Yes and he has good reason to stay. He brought that city a championship. I'm sure that pedestal is through the roof. I don't see him leaving.

he'd be a MASSIVE improvement immediately here I think but I've not seen him as a coach on the hot seat.

I don't need to google accountability. My post has nothing to do with accountability. You're adding on to the topic that I originally posted regarding our FO spending 50+ million on two coaches. How's that environment in NO today? The same NO teams that's fighting for last place in their division like we are with their starting QB.

Somehow he is supposed to come right in and make us SB winners? There are no guarantees in the NFL and the only certainty in the NFL is its uncertainty. No coach has won with two different teams and somehow Payton will be the one to make history??

Point is we're stuck with Garrett next season whether we like it or not. This isn't an endorsement for Garrett to stay either.

Oh yes it is, in this thread everything you have said has been a backhanded endorsement of Garrett. If Bill Bellicheck was on the market there are no guarantees that he would get us to the super bowl but does that mean that he isn't an upgrade? Do you not pursue him? NO has nowhere near the talent along both lines, wr, te as the Cowboys but we are suppose to believe that they should be better than them?

I'm on the record as saying that Garrett never should've been named HC in the first place, he didn't have the credentials, he's never been a hc of any team before Dallas that includes pop warner, middle and high school.

SP has taken his team to the playoffs numerous time and won the whole thing with a flawed team (below average defense). Garrett has to have everything work perfect for him to win 1 playoff game in his 5 years here.

The same reason why a parent won't give up on a child even though that child - now an adult - may be a drug addict or a drug dealer or choose to live a questionable life.

There's a loyalty/love that remains regardless of the state of the individual. And while that love/loyalty remains, you just cannot bear to continue to actively care because you've been hurt too much and that person isn't going to change. So you prepare yourself for the worst by guarding your emotions and becoming disinterested.

That's the best way I can explain it.
hmm. I think the correlation is somewhat extreme but I understand where you're coming from. Thanks.

I just don't see us winning again until JG is gone. Maybe if we bring and OC in and let him have control of his offense. Doubtful though. He makes too many blunders outside of the offense.

People haven't said much, but what about milking the clock the other night when we had 2:30 and Bailey came in for the kick? We killed 30 seconds that we could have used at the end!

We can get Paxton Lynch, Elliot, and Bosa in this draft and I still won't be that excited because I know the HC stinks and will screw it all up!

Wrong! My point I made was this FO wasn't going to spend 50M on two head coaches for one vacancy. You can take that and run wherever you'd like, but I didn't make any endorsement to keep Garrett, just applied some logic that our FO won't pay that much for two coaches under one vacancy.

Secondly, who said Payton is on the open market? Fact is, he isn't on the OPEN market which means this team would have to go beyond the 50M threshold to cover two contracts for one vacancy and may have to give up more for Payton's services.

Face it, the team is stuck with the same HC going into next year whether people like it or not.

Payton is a great coach. With two years left on his contract after this season I just don't see a scenario that lands him here this offseason.

Question how many coaches have won the Super Bowl with different teams?
Even the list of coaches that have taken different teams to the SB is short.
Just saying getting a coach that's been there done that doesn't mean history will repeat.

None. It's a challenge for a coach to at least get one. Even our great Jimmy couldn't do it. No knock on him, it just shows how hard it is to build that winner with a new team.

Is it possible that it can ever be done? I'm sure. It'll be interesting to see which coach accomplishes that feat first.

I refuse to invent any emotional capital on anything that suggests that Garrett will go away. Just not worth it.

A subservient Jerry-friendly Jimmy Johnson could drop from the sky right now and Jones wouldn't fire Garrett to hire him.

The guys who gladly waved goodbye to Payton years ago now proclaim him the savior.

Round and round we go with these coaches. One of them has to be it.

Our best chance to get rid of Garrett is a lot of day games with the roof open.

Reasons why he would come to Dallas are as follows:
1. Sean has a great relationship with the Jones Family.
2. Recently got divorced. I believe his ex-wife and children are still in the Dallas area. I think he has a home in Dallas or he recently put it on the market.
3. Jerry will compensate him very well.
4. Being the Dallas HC is one of the Top Jobs in the NFL.

Scratch #4 off your list.

We. That should read whether "we" like it or not. Showing your true colors. Smh.

I mean "people" as in those who haven't come to that reality. Believe it or not there are some people who have accepted it and WE will live with it.

Sign me up for Payton. Jerry missing out on Payton had a lot to do with him making the mistake of promoting Garrett. Hopefully he is now realizing that mistake and would jump at the chance to hire the guy that got away.

Good post.

Holmgren was robbed of that feat.
Parcells was next closest?
