recently.... LeVeon Bell, Thomas Rawls, Jeremy Langford, Ameer Abdullah, Carlos Hyde, Melvin Gordon

You're kiddin', right?

Rawls went to Central Michigan.

Hyde has gained a whopping 803 yards in two seasons as a pro at 4.1 yards a pop.

Abdullah rushed for a whopping 597 yards.

Gordon rushed for 641 yards on 3.5 yards per carry.

Langford rushed for 637 yards and 3.7 yards per carry.

Quite the standards you have.

I think we are headed for some long years. This organization is still playing checkers. I have to wonder if EE wasn't selected by us, how far would he have dropped?

I don't think we can get a talent like Ramsey or Lynch anytime soon. I do think we can get a comparable talent to EE if we were patient.

And generally speaking, Big-10 RB's haven't torn up the NFL lately.

YR

My problem with Ramsey was he's projected to play starter. At the 4th overall pick he very well was going to have too. But everyone seems to think he's more suited for free safety. I just don't believe in this hybrid FS/CB position. It sounds nice but I think you need to commit to one once you get into the NFL. ESPECIALLY that rookie year. He wasn't a safe pick at all. I'm not sure if he was worth the investment in a defense full of holes and a league that caters to passing.

Zekes production could of been matched by a 3rd round RB behind this oline. How do you pass on Ramsey for a RB in today's NFL? Grade D

I would have preferred Ramsey or Bosa, BUT if the Boys thought enough of Zeke to pick him at 4, he must be pretty good....and they must think he's much better than all the rest. Keep in mind this team went 12-4 with Demarco, a healthy Romo/Dez and a so-so defense. He will immediately take pressure off the defense (and Romo) and will allow the Boys to control the clock. So, I am willing to give the Zeke pick the benefit of the doubt. IMO, the Boys had better draft 1-2 DEs, 1 DT and a CB before it's all over though.

According to the Jones' in their press conference, they were offered a trade down (presumably by the Ravens), and the Ravens told them that they were going to take Elliott.

Jerry also said that Elliott was the top rated player on their board.

Ah. I guess it makes sense now why we didn't accept Baltimore's trade then.

Fine with Zeke.

Not happy that we left the Baltimore trade on the table that Scheffer reported.

Steven said in the presser that the team they were trading with told Dallas it was Elliott who they were targeting.

We obviously hung up the phone when we heard that.

I don't get this. A year ago we were 12-4. We know what happened last year.

I think that 12-4 season had a dramatic impact on this decision.

The front office realized that getting rid of the bell cow was a huge mistake and that going RBBC with an elite offensive line did not work. That is why they tried to trade and get Murray back, news reports were we talked with the Eagles for an entire week trying to work it out and never could. Then they turned around and used a top 5 pick on a stud RB.

You don't burn a top 5 pick on a RB to be part of a committee, you draft a RB in the top 5 to be your bellcow.

The front office is basically admitting that a huge mistake was made, not in letting Murray walk, but in not replacing Murray with another bellcow RB. That is why they tried to trade and get Murray back and they is why they drafted Zeke. The error is now fixed, we have our bellcow back!!!

That and getting beat by the Broncos for Lynch.

YR

We offered a 4 and the Broncos countered with a 3..............that was too rich for us, so we backed out.

Smart move, I would have been beyond pissed if we would have traded a high 2nd and a high 3rd for a player that is not going to see the field for several years.

Just want ask those who wanted another player other than Elliott to just explain how they feel right now.

Not trying to enflame anyone.

I just think we all need to come together in a tense moment like this.

I post this because I care.

We need to come together for a group hug.

If Dallas would have drafted Elliott or Ramsey at #4, I would have been happy.
If Dallas would have drafted Buckner or Bosa, I would have been upset.
If Dallas would have drafted Eli Apple, I would have been LIVID like the Giants fans are at #10.

We need to focus on what's really important: Zeke's jersey sales will be excellent and make him 100% worth the pick as far as the team is concerned.

Argh we could have traded down, and still gotten Zeke, and ammo to get lynch.

I just dont get it . how do we let Murray walk... and then spend the 4th freaking overall pick on a urban myer RB?

Steven said in his presser that the team trying to trade up (Baltimore, even though he did not mention them by name) told the Cowboys it was Elliott they were targeting.

So no, we could not have traded down and still gotten Zeke because the Ravens were fixing to draft Zeke themselves.

Yup. It's already a disastrous draft. Way to go Jerrah.

YR

Jerry said in the presser that he really didn't think about taking a RB this high, but it was Garrett who convinced him that Zeke was a "foundation player".

So if you want to be pissed at somebody, be pissed at Garrett because he is the guy that sold Jerry on the idea of taking Zeke.

I would have been a happy camper if we had landed Elliott and Lynch even if we had given up our 2nd and 3rd to do so.

Now we’re left with subpar QB talent to choose from and the odds of them becoming what we need in a QB have dropped considerably and for that reason I’m not too happy.

Fingers crossed Romo stays healthy and they can deliver the goods in the next couple of years because beyond that I don’t see Romo being able to remain effective and no matter how good Elliott turns out to be we won’t be going to a SB without him or an adequate replacement.
