How bad does this board melt?

i recently came over from the old Cowboys message board during the offseason. So I am a rookie for the game threads.

Just wondering how bad this board melts down when it ain’t going our way. I will give fair warning that my posts are very critical and sometimes “slightly” negative during the game. It’s like I expect them to be perfect or something. Lol. I usually come back to reality after the game, unless we lose and then I snap blame people for the loss for a few days. If it’s close and we win I kool out.

But the Dez catch - non catch I melted down for a month. A lot of us from the old boards did. I still do. And the last game with Byron admiring rodgers instead of covering his guy RIGHT BEHIND HIM.

Any ways was just wondering. And want to appologize in advance for myself and some of my brothers from the old boards. I do however stay within the rules of the board.

I’m up and down like a roller coaster DURING games, and after the No Catch Game and all the subjective rule changes, Zeke’s BS suspension, and the Mara/Goody shenanigans, I’m BIG TIME cynical these days. I’ve fashioned a rather breathtaking and elaborate tinfoil hat, but it’s a real battle, because I like to have fun and remain optimistic. That said, when I see the giant tidal wave of overreaction explode here after every dropped pass, bad call or missed opportunity, I’ll usually exit the forum and come back later.

This is SUPPOSED TO BE fun!

This board melts down even when we are winning. If Dallas doesn't score on the first possession and Carolina does some on this board will jump off the deep end

I tend to get worked up sometimes in game threads, but when epically bad stuff happens like the non-catch, I'm usually just in too much shock or pain to even react at all. That's usually when I'll just leave the internet all together for a day or two. :(

I’d say it’s pretty bad. Last year I was more optimistic than this year which is a rarity for me and several times I had to leave the live game threads because so many people were so negative it was bringing me down. Tjis year, I may be one of them haha. The final straw was when we were barely half way through the season, still well in the playoff hunt and several people wanted us to lose out for a better draft pick because we were losing.

Like you, a loss normally ruins my week, literally. So this year I’m trying a different strategy and am attempting to mentally prepare myself to be disappointed so if it does happen maybe I can actually get over a loss in a day or two instead of until our next win. I’m quite sure this strategy won’t work and I’ll be po’d at the world but we’ll see.
The last game the Cowboys lost that upset me was the Green Bay playoff game in 2016. Now, win or lose, I enjoy the game just the same. I just laugh about the losses. It pisses the homers off making jokes about the game, but it is what it is. Not going to allow a loss to spoil my mood anymore.

I mean, that was our last meaningful loss, Aviano :)

So your one of those types that blames the refs for losses?

Fasten your seatbelt. :muttley:
It was the same way over at the DC.com board. We had a poster in the game day thread complain about passing on 3rd and short, demanding we run the ball. Later in game we have 3rd and short and run outside. Poster complained we should have ran up the middle. Later in same game, we run up the middle on 3rd and short and don’t get first down and he complained we should have passed because everyone knew we would run. It was great watching that sequence.

Game threads are the same on every single sports message board. Tons of emotions and ups and downs. Knee jerk reactions. But that's every single fanbase for every sport. The Eagles fans were already booing their team just less than one half removed from their first Super Bowl. Game threads are not an accurate barometer of true feelings. It's all raw emotion in the moment. Once the game ends and emotions die down, then the more rational thoughts come out.

You will have people after the first 1st down Carolina gets, how crappy our defense and we are about to finish 0-16

And there's the key. Learn to ignore those who aren't worth a response. Took me years to be able to do it, but it made my time on the boards much, much better.
Plus, you were a mod over on the other board. I’m guessing you learned “even keel” really early in that game.

If we ain't playing well, I get upset because I don't wanna watch anymore. That means I have to go find work to do. So I ain't sure it's the losing or having to get to work that's the burr under my saddle.
