This is one where I'm going to wait and see from a source closer to the organization what comes out. We had reports last week that the team had been offering him support, both from Charles Haley and from their internal player support team. It seems unlikely to me that they'd be that much on top of the player's situation and then he'd just not show up and not let them know he was taking the time off. I buy that he's been having some off the field distraction here and might have needed some time last week, but it seems unlikely that he'd just go AWOL or be late without a consequence.

The unnecessary dig at the team for not preparing last week simply because they lost also tells you what angle that particular bit of reporting was coming from.

When PFT reported that Hardy missed a practice earlier, I believe someone with the Cowboys came out and said he had an excuses absence. This time? Suddenly they don't talk about internal matters?

That's code for, "you bet your *** he blew off some meetings."

I think (actually hope) that Hardy is gone after this season. He certainly hasn't transformed the defensive line into the juggernaut it was supposed to be, and he keeps treading closer to the "psychotic break" borderline.

I know it's PFT, but still.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...-was-late-for-work-missed-meetings-last-week/

I'm starting to wonder if we're just going to let him walk in the offseason. He's talented as hell, but even with what he does on the field (which was a whole lot of nothing this week), it makes me wonder that with all the negative stuff he does that he isn't just a zero sum player in the end.

I'm all set with Greg Hardy. I'll go to battle with Randy Gregory and Demarcus Lawrence.

In fact I'd cut Hardy today and make a statement.

That was a very amateurish article, more rant or tabloid in the way it was written.

If true, there is cause for concern. I get Jerry wants to protect and back his players, but he can't go on enabling poor behavior. From the outside, it does appear this team has poor discipline. There needs to be more accountability on and off the field.

I think cutting him in-season would magnify what some consider to be a mistake. And we know Jerry doesn't really like that. Whereas, if you play out the string and just dont re-sign him.....they can just say it didnt make financial sense.

Didn't PFT have a similar report out there earlier this season and it was an excused absence because of the birth of his baby?

They need to find the leaks around Valley Ranch and get rid of them. I am so tired of these sources year in and year out adding to the drama. I really don't need to know when they have excused absences, take a lunch break, have a pedicure...

PFT claimed that Jason Garrett was out of his contract after the Green Bay game and repeatedly kept saying that Marinelli was long gone and headed to Tampa long before the Green Bay game and after the Green Bay game.

PFT backed up the claim that there was a tape of Dez that was 'far worse than the Ray Rice tape!'

All Florio ever did was he saw the success Perez Hilton had with creating gossip and treating it as news on his site and applied it to the NFL. Too many marks bought into it as credible, particularly NBC. Although I'm not sure they cared when they could make money off of it.

'Always the dollars.' - Casino

So, we would be better off not treating Florio as being remotely credible because he's not.

he sounded real irritated and short by the whole interview actually. i dont know but maybe hardy may be wearing out his welcome.

Hardy gets a pass for the off field stuff with our management, if his on-field stuff is completely together. Missing meetings or showing late on top of the other stuff is a really bad sign in my book. For him, not necessarily for the team. It's a game we absolutely had to have, but the team should come down hard on that crap, if it's true.

And like I said, when they reported Hardy skipped a practice earlier this year, the Cowboys quickly claimed he had an excused absence. Now? Well they don't talk about internal matters.

Exactly! they even talked about that on the radio after the interview. it sounds to me like the team is kind of fed up with covering up for him and the headache aint worth it. unless he turns it completely around i think he may be on his way out which a couple weeks ago i was certain they would resign him in the offseason. hes got to get it together. may be another joseph randle knucklehead.

He's getting 9 mill a year.

No excuses for this type of behavior unless he calls the coaches ahead of time.

He probably did whatever he wanted in Carolina and thinks he deserves special treatment here.

If Stephen Jones is taking a tone and declining to answer, then, yeah, it wasn't excused and something's up. I haven't heard the audio, but I take mugsy at his word on it.
