Apparently Denver wants to get ahead of buffalo to get patrick willis. And apparently Houston is the team that is willing to deal with them.

If denver jumped to 10, I think that would be great for us. If Adrian Peterson falls to 10 and then Denver moves into that spot he would at least make it to 11, I dont think San francisco would take him.

So that leaves buffalo and then maybe it really will be time to figure out how bad we want Peterson, if he is there.

22=780
12=1200

so 420 Has to be made up. that would cost us our 2nd(370) and 4th(50).

So the question is Can julius jones recoup a 2nd and a 4th? Can he recoup a 3rd and a 5th? or is he only worth a 4th on draft day?

Very intersting to me, if julius could recoup a 2 or a 3 and 5 and you can get peterson from buffalo for the 22, 53 and 122 it would be something to think about.

So lets hope if they do want peterson that:

The Browns take quinn.
Houston doesnt want peterson
Houston and denver swap for willis if still there.

Just throwing it out there, what I heard, its a rumour from nfl sirius radio, please dont take this fact or hype...Just passing along something I heard which could lead to something I think!

I'd take a high 3rd at the very least. Going by what Jerry said yesterday, a players stock jumps quite a bit after the draft. Some team doesn't come away with the RB they hoped for,or as happens every year, someone gets hurt and JJ's stock soars for a 2008 pick. So if we don't get what we want and we do make the move for AD, we should just hang onto JJ. What's the worst thing that can happen, we go into the seaon with JJ, MB3, AD and TT? I'm all for dumping JJ if we get AD, but if we don't get our price we shouldn't give him away is all i'm saying.

Jerrah pretty much said that trading current players NOW is a bad idea due to the FACT that getting value for them is not happening untill AFTER the draft.

I agree. But the problem is that folks want the next big star at running back. 'Boys have been blessed at that position and since JJ hasn't quite lived up to the billing, we want to trade him in.

Personally, I'd take a flier on Michael Bush in one of the later rounds if he's available.

I agree, stregthen the defensive backfield, Oline, and wr positions first and if you can get Michael Bush for the future.... then get him instead of strengthening a RB core that's already strong (in trading picks and players for AP) and still have a few areas that will need to be addressed next year (or even this year depending on injuries).

This is how you keep a team strong for the long haul in drafting MORE talent that is affordable and then you don't have to spend a bundle in FA.

Its real easy to SAY that good RBs are easy to find. BUT when you do it yourself it seems a lot harder to do.

I agree. There are many decent backs but it is hard to find an elite RB and when you get the chance to grab you I think you have to. Landry and Tex understood that which is why they made the big move to move up with Seattle and take Dorsett despite the fact that we were able to make it to the SB with Newhouse and Preston Person.

Good point. I am just thinking out loud, peterson would pretty much make jones irrelevant here and even though he would be devalued, if you can get a pick or two it would be hard not to take him.

this whole thing is just speculation and it would take alot for it to happen.

I asked some bills fans on their message board and from what they have read and heard, buffalo likes peterson and willis so much they are willing to trade up to get either. so who knows!

Houston passed on Bush as they thought Domanick 'the player formerly known as Davis' Williams could be their guy. He was injured all last year due to a lingering knee injury during the previous season and is now a free agent. He may never suit up again.

Their current RB's are Ron Dayne, Sam Gado and Wali Lundy. Peterson is a major upgrade over all those guys and would put arses in seats.

And you would consider Adrian "Brittle Bones" Peterson an elite rb? :D

Yes I do, Peterson like any football player can get injured yet none of the injuries are types of injuries that would present a problem down the road. High Ankle sprain most RB will deal with that from time to time. Broken collar bone it can happen. This ideal that Peterson is some fragile guy is BS. This is football injuries are part of the game.

lets say Buffalo is sitting there at #12 with Adrian Peterson on the board, and we offer Buffalo Julius Jones and our 3rd round pick...that would definitely work!

Buffalo would draft Peterson in a second. In fact, if he starts slipping they're probably Dallas' main competition for a move up if he starts slipping.

Him and every other person who's watch him play for three seconds.

Servicable, Julius Jones caliber runningbacks are easy to find. Special ones tend to be more difficult.

True... and he is getting old... BUT... remember who you are dealing with here. The Houston Football-Astros have been making very poor draft decisions in recent history...

True but Casserly is gone.

We would have to offer a mammoth deal to move up anyways - and that would be compounded even more by Buffalo's willingness to possibly up whatever we offer to get Peterson first.

They are the main competition, as I see it. Peterson shouldn't fall, but given the RB situations in the top 10, it's a possibility.

LaRon Landry who would have been a first-rounder last year, ... An ankle injury forced him to miss the entire season, taking away what was ...
Oh my god he must be brittle as well. Look around and you will see college players get injured it is football not a Madden video game

Not to throw gas on this fire, but a little birdie told me yesterday that Buffalo is asking what it would take to get Julius.

I'm not saying there is anything to it, just passing along the info.

That is what I think too. Also many on the bills board I talked to today said because they have extra picks from the mcgahee trade they would be willing to move up a spot or two to get peterson or willis.

So does that mean we have to get to 11 make a deal with san fransisco!

it is only a 50 point difference to trade to 11, but they would probably ask for our third to do it.

ourlads has spencer going at 15 to pittsburgh....! Saturday is going to be alot of fun.

Ahman Green has put a lot of wear and tear on himself while up in Green Bay, so it wouldn't be a bad idea for them to look at a younger back anyway, but who knows with all the comments and posturing that's going on with teams right now.

I'd be so happy we got a potential star like AD i guess i wouldn't care what we got for JJ:D But if push came to shove i'd rather have a day 1 pick this year, even if it were a round lower than next year. If we came away with AD and a good 3rd rounder on day 1, oh say JL Higgins or Zak DeOssie, 1 i'd call that a good day.

Good info thanks man. It would make sense. I think jones could plug into the buffalo offense and produce somewhere in the neighborhood of what mcgahee did.

Very interesting. I would love to know the little birdie!
