Yes. If somehow Watkins fell to 16 and Dennard to our 2nd round pick, by all means, take them.

Thanks for the lesson. My education tells me that if you lose a player like Ware's production, either by decline due to age or cap casualty, you are less talented until you can replace that player. If the goal is to win now odds are Ware will be much more effective than any rookie DE not named Clowney.

If Watkins falls to 16, I'm calling him with my best Jerry impersonation myself!

Of course they want him to see what his value will be. If we sign him I'm even more convinced we are targeting JFB in the draft. Yes I know we have holes to fill at DE. But I think Helton/Crawford will play the 1-tech 3-tech and have a good rotation with McClain and Bass and Selvie at DE and a 2nd rd pick for the other DE also I'm starting to think that Josh Brent is going to be apart of the club come June of course this is just my opinion. But for some reason I believe we are building for the future and I think it's possible this could be Romo/wittens last year as a Cowboy. For Witten it depends on Gavin's development this year and for Romo it's all about health and production and a first round pick.

We cant cut Romo, even after this year.........................Would still be around $30 million dollar cap penalty.

Spags says the deal was set up to be a 3 year marriage, cant get out before then without massive cap penalty.

If he leaves Seattle without a contract, my prediction is he will be a cowboy.

Seattle probably knows this as well, so they will really push hard to sign him while he is there. So I guess it comes down to a bidding war except Seattle can entice him with a chance for a ring while we only got 500 seasons to entice him with. However, we have the Marinelli connection going for us and Melton is from Texas.

if they put the eggs in the melton basket, I hope that they at least communicate better with him than they did with Ware and Hatch

also, I am intrigued by the thought of throwing a little Peppers on that liver for Melton

so if its not watkins and dennard but another wr and cb you wouldnt?

Yeah, there would have to be value there. I'll take Anthony Barr and Morgan Moses but I wouldn't take Kareem Martin and Seantrel Henderson. It's about value. Your implied accusation that I wouldn't take a WR and CB was wrong. All ties would go against that though.

so if their big board doesnt line up with your big board theirs is wrong?

Well, chances are yeah. We're talking about the Cowboys here. One of the worst drafting teams in the league over the last two decades and the same guy is picking players.

But it's not about that. I have an opinion. I will judge the picks when they're made with my opinion. As everybody else will. Some people can handle all opinions. Other's cant.

and your welcome for the lesson. my education tells me that it doesnt have to be done with one guy, it tells me that many teams do it with multiple guys just not 1 guy.

That's true. It can be done by platoon. It just can't be done by the current stiffs that would platoon on this team.

Again, my opinion. It's been right a lot.

my education tells me having one guy hasnt helped us in the past. it also tells me it would be great to replace that guy in one draft but sometimes its just not there.

I don't believe having Ware has kept us from winning anything. I believe the horrible GM just failed to put the pieces around him to win anything.

RIght, sometimes you just can't. Usually you can't. Ware is a rare player. If you're going to go all out to win this year, I think you do it by retaining Ware and hoping he returns to form.

it also tells me that until they are drafted and on the field its hard to say if we have that replacement or not. my education also tells me before you make a smart *** comment like you usually do ill go ahead and comment on the 2 guys we signed already. they arent here replace ware and haich produciton. great chance they wont even start. they are depth and rotational guys.

They're stiffs. Ham and eggers. JAGs in every sense of the term.

btw ive never seen you give ideas of what you would like to do in fa. in fact the only thing ive seen you really say besides bash everything they do is build from inside out, i see you bash every move but never seen what you would have liked us to do in fa. what players? how much money for them players?

Well then you need to read me more closely. That's not my problem.

I wanted to blow this team up and do a complete rebuild since I know it's fatally flawed. Get a new head coach in here this offseason, one the lunatic owner would respect. Clean out the salary cap and start over. I'm not trying to win this year.

But the Cowboys predictably chose to go all in for 2014. I think you do that with retaining Ware and, again, hoping he returns to form. It's merely a calendar year from his last double digit sack season. I don't think it's unreasonable or unlikely to think he's going to do it again. You lose your edge rusher and you are a vastly inferior defense.

The Cowboys chose to release him. So I said I'm for signing Melton to a deal under Hatcher's and Peppers to a short term mid level deal of say 5 to 6 million per. I said that.

Dallas is really going to look into this guy after his latest deal?

RKG all the way.

I think Jerry is going to need to do something to help us forget we lost Ware and Hatcher and keep us excited about the upcoming season, so Melton is in a pretty good position to command some big bucks from him. He is shiny enough to distract most of the fans until the draft, and would also fill one of the gaping holes in our defense. Even though he is a WKG, these are desperate times, and we have an uphill climb to field a defense as good as last year's, which was dead last in the NFL. :(

Say we don't add a "great DT in the first, get an above average DE in the second". Say we miss?

Banking exclusively on the draft, an inexact process which does have variables like other teams vying for the very same "great DT" and "above average DE" is taking a risk.

I get how you can hope for that, wish desperately it happens. But that should not be a substitute for doing what you can to ensure you do not have to do that.

For the record, I am at that point of desperation that getting Melton is almost crucial. Sad it has to be that way, but it is pretty much the reality.

It is just sad to be in a "got to get this player or bust". In free agency or the draft.

I can live with building through the draft. But then you have to be honest with yourself, realize that it's going to take several years and say you're rebuilding, and get the qb of the future. Jerry and Stephen have been unwilling to do that. They're probably going to try to have it both ways - rebuild and compete - and it's going to be a disaster.

If Melton signs with SEA, I predict a full page of threads predicting the Cowboys go DL in the first round.

They wouldn't have scheduled the visit if they believe he's out of their price range.

It's not like he shows up and they ask him what he's looking for. They already know. That it's reached the visit stage means the Cowboys think they can get a deal done. They wouldn't waste their time if they didn't think so.

Right, fuel for a private jet is pretty expensive.

It just seems incredible how fast you post news from twitter, so I was thinking your phone is always going off. That and you follow possibly every journalist in the sports world period.
