Playoffs or no playoffs, the Cowboys have shown that they're moving in the right direction, so there would be some positive feelings about going 11-5. Not making the playoffs, however, would suck. The loss against the Skins would definitely make it sting. As to whether or not Garrett should be fired, I don't know. When teams get in with worse records, I don't know how much of it you can really lay on him. You could argue that he got outcoached by Gruden/Haslett, but then I could say he outcoached Pete Carroll. Can we get to where we want with him, or do we need someone else? Letting him go means likely letting the whole staff go and starting over, and that's tough to sell when the team goes 11-5, improves by three games over last year, and far exceeds pretty much everyone's expectations.
You don't want to hold on to a stock that's not going anywhere, but you don't want to sell one that's going up either.
