anything. If Romo wants a ring, he needs to go out there and earn a ring as part of the team. I just don't understand this mentality that we have to keep doing this or getting this player or getting this coach so Romo can get his ring.

Playing in Garrett's offense that constantly allows free runners on blitzed and exposed Tony to all sorts of injuries, while carrying Garrett's jock and getting him a 5 year extension of millions, one can reasonably argue that both Jerry and Jason owe him for keeping the Cowboys relevant..

And SB may not be guaranteed, but at least the Cowboys won't look like trash on offense and they'll be fun and exciting to watch...

Even now, with their rebuilding, they put up over 40 against the Panthers...

Well with Payton in, that means Garrett is out, and he, Romo, and Witten are all best buds. I'm not convinced Tony buys off on that, Witten either as that would probably mean a reduced role and he's not going to go for that.

I see many issues against a Garrett removal.

I think the whole kit and kaboodle sink slowly into a 9-7 8-8 7-9 quagmire for a couple of more years.

http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/cowboys/post/_/id/4719086/sean-payton-has-close-ties-to-witten-romo

Romo is here because of Payton and spent a couple of years under his grooming. He also is from the same alma mater and they had open communications during the year he was drafted. They still keep in contact.

And Payton has worked with Witten as well.

Payton even mentioned living close to Jerry Jones.

These guys would be excited of Payton came. I don't doubt it for a minute..

He may have found one in Grayson. Really liked him coming out of the draft this year.

His weakness may be defense, but we can be fine with Marinelli, as long as we can get the safeties and we move to his Bears style of play of cover-2 that produced TOs galore.

But Payton either way has totally retooled his defense this year. He's rebuilding and they've had a lot of roster TO.

RM needs cover 2 type corners as well. Our guys struggle with zone and it leaves so many open lanes in the secondary for a QB to throw into.
