There's not many awesome backup QBs in the NFL. Weeden sucked but he wasn't considered the worst insurance policy in the world before last week.

Hell, after the Commanders game, it was suggested by many that we would've won if Romo didn't return.

Many of the people who are lambasting Weeden today are the same. Ones who said Romo shouldn't go back in against the skins. It's kind of hilarious.

That about covers it. lol
only thing is this time it's for real..weeden will never throw for 300+ yard and 3 TD's with no ints as a Cowboy. Tony can do that. Even aganist the Jags..lol...he cant do it. If he does i shall never enter the Zone again. Now that in and of it's self so be enough for someone to bet. THE MAN has talent, but it's not at the professional level in any sport.

Not baseball, not football and not at Horseshoes.hell, even i could beat him there. I'm up to 53% ringers on a hundred.

I don't Care who our QB is....even the rookie. If the Cowboys lose to the Jags and their rookie QB, then it really doesn't matter--that would mean it was a momentary illusion and this team isn't worth spit.

If you really believe we need Romo to win, then we need to fire the staff, bag the season and plan our draft.

Sanchez
1 year deal
$750K signing bonus
$1.5 million base
$2.25 million cap hit
$1.5 million dead money if the Eagles cut him

Weeden
2 year deal
$0 signing bonus
$570K base in 2014 and cap hit
$0 dead money if Dallas cut him
$660K base in 2015 and cap hit
$0 dead money if Dallas cuts him

Awesome, thanks.
Definitely understand why they signed Weeden now instead of Sanchez. Those are very different numbers

So are these

2014:

Weeden: 2 losses
Sanchez: 1 win

That is an over simplistic view of things. Wins take a whole team to accomplish. Weeden didn't do his part, but neither did a lot of other guys on the team. In the long run Sanchez isn't going to fair much better. He had what many are saying is a good game and he still threw two interceptions.

According to Aikman, Mark Stepnoski played with the same injury and that is with a defender right on top of you each play.

Baylor’s Bryce Petty said Monday he went through the identical injury (cracked transverse processes), and missed one game but then returned to the lineup.
“He can call me if he wants,” Petty said, via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. “Everybody deals with it different. What doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger. He’ll be fine, like I am.
“As far as a back injury to have, this is the one to have. It kind of heals itself. He has all the good people up there to help him out, just like I had the people down here to help [me] out.”

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...h-same-injury-as-tony-romo-says-hell-be-fine/

This is not being stupid he is the starting QB if he can play then he will. I don't expect him to play if he can move around and has no zip on his pass but as a professional football player he will play if he can just as a college QB was able to go out and play with the same injury

Were these guys coming off two consecutive back surgeries?

With that said you should never settle for a guy that should be shoveling **** for a living. You don't invest $150 million into a roster and go cheap on the backup QB.

Really. You could say that about any team in the league.

These generic arguments. They leave me so bored and frustrated with the quality of posts here.

They may have, considering the complete capitulation by Romo when he returned...Weeden had been good enough to not muff it up right until someone decided that it was good business to expose Romo to more damage at the hands of Jim Haslett, who simply picked up where he left off before Romo was injured.

Are you good enough to start as a NFL QB? If not then mox nix.

Are you good enough to be an analyst? If not, welllllllllll...............C'mon, your better than that aren't you? So you have to be good enough to play in the NFL to have an opinion at CZ? With that logic, uhhh, nevermind.

EVERY NFL MIND in the country, (except that of DC HOMERS) are saying the same thing. Weeden wasn't good in Cleveland, and isn't any good in Dallas. He should be able to cover Tony for one game against the worst team in the NFL, but isn't trusted enough by his team or his coaches to do so. This has nothing to do with my opinion, it's all clear factOIDS brother.... You don't have to be good enough to start in the NFL to have make any of those statements. You might have to have a little CS though. Or you might need to take the rosies off for a few minutes. The best thing for Tony is rest. He could have sat out the rest of the Washington game, the entire Arizona game, the Jacksonville game, had a bye week, and a long week, then came in completely rested and healthy for what will be a treacherous last half of the season. He could go for 400 and 4 and win this game, but if he takes a hit in the 4th quarter and aggravates his piece-milled back, will it be worth it? Or could we have prepped a little better and not had this worry at all?

In fairness to Weeden he did play against one of the better defenses in the NFL last week. Not many backup quarterbacks would look good against Arizona.

Yes, we know it makes fans and media feel better that demand that a player be cut. Repeat the following and you'll feel even better:

"Cut Em"
"I'd cut em"
"Cut his arse"
"Get him outta here"
"Throw him outta the plane over the Atlantic"

you left out "I'd love to be the one to tell him he's cut".

I'm not talking about Romo either. From the minute the game ended last week JJ, JG, and Tony, knew Tony would be playing this week. As stupid as that is, they knew our season would completely flip, and become an epic failure if we lose to Jacksonville.

With that being said, Brandon Weeden should have been released on Monday, and not even made the flight to London.

If we can't beat The Jags with our backup QB, we don't deserve to go to the playoffs. We deserve to be 8-8 again. I don't care if it was a freak injury, or if it's totally unrelated to other back problems or not,. We should have been better prepared. Everyone knew Tony would miss some time this year. Your head was in the clouds if you didn't. If Weeden can't beat Jacksonville, with this roster, and these coaches, why is he on the roster?

I waited all week to post this because I wanted to make sure they would go through with the stupidity of playing Tony after breaking two bones in his back. I don't know why I ever questioned myself. I knew they would... I get Tony is tough as nails, and a serious competitor. But this is completely insane. It's wrong for every reason!!! What waste a roster spot for someone you have ZERO confidence in?

I agree completely with what you said. But if Dallas losses this game I think there is major concern they even make playoffs. They have to nip the losing streak in the bud and if they means a 75% Romo they will take that over 100% Weeden. But there are risk there if Romo plays.

Promote Dustin Vaughn as primary back up; demote Weeden to 3rd string!

Personally, I would have preferred that they spray painted him from head to toe in silver paint, tied him to the tail of the plane, propped his mouth open and turned him into a shiny windsock on the flight over. But that's just me.
