I do think Parsons was the guy all along

At first, I thought it was nothing more than the usual spin from the front office trying to make themselves look good but the more I see this unfolding, I think that's a fact.

How does a CB help a defense that struggles against the run? Quinn was hired to fix that first and when the Legion of Boom was assembled, SEA already had a solid run defense.

Look at how Quinn devotes his time, he's all about the front 7 because that's where the leaks are.

There wasn't a DL ranked in the top 15 that could help with stopping the run, which is unusual for any draft, so what's the next best thing? A tackling machine MLB. A fast tackling machine MLB.

I don't think the Cowboys get him at 12 if he plays in 2020. His last college game was the Cotton Bowl where he was MVP with 14 tackles, 2 sacks and 2 forced fumbles and he is the first player in Penn State history to lead the team in tackles as a freshman and he only started 1 game. Let that sink in.

If you were apprehensive about this pick, you might want to revisit his last full season at the most famous college for LB's in history. That season was so special with just about every individual honor a player could get that he could afford to opt out in 2020 and still be regarded as a top 10 pick. I think if he plays in 2020, he's the first non QB off the board.

Every great Dallas D had that guy, that MLB that led the team in tackles, made drive stopping plays and lifted the D around him and I am not saying Micah Parsons is that guy but this team has to have that guy so taking him makes perfect sense to me. Because until we do find that guy, we do not field a true contender defense to play in January.
Hope he helps this dumpster fire of a defense

The 2nd level of the Cowboys defense was an abysmal part of a bad D last year. I really didn't think Parsons would be there at 10 never mind 12. PSII would have been a solid pick at 10, but Parsons has the potential to be a game changer and make the players around him better. Surtain would look pretty ordinary without a serious upgrade to the front 7's ability to attack the LOS. Having a dude like Parsons on the field will give the defense a lot of options with sending extra pressure and help make the DBs job a lot easier.

Nah, I don't buy they wanted Parsons over Surtain & Horn. But that's ok. While I question some of their later moves, I'm good with what Dallas in the first two rounds. They made the best of the situation, and I'd prefer that over trading up and giving away a pick.

Do you think Dallas had already been contacted by Chicago earlier (and Philly too) and knew that if they traded back pretty much how those next 3 picks would go? I think this is the exact scenario. Chicago was chompin at the bit to get their QB. I'd be willing to bet they'd talked to teams ahead of Dallas too. People weren't going to jump and give up capital for Parsons but yep, for the QB, everything is in play. JMHO of course.

I think they knew what Philly was doing, I believe it’s part of the trade up process, “we’ll agree to it if you don’t take our guy.”

but both Dallas and Chicago have said the bears never called Dallas for the 10th pick

They wanted one of the corners then traded down once they weren't there end of story.
I honestly don’t believe that. But we will honestly never know. I don’t think that the Cowboys valued the top two perceived corners as much as everyone assumed that they did. And I think Horn was ahead of Surtain.

The Eagles told the Cowboys they were going offense. That's all they wanted to know and probably all the Eagles were willing to tell.

If the Cowboys truly were targeting Parsons they took a real gamble dropping behind the Giants. You knew they wanted Smith but he was now going at 10. Parsons could have easily been their plan B before the Bears got involved.

But maybe the opportunity to add a Chauncey Golston was just too good to pass up. You kind of blow up your entire draft strategy when you can bring in that kind of talent.

If memory serves me correct, what was actually said was that specific trade wasn’t on the table but I think a different offer could have been made.

If you watch the video of the Panthers war room then you know Chicago had an offer on the table at 8 which was knocked back for being unders in terms of points. You think they skipped 9 & 10 which would have been right there for points and decided to go again at 11? Seems unlikely.

I believe you believe and wear a tinfoil hat.

You think the Panthers faked the war room video of the trade offer with Chicago? Maybe they did it in the moon landing studio.
