Herm Edwards Fired

We are done next season if we have Wade as HC..we arnt going to the playoffs..there's nothing to look foward to next season..It's going to be the same old story..start out 3-0..then suck balls the rest of the season with players coming out and whining. I've seen this movie before and I know how it ends.

How can the Chiefs be close to a deal to hire Shanahan without having a minority interview? Doesn't this violate the Rooney rule?

I think the KC job would be a good one. Plenty of room to improve, great fans, ownership, plenty of youth and draft picks, etc.

So are you saying your not happy?

is it that obvious?? I really hope Shefter is right about it not happening..maybe this will put a scare into Jerry..doubt it

Don't you have to interview a minority coach before hiring a new coach. So MS can't be hired yet.

It's definitely a good job to take.

As you might guess the local media is ALL over this news up here. There is massive dancing in the streets now. The GM and new HC bring 5 super bowl rings with them. The guys on the sports radio station are going absolutely crazy. I'm about to throw up.

Is this the same coach who went 8-8 and had to win 1 out of 3 games to make the post season and lost. You want to cry over Shanahan be my guest. Jerry has said he was staying with Wade only some in the media and fans have been throwing unfounded rumors around other wise and now you act shocked or mad? Unbelievable :laugh2:

Unbelieveable is the fact you cannot grasp even the simplest of concepts.

Shanahan was a symbol. So is Mike Holmgren. So is Bill Cowher.

In other words, they are respected NFL head coaches with solid resumes that might make Jerry Jones think twice before interfering like an imbecile like he has done since Coach Parcells had enough.

Another option for 2010 is probably gone.

But that is a reason for you to feel smug or satisfied?

Congratulations. We have another year of Wade Phillips which guarantees another year of futility. If he even makes it through that year.

If you want to rejoice in that, be my guest as well.

Interesting point.

Perhaps it simply is more attractive than the mess that we have to offer.

But we have an amazing new stadium. Isn't that nice?

Well, it's about as opposite the situation as you could get from here. That includes talent. However, like was said above, you have a good fan base, good ownership who will let you do what you feel needs to be done, and most likely he'll have plenty of time to get it turned around.

I don't see KC firing Shanahan anytime soon even if they suck the next couple of years.

Adam Schefler from NFL Network just said that Chiefs didn't contact Shanahan.

What the heck is going on!

Mort vs. Schefter lol

MORT AND SCHEFTER DUEL OVER REPORTS OF SHANAHAN TO CHIEFS

Posted by Mike Florio on January 23, 2009, 5:48 p.m.

This is getting pretty good.

Two of the top NFL information men in the business are engaged in a duel regarding the question of whether the Kansas City Chiefs are talking to former Broncos coach Mike Shanahan regarding the possibility of replacing former Chiefs coach Herm Edwards.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that the Chiefs and Shanahan are closing in on a deal.

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reported on Thursday, and has reiterated today, that the Chiefs have made no contact with Shanahan.

“Unless people I have known for years are blatantly lying to me, Shanahan is not going to be the next head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs,” Schefter writes. “It is not happening. People can keep talking as if it is. But it is not. He will not be the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2009.”

Someone's going to look like a moron in the deal, I hope it's Mort. Jerrah won't fire Wade nor will he cut TO. Doesn anyone get the feeling that he's just being stubborn to not admit he made a mistake?

I hope Schefter is right. Even if 2009 is basically a lost cause as far as reaching our ultimate goal, I still maintain hope that 2010 will have Shanahan at the helm.

He is sticking to the story he has had for the last couple of days.

Since Denver was his old stomping grounds, he should have a better take.
