Jimmy would have had one if he could have replaced Marino
With who?

Makes no sense to pay the 25 mil left on Garrett's contract to only dish out another 30 million plus to bring in another coach. I don't see our FO spending nearly 50 million for the HC spot.
Jerry won't. But he should.
That's it in a nutshell.
Why not? He didnt mind when they took Garretts play calling duties away and gave them first to Callahan and then to Linehan. I'm pretty sure he can survive without him.

I does if you're getting really old and your staring QB's window is closing. Jones has plenty of money and you can't take it with you. I guess he could stick with Jason (.500) Garrett for the rest of his life.
A change of culture with a new HC may be the key to get us over the hump.
I'm wondering what's up with the title 'Hard push for Payton. Romo's only hope?'
What is the infatuation with Romo and a ring? I get it that Romo has played well for most of his career. Does the team somehow owe Romo anything? Are the other 52 players playing for a 'Ring for Tony' or are they playing for a championship for themselves and their teammates. Does Jerry owe Romo anything other than the $100-130M he has paid/will pay him? What about the other players? Romo does not trump the team. My take is that this thinking is detrimental to the team. Romo has been paid very, very well. He has been numerous times part of a team that had a window of opportunity. Two or three times he got hurt. I get it that injuries are part of the game, but you have to find a way to stay healthy, too. This was a good team this year with a good chance and he got hurt. It isn't like Romo has had to play with a bare cupboard. He's had good players to work with generally.
I don't get where people think Romo is entitled to a ring or something. No one owes Romo anything. If Romo wants a ring, he needs to go out there and earn a ring as part of the team. I just don't understand this mentality that we have to keep doing this or getting this player or getting this coach so Romo can get his ring.

Romo is a M.A.S.H. unit thanks in part to our ineptitude in the front office. We owe him a ring. That's my take.
Romo must have a really, really bad OL. The inept front office only gave him Tyron Smith, Fredbeard, Leary, Collins, Martin, Free, Bern, etc. to protect him.
Maybe years previously, but not recently in my opinion.

He won't take it, he'll pass it down to his family. I just don't get the contention that signing Payton suddenly guarantees us a SB win.
Excellent post but the second #2 somewhat bothers me. The performance of the players might remain lackluster. Coaching decisions may continue being questionable. The general manager could consider trying out Rowdy for quarterback depth. Some fans might develop disinterest for whatever reason. My question is why would someone remain a fan of any team if the team no longer held any interest for them? I understand frustration, anger, belligerence, etc., any fan may have for the team not performing as expected. The emotions validate continued interest in the team. However why would someone remain interested in a team if the team nurtures apathy within them? That seems like false self-representation to me.
I see Sean Peyton going to Indy to help out Andrew Luck.
It doesn't but an upgrade in coaching elevates the whole team, IMO this team sorely lacks in personal accountability. You know Jimmy was never afraid to call out a player individually and publicly about their performance and the players knew this and feared this. In today's NFL you have to hold your players accountable but I see and hear too many times where JG will speak in general when asked about a player who played poorly instead of just telling the truth. He'll say something like "John would be the first to tell you that he needs to improve on his play" it's like he doesn't want to hurt the players feelings or something. If you want to know about accountability just Google Bruce Arians and accountability and see what you come up with, he's changing the culture in Arizona and it shows.
