Thornhill was always my crush. I don't see how you can compare him alongside Hill as a pure prospect and come away with that and decide to take Hill.

But even Rapp would have been better. That is kind of the point.

Exactly...………..I really dont see how a pro scout could look at the tape of Thornhill, Rapp, and Hill and come away with the impression Hill is the best of the three.

Kinda like looking at the tape of Watt and Taco and somehow coming away with the impression Taco was better.

I have to assume that they are just ignoring the scouts and their board and just drafting on the fly, only explanation for this bad of picks.

Well, after Taco and Hill, hopefully the defencive line credibility of Marinelli is nil. Surely they can see that he doesn't know what he's doing.

Yeah, after you piss away a pair of first and second round picks on scrubs, the guy who vouched for them should have zero cred now.

If I am in the war room, I ask Marinelli who he likes on the D line and then I draft anybody he doesn't mention.

The only thing I can think of, as to why we passed on Thornhill was that he was too much like Byron Jones?

In other words, the consensus may have been that we already have that guy on the roster and we don't want to put that type of player again at FS.

Regardless, I do have high hopes for Donovan Wilson becoming a starter next year. :)

Yup. We needed impact players on defence, and Marinelli failed.

Nobody knows because these guys only watch the Cowboys play. They have no idea how they actually fare besides looking at rankings.
It's comical isn't it. They don't watch the rest of the league but they make the most comments about it. I'm a football fan. Cowboys first.

Why can we not succeed at drafting in the 2nd round? We seem to do better even in the lower rounds but the 2nd round seems to always be a bust.
I’m not sure what later rounds you are looking at but they can’t be better than our second round. A lot of our second rounders are starters here.

Nah, the guy is about as sharp as can be when it comes to NFL football. He just gets tired of dumb questions and comments.

It's a forum and If he doesn't like the comment he can move along. Insults are childish.

Um, have you been living under a rock?

Both Thornhill and Rapp have got their fair share of kudos for their play this year.

Meanwhile, we have fat dumpy dork Hill talking about his one goal in life right now is to not fall asleep during inspirational speeches and Marinelli saying his one job is to make him get his crap in gear.

It is sad. A dumb and lazy high maintenance kid paired with an enabling old man who thinks he can somehow get him in gear.

I think that would be a heck of a sitcom plot.
Marinelli and lets not forget Richard...he wanted him up front ….somehow screaming Richard gets a pass....

plus, at this point it doesn't matter.....move on....bad draft pick (after 7 games, cowboys fans came to conclusion ala Taco)…...what's the move we have to make to correct this

A 2nd rounder should be more ready to contribute than this kid is.
Cracks me up that folks expect the 58th pick in the draft to come in and start making plays immediately. 6 picks away from being a 3rd rounder.

He wasn't expected to do that when he was drafted. And now he's taking all kind of heat because he isn't.

Makes no sense.

Gee I don't know Ron. Let's see....

2018 Conner Williams
2017 Chidobe Awuzie
2016 Jaylon Smith
2015 Randy Gregory
2014 Demarcus Lawrence

Pretty solid drafting there. 2 pro bowlers and 2 starters. Considering the normal bust rate is 50%, I'd say the Cowboys are not only doing well, they are doing very well.

I just had a visual from ‘Rocky 2’ here. I can see Hill on the practice field and Marinelli yelling at him. “When I get done with you, you’re gonna eat lightning and crap thunder kid!”

Between all of the bickering going on in here, I am sure we can all agree it was a terrible, terrible pick. I don't care if some think it is "too early" to judge the kid. The writing is and has been on the wall, and well, it's not looking good. I see this kid flaming out of the NFL real quick.

Pretty solid?
Williams is depth and occasional fill in

Awuzie gets his lunch eat on a regular basis

Smith, yes he's top notch starter...agreed

Gregory prefers weed over NFL career....he will never see the field again

Dlaw hit the lottery and disappeared.

Hill will likely be out of the league in a couple of years due to lack of a work ethic.

I don't see the 2nd round as being that stellar.

I honestly don't comprehend how he was a better prospect than Khalen Saunders.

I think it was the point in draft day. Hill is exactly the oversized marshmallow that his film showed him being. No aggression if it involves any heavy contact to get through olinemen and he falls a lot . Both safety prospects had been reviewed 100 times in this board and many thought they would be fine in the first round. Since the Cowboys drafted Hill, who I never saw mentioned by anybody. Posters praised that move and went to bashing the two safety prospects that was still the better draftees.
I saw very few praising the Hill pick.
