He shouldn't even have made the flight

I'm not talking about Romo either. From the minute the game ended last week JJ, JG, and Tony, knew Tony would be playing this week. As stupid as that is, they knew our season would completely flip, and become an epic failure if we lose to Jacksonville.

With that being said, Brandon Weeden should have been released on Monday, and not even made the flight to London.

If we can't beat The Jags with our backup QB, we don't deserve to go to the playoffs. We deserve to be 8-8 again. I don't care if it was a freak injury, or if it's totally unrelated to other back problems or not,. We should have been better prepared. Everyone knew Tony would miss some time this year. Your head was in the clouds if you didn't. If Weeden can't beat Jacksonville, with this roster, and these coaches, why is he on the roster?

I waited all week to post this because I wanted to make sure they would go through with the stupidity of playing Tony after breaking two bones in his back. I don't know why I ever questioned myself. I knew they would... I get Tony is tough as nails, and a serious competitor. But this is completely insane. It's wrong for every reason!!! What waste a roster spot for someone you have ZERO confidence in?

Serious question..... Have you ever torn an ACL?

it would be stupid to cut a player you have to pay anyway and one you have no one to replace with. a week ago people were talking about him being so great in the skins game, now they want him cut with no one to replace him. fans are a bit bipolar sometimes
A bit???

Now that's being kind. lol.

Yes, we know it makes fans and media feel better that demand that a player be cut. Repeat the following and you'll feel even better:

"Cut Em"
"I'd cut em"
"Cut his arse"
"Get him outta here"
"Throw him outta the plane over the Atlantic"

Make your case for his roster spot...is there even one to make ?

There's not many awesome backup QBs in the NFL. Weeden sucked but he wasn't considered the worst insurance policy in the world before last week.

Hell, after the Commanders game, it was suggested by many that we would've won if Romo didn't return.

Yup....true

How one bad game can change everyones perception.

And I'm still not sure what or who to blame......Can you really blame Weeden for forcing the ball to the Cowboys best receiver after watching Romo do it time and again...and Dez making spectacular catches?

I didn't like how he locked onto receivers......

Nor did he go through his progressions.......Missed Beasley underneath a bunch

And in general was just off......(Maybe the speed of the game/rust)

After sitting on this the last few days I'm of the opinion to start Weeden again......because it would be nice to give Romo the extra rest for the stretch run. Hopefully rejuvinate him as well. it seems to me he wears down as the season progresses anyway. It would be a shame to have Romo re-injure his back even worse....then really have the season in jeopardy.

Give him the extra time to heal.....

But......if things were to start falling apart vs Jacksonville..... bring Tony in as a last resort. You can't go into the bye riding a 3 game losing streak.

I agree with you that they should have been better prepared by getting a better backup.

Can you name a QB who was available that was considered better and who wasn't being offered a starting job? The Cowboys wanted Orton but him not wanting to play for the team left the Cowboys scrambling and they settled on Weeden.

Weeden should play this Sunday. Sit Romo . Gets him another week of recovery.

Caleb Hanie was in camp not sure I would say he was better.

I would have taken Sanchez over Weeden

I think Sanchez was a better option but doesn't really matter. It's done now.

I didn't wait all week. I said it earlier this week. He should be cut IMMEDIATLEY if they think he cannot beat Jacksonville. If he cannot beat Jacksonville...then who in the NFL can he beat? If the answer is no one...then he should not be on the team. I also said Romo should have been ruled out of this game immediatley...and that would send a message to the coaches, the players, the play callers....a message that you cannot get field goals blocked...you cannot drop passes....you need to give the team a boost with decent kick/punt returns...you need to stop staring down your 1st read on offense...you Brandon Weeden need to practice this week and perform like your career depended on it...you cannot miss tackles...you need to block the man in front of you...you need to open holes in the running game....etc. This team cannot relax because Romo is coming back..because if they don't do those things....we will find ourselves in a dog fight...and you just might get your franchise QB knocked out for the season. And if that happens....Weeden will HAVE to play the next 6 games!

Hey, Garrett is the guy who thought Brad Johnson and Brooks Bollinger were viable backups. Not sure who made the call on Kitna, Orton or Weeden.

I agree that if he can't beat Jacksonville, why is he even on the roster?

But if Romo can't go at any time during that game, .. you do know that he will be in the game.

I would have gone with Sanchez myself he signed with the Eagles 11 days after the Cowboys signed Weeden. I'm assuming Weeden was the cheaper option and the Cowboys probably felt there's still some room for him to grow with this being only his 3rd season.

Caleb Hanie was in camp not sure I would say he was better.

One other point on Hanie I believe he's still available. He did show a little something subbing for an injured Jay Cutler during the playoffs vs the Packers in 2010. He was 13 of 20 for 153 yards and a TD but fell apart later tossing 2 picks. Having spent the summer with the Cowboys he would have some knowledge of the offense but the fact he saw hardly any preseason action and was cut and is currently without a team makes it appear he can't play.
