How can anyone defend these coaches?

Ok so what if it was Bill Belichick? We know that he's an awesome coach, so would he receive the same criticism for dropped balls by the receivers, holding penalties that stop drives, interceptions during critical times of a game? No, we would start blaming players.

Belichick does suffer penalties, dropped ball, and interceptions. Have you seen what he's been trotting out there at wide receiver this year?

The difference is, he's able to overcome them consistently.

And, in fairness, Garrett was able to overcome those things today as well.

I am surprised Tony's arm isn't about to fall off from all the throwing we do. We have no running game.

If we have a different head coach next season at this time...the results won't be different. The personnel on this team is very mediocre.
-Maybe 2 defensive players are above average.
-Witten is on the downside of his career, Tony doesn't seem 100% healthy and the line is mediocre. We have no consistent running backs.

Railing at coaches is habitual around here and 90% of it is misguided.

I think so. Some of it is legitimate, but it's taken to an extreme. When you can look at the data and see obvious patterns as to why we're getting beat by good teams season after season, it seems pretty obvious to me.

I feel like we've got an old car with a busted radiator, and dozens of couch mechanics who can't believe we should be replacing the transmission immediately. Now, I'm not saying that transmission is an outstanding transmission. I'm saying there's a gaping, steaming hole in the radiator. Let's worry about the radiator.

The offense hardly has any injuries and they're every bit as weak as the defense.

This. This offense has a 100 million dollar QB, a future Hall of Fame TE, a top 5 WR, and arguably the best OL they've had in the last 15 years or so. And they still don't look like they know what they're doing. The offense has by and large put up pretty good numbers but they just don't seem to be able to score consistently in situations that warrant it.

Not every problem on a team is ultimately a coaching limitation. We've got a team right now that wins the games it should, and loses games to better teams. We lose to better teams because they can throw the ball against us effectively. More effectively than we can throw against them. There are lots of reasons a team can end up mediocre. We just have a fan base that for whatever reason thinks our team deserves to be better than it really is, and then expects to win games they shouldn't, and surprises itself with the obvious outcomes. Then resorts to claiming they just have higher expectations and standards than other fans because we're a team from Dallas that has a star on the side of its hat.

What the HC needs to do is identify the team's problems correctly, and then address them aggressively. If he does that, his teams get better. If he does not, he's rightfully fired, eventually. Nothing's different in Jason Garrett's case.

Yeah, it's us fans' fault.

Us and our above average expectations, how dare we!

Have now heard everything.

I've seen it mentioned that there should be a test before becoming a member here. I donbut think that's fair but there should be one for the mods.

From where I'm sitting, reading post after post and thread after thread about people complaining about imaginary coaching problems, it's going to seem like a lifetime, no matter how long it really is.

What is this dude smoking?

Got news for you, stash. If you're disappointed with today's win, it *is* your own fault. Expectations should be measured relative to what the team is able to deliver. I don't know what you've seen so far this year that would indicate to you we're able to slow down good passing teams. We're just not. Until the team demonstrates that it can make some progress there, we're going to continue to struggle against good passing offenses. If we beat them, it'll be because Tony and the offense plays great football.

If there is a typing, grammar or spelling test I'm in trouble. Lol

I am thrilled the Cowboys are still in first place. The coaching...not so much.

Well, then for you it must be especially refreshing, leading the division despite both our limitations *and* your assessment of the coaching staff.

Flash for you.

I didn't build or coach Team Mediocrity, therefore, it is not my fault. Farthest from it. Only the most earnest of excuse-makers would try to place 'blame' anywhere than other than where it deservedly belongs.

I'm not about to apologize for being less than thrilled in coming from behind and beating a bottom-feeder team with no quarterback - at home - while shutting down our own running game after early success.

Expectations should be measured relative to what the team is able to deliver. I don't know what you've seen so far this year that would indicate to you we're able to slow down good passing teams. Trouble is, that they've shown what they are capable of offensively, most recently against the Broncos. The cat's out of the bag. No putting the genie back in the bottle. And then they follow it up with lame efforts like the pas two weeks.

As for the pass defense?

Completely unacceptable, and showing me that the game has clearly passed Kiffin by.

Any again, inexcusable considering the investments made in the secondary.

Jones, Garrett, Kiffin, and everyone not named Marinelli are out of excuses.

As are any fans without blinders on.

I will say I'm glad we threw that "screen" in a game we won. :) Now we know what not to do and it didn't cost us.
