Feels good to win, reality may set in here soon but again maybe not. Because of expectations just enjoying watching football without getting too amped up about winning or losing....let the chips fall where they may.

Losing sucks. Would it be nice to secure a high draft pick? Sure....but I will never, ever advocate for losing intentionally. How do you tell your players "I know you've worked hard throughout the offseason, and the team has hit a rough patch. Success has been hard to find, and I understand that you've dedicated your life to succeeding at the highest possible level. I know it hurts and you may not be with the team next season, but I need you to suck it up and endure that pain for the sake of a higher draft pick"?

That type of mentality can destroy the competitive drive for an entire roster. I want guys on the field that are dedicated to doing their absolute best every game, every drive, and every play. If you take that away from them, what makes you think they will take the team seriously moving forward? If there's a talent deficit that strong effort can't overcome, then sure, take the losses and look forward to good draft position, but you can't tell this coach, who is on the last year of his contract, trying to earn a new contract either here or elsewhere, and these players, who have fought through extreme adversity and have finally managed to find some success to just pack it in and call it a year. Be mad about it if you want, but these guys have dedicated their lives to this game, and have earned the right to compete at the highest level.

Tanking doesn’t win you anything, on the field or in the draft. There are rarely, if ever, any “can’t miss”es in the draft. For every Troy Aikman there’s a Tony Mandarich; for every Payton Manning there’s a Ryan Leaf. You only increase the probability of both boom or bust. Even Jimmy Johnson wasn’t sure about Troy at the start.

Sad how many do not understand what I posted above.

COMPETITIVE SPIRIT.

Do you want a team that tells the players to quit just to get 2 slots higher in the draft.
Dont even waste your time arguing with them loser mentality fans. If the team is technically bad and the last two weeks are fools gold, then so be it, we will lose games because we are bad. The same fans mad about cee dee getting paid and not producing, have no issues with the remaining team going out there and intentionally losing and getting a free pay check to get a hight draft. Contradicting fans.

It’s not loser mentality it’s called being aware of the reality of what we are now and what we will be going forward if we don’t add some star power for cheap.

You’re playing checkers but the game is chess.

I’m more bothered by the fact that the cowboys stink. Not whether fans want to tank or not.

But to each their own.
Figure you wouldn't be bothered to respond to a thread that doesn't bother you....but, to each their own. Lol

Another win or two and this team will be drafting in no mans land. It's that area in the first round when all the impact players are taken and the players that remain are probably closer to round 2 picks than round 1. But this draft is deep in a few positions so maybe they get lucky drafting around 15 or 16 and find a kind that can really them. Then they have the same problem in the next couple of rounds.

Some understand some fans want to tank. However those fans are the ones playing checkers. As to blaming the team for not tanking On purpose. That is just insane.

Didn’t they get CeeDee around 16? I guess some fans want to disregard that.

Tanking is not going to fix everything. It sends a message to possible players to not come here.

How many times do I need to say it…..COMPETITIVE SPIRIT ….
To add to this you're not going to win those games unless you have three or four young players showing good upside.

What's more valuable having three or four young guys show that they can play at a NFL level resulting in a few extra wins or those players looking like trash and you draft 5 or 6 spots higher ?

Screw tanking, I'd rather the young offensive line and guys like overshown ball out. That's much more valuable than draft a handful of spots higher

I understand what your putting down but how many players have already quit or are injured....a few player still show up and some are playing thru the injury.....then some get a hang nail and don't play or practice again. Just look at this hodge podge of a roster...worst in the NFL.....I have to say...I hope they have mailed it in a cause they suck.

As the season is coming to an end and the playoff hopes are dashed.....it's a moot point....only thing they will be playing for is their bonus's and they won't care about competition against another team it will be about cashing in on the bonus...a bunch of INDIVIDUAL HEROS and not playing as a team......does a win again the NYG or Carolina really mean anything besides a lower pick in the draft....it could be the difference between a top 10 pick and/or a top 20 pick...This team SUCKS from top to bottom and they need all the help they can get.....The GM killed this roster and must rebuild but you and I both no the GM won't do it

There are ways to tank that don’t change the effort culture.

Also, you have owners that it doesn’t take much for them to do absolutely nothing to improve the team and keep status quo.

A complete collapse is probably needed so they will be active.

I can see both sides....

Tom Landry drafted near the bottom almost every year but never failed to field a competitive team, or lacked for talent.

Then there are teams that pick high year after year and never seem to amass enough talent to get to the next level.

On the other side sometimes you have to lose the battle to win the war.

So you pick your side and hope you made the right choice.

Leave tanking to the NBA.

In truth, there are too many players with incentive-laden contracts to push that mentality. If the team is bad, they will lose anyway. Good scouting and good GM'ing will get you good players in the later rounds. Good coaching can find the diamonds in the rough and make then great. Tom Brady, Jason Kelce, Antonio Brown, Terrell Davis, Greg Lloyd, Jay Novacek, Wilbert Montgomery, Joe Klecko...all 6th round picks.

The question is whether or not we have good scouting, GM'ing, and coaching.

The Jags, the Browns, the Jets, the Colts, the Giants, the Bears, the Falcons, the Panthers all are perennial top-of-the-draft franchises and haven't been able to build consistent playoff teams.
Meanwhile, the Eagles, the Packers, the 49ers, the Ravens, the Steelers, the Chiefs, the Bills aren't picking at the top of the draft very often, and yet they seem to make the playoffs on a consistent basis.

It's not about how high in the draft you pick. It's your scouting department AND your coach. Great coaching is a POWERFUL equalizer. That's been our problem ever since Jimmy Johnson left. Our true coach has been with us since 1989, handling it his way since 1994.
We've had talented teams, but the coaching has remained the same.
And until it changes, we can have multiple top-5 drafts, we'll likely find ourselves in the same boat as the Jags, Browns, Jets and the Bears.

Cavanaugh/Braoddus both say it is GREAT to win meaningless games but this is hurting the team overall. The offense is poor and lacks scoring ability.

"So while short-term Dallas fans wants wins now, hurts the future team. Dallas is playing their way out of better players."

Then they both stated: "Dallas has a phobia with DL. If you taken Hutchinson instead of Taco, you have a better taste with Michigan players"

TJ Watt should’ve been the pick - WE ALL F*****G KNEW IT!!!

Discussing it, isn’t the same As being bothered by it.

Like I said. If fans still want the team to win games. That’s cool.

I just think it’s also ok for fans to think the cowboys aren’t going anywhere (they aren’t) and so losing games helps the team long term.

Why wouldn't a fan wanting to win games, not be cool? I get the tanking for a higher pick crowd, don't blame them, i guess...I just hope we don't get another Trey Lance or someone like that. Actually, it probably wouldn't matter who we draft, they call him a bust after his first bad game.
