How can anyone defend these coaches?

We're in first and are over .500. With all of the injuries we've had and having to count on 3 guys on the Dline who were picked up, we're doing good. I think the coaches are doing a good job with what they have now on the field.

How many times have we told our children not to do something and they do it? Don't eat too much candy; Don't stay out too late; Don't drop a perfectly thrown ball

Okay.

So what is a coach paid to do?

That's the bottom line. Garrett has two ways to go here: He can get the current players to stop making mistakes, or he can get new players who don't make mistakes. He's been here three years, and there comes a time when you're held accountable for the on-field product.

Like I said, the good news is, Garrett gets another opportunity to break free from mediocrity next week.

We're just like the Patriots if you think about it. They play in close games too sometimes.

our dline is depleted (ware, crawford, spencer, lost ratliff, etc) and we have starters out in the secondary.......how are we poorly coached? We could use some of that Lester Hayes stick'em though

We ran the ball 7 times, who are we WSU being coaches by mike leach!!!! That's how !!!

Because the problem in Dallas is not with the coaching?

I know, I know. You're on a high from second-guessing every single play call again this week, and so that's what's got you worked up. But the facts are that this is really not a bad team, and that the limitations we do have are not with the coaching. And I don't care how many of you guys have willfully convinced yourselves otherwise, or how often you repeat it to make yourselves feel like it's actually the case.

If we have a different head coach next season at this time...the results won't be different. The personnel on this team is very mediocre.
-Maybe 2 defensive players are above average.
-Witten is on the downside of his career, Tony doesn't seem 100% healthy and the line is mediocre. We have no consistent running backs.

Railing at coaches is habitual around here and 90% of it is misguided.

Kiffin-Marinelli & Eberflus have to get their head out of their you know what & let Bruce Carter fight through some growing pains of learning the scheme!!! He is way too talented & Ernie Sims is horrible for him to be on the bench the 1st half. Let him grow & get better coaches!!!! So frustrating, & I know my name shows I am a huge Carter supporter, but the talent is there. He may have been missing certain assignments, but besides the Chargers game, none have put points on the board, gosh I hope the coaches learn something from today & have him out there from here on out.

Garrett has to pull it together. I don't know how he is an Ivy League Grad. Why call a timeout with 46 seconds left. That was just stupid. First and goal inside the 10 you need 25 seconds with 2 timeouts max!
I'm glad we won but my gosh we are poorly coached.

It's so sad that we're wasting so many players careers.

Anybody still not clear on this?

This is a sign of good coaching, not bad. But to answer your question, people are still confused by it, as evidenced by the constant posts suggesting this team is inconsistent. We're very consistent. We have consistently good offensive passing production from Tony Romo, but not good enough to regularly beat other good QBs who have the benefit of throwing against our pass defense. And that's been the case for the last few years.

In what Bizarro-world is this a testament to coaching?

That you're totally, utterly, and completely the very definition of mediocre?

Our only constant is mediocrity.

Ok so what if it was Bill Belichick? We know that he's an awesome coach, so would he receive the same criticism for dropped balls by the receivers, holding penalties that stop drives, interceptions during critical times of a game? No, we would start blaming players.

Did Demarco Murray look healthy to you because he didn't to me? In my opinion we don't run the ball as much because either the coaches don't have the confidence in the run, or they see something in the defense that makes them want to throw the ball.

Not every problem on a team is ultimately a coaching limitation. We've got a team right now that wins the games it should, and loses games to better teams. We lose to better teams because they can throw the ball against us effectively. More effectively than we can throw against them. There are lots of reasons a team can end up mediocre. We just have a fan base that for whatever reason thinks our team deserves to be better than it really is, and then expects to win games they shouldn't, and surprises itself with the obvious outcomes. Then resorts to claiming they just have higher expectations and standards than other fans because we're a team from Dallas that has a star on the side of its hat.

What the HC needs to do is identify the team's problems correctly, and then address them aggressively. If he does that, his teams get better. If he does not, he's rightfully fired, eventually. Nothing's different in Jason Garrett's case.
