How can Dak not be the league MVP?

That doesn't mean Prescott is a bus-driver, either. For bus-drivers don't engineer nine 400-yard days in a season. In fact, no QB in Dallas Cowboys history has engineered nine different games of 400 yards -- until this one just did it last night.

And he's just a rookie.

When the news came out that Tony Romo had fractured his L1 vertebra, Everyone in the NFL thought "Oh no here comes 2015 all over again". We even contacted the Browns about trading for Josh McCown (Thank goodness Micheal Irvin helped in talking Jerry out of that move). Now fast forward to week 16 and we are one win away from home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. So as great as Zeke has been, How can Dak Prescott not be this year's MVP?

Because he is 16th in passing yards, 16th in passing tds, and 22nd in plays 20+ yards. It is remarkable what he has done as a 4th round rookie QB, but there are a lot of really good high performing QBs. Brees, Ryan, Rodgers, and Stafford could all very well make the pro bowl over Dak and its tough to argue why they're not deserving. Dak has no doubt made a tremendous difference and has carried this team, but im not sure that will win him MVP. I think you could still make a stronger case for Zeke though.

Carr has 7 rushing TDs? I wasn't aware

Carr also didn't inherit a 4-12 dumpster fire...
Yeah Oakland was good before Carr got there.... Carr's stats are better. Not that stats matter for anything other than awards. I've already had this debate with a Raiders fan. The only argument for Dak over Carr is team record. And that's not much of a difference.

How many rushing TDs does Carr have? QBR compared to Dak? I know Dak is second in NFL in that category... Carr #1?

Well, what if Romo gets all the votes? I mean him being a genius on the sidelines and all, and being worth all that money!

Yes he's a rookie so I could see Rookie of the year candidate. QBs main function is to pass the ball Dak is middle of the pack in passing stats that's very good for a rookie but not MVP caliber. Honestly I hope he doesn't win any awards that way he will not get over confident and not improve in the off season. He needs to come back next year a better player.

Total yards and passing touchdowns is about as deep as you need to look for MVP voting. Nobody voting is doing a deep dive. I'd love to see Dak win it but it won't happen. Not unless those 2 stats are better than Carr's. Nobody cares about interception percentage or TD percentage. Nobody even understands those stats or how they are calculated. I like your effort though.

Dear god, this is your favorite person in the whole world. I just wanted to ask you to make it possible for Dak and Zeke to be co-MVPs this season. If so, you are welcomed to that cash gift I have for you. Amen.

You really think Dak is "middle of the pack" in passing stats like it said prior to editing?

Why? Because without Zeke I highly doubt the team is 12-2. I can't say the same about Dak if Romo was healthy and QB-ing the team. Romo has done something comparable without a player of Zeke's caliber, though Murray did put up good numbers in 2014, whereas it is an unknown if Dak could do the same thing.

As of right now it looks like Murrays 2014 season was better than Zekes this year in teams of both rushing and receiving yards. Rushing is close. Receiving is 57 to 31 catches advantage Murray.

He likely was never more than a 1000 to 1 shot to ever get even a single vote while Brady is alive...but with 5 games to go he was at 19 passing TDs and I thought he had a very tiny shot if he could go on a run and get to 30 and keep the same sparkling interception percentage. But 1 TD pass in 3 games killed it dead. The last 3 MVPs had 35, 38 and 55 TD passes. 20 with 2 (likely not even full) games to go. Time to get behind Zeke.

Hey wait -- I read right here on CZ to ignore Aaron Rodgers rushing yards and TDs in 2014 vs Romo when considering which of them should win the MVP. The common refrain is only the passing stats mattered.

OR

Did I just imagine that?
